Hey. My WD element 4TO is apparently failing. I have 200 bad sectors it seems. When I plug it in, it doesn't appear in explorer. In disk Management, it appears but it isn't initialized.
My goal it to try to recover the data on it If it's still possible. But i can't access any file right now. Would cloning the HDD using a bootable USB linus and HDDsuperclone thing help in any way ? Or am I just screwed ? Knowing that I can't even plug the HDD inside the computer since when I disassemble the HDD, the USB/SATA thing it not removable, and I read somewhere that it lowers the chance to work if it's USB pluged.
I thought for a moment that cloning the HDD would allow my to recover some file, but reading more and more on the internet searching for similar problems, I'm afraid it won't be possible.
Your thoughts ? Thanks !
So around a month ago I noticed when I had a game running on my first monitor anything on my second monitor would start to stutter. Fast forward, things began to just fully freeze when I was playing a game until I started randomly black screening. After a lot of messing around I figured out it was crashing mainly when I had any video playing in the back ground on either monitor. I started to use hardware inspector, and task manager to monitor stuff while I played but nothing ever spiked or over heated yet still 30 minutes - 2 hours later it crashed again. It has crashed a few times with just a video, just the game, and doing nothing but is consistent with games. I've updated every driver and tweaked every setting but to no avail it is still crashing. Need help on what I should replace hardware priority wise to weed out what might have caused this.
TL;DR
Computer randomly black screens. Exhausted every software issue I can think of. Need direction on which parts to replace first

Hey all, i just upgraded the ram in my Lenovo L340 from an SK Hynix 8gb 2666 stick to 16gb same company same speed. While I was upgrading, a screwdriver bit fell on the motherboard causing some sparks. No visible damage was done to the board. After running BeamNG (the only game I play) the laptop crashes with a white screen after about a minute. I'm running memtest86 currently, first run passed with 0 errors and currently on pass 2. Did I seriously fuck up by dropping that stupid driver bit on the mobo or could this just be a software issue ? I've already updated my graphics drivers. Any potential solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello all. Recently while playing a game on my laptop, the screen dimmed and began flickering after launching the game. This problem persists until I turn off the display and turn it back on. This is happening with every game I have tried. I am not using any monitors other than the built in laptop monitor. I have had this computer for over 4 years and this problem didn’t start occurring until last night. So far everything I have tried to fix the problem has failed. I believe it is a graphics card issue at this point but I am still not sure. Any ideas on what might be the problem and the possible solution? Thank you!
My computer is an Alienware Area 51m laptop, I have a i9-9900 core processor installed with an Nvidia RTX 2070 graphics card.

I live in france and for some weird reason I can't use dating sites on 4g networks but only with wifi, but when I visited the Netherlands the apps worked perfectly with 4g so is it a france thing and if so how can I fix this?
Hello Reddit! I’m here to ask if anyone has an answer to my question because it has been worrying me for quite awhile.
For starters the country I live in has no official Apple Store to buy Apple products. With that being prefaced, I bought a new iPhone 13 with iOS 17.5 or 17.6 preinstalled (I can’t recall). It has never been activated before as I checked its serial number before purchase using the check coverage website Apple has. However, I noticed that on the box the Apple security sticker had came off. Now I acknowledge it could’ve have been done by me accidentally and I never noticed.
What I would like to know is if there is any way I can confirm the iPhone hasn’t been tampered with. I have been told that since the phone has been registered as inactive by apple, it means I’m safe. But I would still like some sort of confirmation and an explanation.
Thank you for your help!
Hi, can someone help me fix my laptop, after i enabled amd radion 8600M in device manager> display, my screen then freezes and everytime i restart the laptop it freezes, does anyone know how to fix it.
I'm not a tech savvy person and need help. All the files I've owned on Google drive have vanished including sheets and docs. From my trash as well, like they never existed to begin with. Only the skeleton of my folders remain. Please help! All my work is on it
It's a Toshiba SSD THNSNS128GMCP, pulled from an old laptop. Some data on there my son needs for his work and I can't seem to find a caddy for this online. Help super appreciated here.
I built my pc a few months back and every once in a while, the pc will power on with no display and not properly boot. The motherboard LED lights up and fans spin. It usually fixes itself after 5+ hard restarts and I’ve not found a reason for the issue. I’d say once in every 50-100 boots this issue occurs.
Any ideas?
I'm currently running a GeFroce GTX 1050 Ti on a ROG Strix B550-F with a Ryzen 5 5600X 6core and 16gb of RAM. It's just a cheap gaming pc I built back when I was broke high school student, now that I'm a broke COLLEGE student I ran across the opportunity of getting a 1060 Ti for free, as was just wondering if I'm able to run both of them without bottlenecking the rest of the hardware.
So am I able to do it? is it even worth?? or should I just take the 1060 and call it a day? Thanks for any help.
Hey tech enthusiasts,
I’m trying to transfer Live Photos from my iPhone to my Windows laptop without losing the motion/video part. When I use regular methods like USB or cloud storage, they often just show up as static images.
Does anyone know a reliable way to get both the photo and the video portion intact on Windows? Preferably without using paid software.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Turned it on today and one side is dark. When I get really close to the display I can see the picture but very dark... Can I repair it or do I need a new one?

I got factorio from steam a while ago and now my pc crashes whenever i play ANY game and it crashes my pc and idk why.
I played a bunch of RDR2 but one day, it just disappeared from my PS4 console. I bought it from the PS store and I couldn't find it anywhere. I parsed through my entire library and I have no idea why it happened or where it went. It left me no choice but to buy it again, this time physical. But my save data isn't transferring over. It can recognize my trophies and whatnot, but the only save in-game is the start of the game. Can you please help me?
sorry everyone for the post, I hope I'm in the right section, it's my first time here.
The problem is the following: During my gaming sections, regardless of the game, every 30 minutes a freeze starts for less than 1 second and then everything returns to normal but I don't understand the nature of this little stutter.

Hi everyone, I know this is Windows specific but thought I'd try here as their subs havn't been able to help. I’ve recently been playing Fallout 4 again (Steam, modded and next-gen reverted) and have had a DXGKRNL BSOD several times now. Each time my laptop automatically reboots the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 is shown as a hidden device in Display Adapters and GeForce Experience doesn’t detect an Nvidia GPU. To temporarily fix the issue I usually just reboot which works for minutes, hours, even days, but it does happen again. Can anyone tell me what’s going on? Something to do with Nvidia?

I got a new phone and transferred files to my external drive, a 16 TB SSD drive.
Before deleting anything I confirmed they were on the drive AND visible from another device (so I confirmed I could see them on my laptop).
Today I went to go put them on my new phone and they're gone. Like, all of them. Everything I transferred yesterday is not on my external drive. All older files are so it wasn't wiped clean.
How could this happen??? This is a huge disaster for me, that was like a years worth of pictures, custom music files I use for work, documents etc. All gone.
Can I recover anything? Who could even help?
Hello, I have recently got in possesion of an used ZOTAC MiniPC (ZBOX-CI321 NANO) but it is not turning on. When I connect it to a charger(the light glows that its connected but not on) and press the power button it doesnt turn on. I can hear the click but nothing happens. I do not see any battery or a battery slot on the motherboard and am not sure either if I should see any. Atleast I dont any that would look like in a typical PC motherboard, dunno if there is some tiny battery in here. I can not ask anything about it the original owner as I do not know them and got the ZOTAC through someone else with whom I dont have contact anymore either. I can provide any further information and pictures if needed.
All of the other devices are fine, troubleshooting does nothing, fiddling with my Ethernet does nothing, I'm stumped. Nothings working. Tried a few commands also but they didn't do anything either. Tips please?
Built a new pc, all working fine except 2 fans won't turn on, (we didn't plug them in), I plug them into the PSU (the 2 fan cables both go into like some weird connector thing which then goes into the PSU) but once we put it into the PSU the whole pc won't turn on, no LEDS even turn on on the motherboard
Hi guys, So as title says. Today I noticed that my 4TB hard drive with my most important data had really low loading speeds (like opening folders etc). I downloaded CrystalDisk and the failing one didn't appear there. I checked disk management and iy showed as "at risk" and errors (or something similar). It's IIRC WD Red. I planning to buy WD Red Pro or Plus as they seem more reliable. Now what'd be the best option to clone the drive/transfer all the data to the new HDD? I remember using some sort of cloning software to make a copy of my OS and also FastCopy (as back then it was recommended as the fastest one, which in fact was). What would you gurus suggest? Thanks in advance for your replies. All the best!
I’m struggling to get the connections off the twin cables to my skyQ box. Any suggestions please
Okay, this issue started a month or two ago and I'm at a complete loss as to what it could be.
For reference, I have the following specs:
As far as OS has gone.. this is where it gets weird and frustrating.
As I said, this issue started a couple months back. At the time I was on Windows 10 and it had been a couple years since I reinstalled my OS. I started to get weird stutters and hang ups in game and it seemed to only be fixed by restarting my computer. Now when I say the issue happens in game, I mean it starts there, but this absolutely cripples my entire system even after closing Apex. My File Explorer and everything in my system is absolutely fucked at this point and a restart is the only fix. Opening files take multiple seconds instead of the usual instantaneous response. Closing my Apex game takes a full minute to close, where normally it's several seconds. Disconnecting from discord call will take a few seconds. My entire system feels sluggish to respond to anything I do. Again a full system reboot resolves this issue. Even leaving my computer on for a while and not playing Apex, this issue does NOT crop up at all. It only seems to happen when I play Apex (admittedly it's about the only game I play for any decent amount of time so unsure if it happens with other games at the moment).
I used to leave my computer on for days or weeks at a time, and have never experienced issues before. I had made no recent changes, it just seemed to start happening out of the blue. At this point I started to suspect hardware issue, so I've done the following:
After dealing with this for about a week I decided it was time to just reinstall. I backed up important stuff (wasn't much), and reinstalled my OS, but flipped to Windows 11 at this point.
This was a fresh install, not an upgrade or anything half assed. I reinstalled my usual apps (fresh downloads, nothing copied from previous system). Next night when gaming with my friends, the same stuttering surfaced again. I reboot the game, no fix. I restart my PC and the issue is resolved (for now). But this is now a daily occurrence. Every night before gaming i need to restart my PC, and after 2-3 hours I'm likely to encounter the stuttering again. One way to expedite this process is to apparently alt+tab out of the game.. so if my friends want to screen share and show me a clip, alt+tabbing out a couple times during our session is a surefire way to encounter the stuttering sooner than later.
Again just as the issue was in Windows 10, once this occurs, it cripples my PC. File explorer, and every other process is just struggling to run, and it's overall an extremely awful and aggravating experience.
Now you might wonder how bad is it ingame? Here's a clip from the other night of me experiencing it. This was after the reinstall and am on Windows 11.
You'll notice my FPS is pretty solid/consistent, I do get some network errors after the stutter, but this appears to be related more so because my system has stopped responding and there's probably interpolation problems momentarily as my system resyncs with the server, otherwise loss/choke, and ping are all fine. During this, my friends are having no issues, and again, once this starts this issue goes beyond Apex, and negatively impacts my system as a whole.
As far as programs that I run on my system... I have the usual Chrome/Firefox, Discord, Steam, nVidia Geforce experience w/ shadowplay (been using shadowplay for years now, never an issue). I do have Malwarebytes premium (had for a decade+ now), and have been running Backblaze backup on my system for a year or so now. I do also have Notion running my taskbar which is a personal knowledge base tool.
None of these are new installs that would correlate with when the issue started.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear it. I consider myself to be fairly technically competent, but either I'm overlooking something insanely obvious, or there is something else going on. I suspect hardware given the issue persisting through full OS re-installs, but at this point I don't know. I've never heard of or experienced anything like this before.
