I am using a 170w Charger for my Lenovo LOQ laptop (15APH8). The charger began smoking like crazy and sparking, and there is melted plastic on the chord below where it inserts into the laptop. Is this an issue with the charger itself, or with the laptop? (The charger began to only work when the chord was placed at a certain angle)

With latest 572.16 I do not see now NIS (image scaling) overlay when in-game, is it not working/removed/bug? Just asking here as maybe someone knows! I got 3080Ti and have been using various frame generation mods, which helps me to play 4K/Highest/RT and in some games I need NIS to scale the image to 4K resolution.

Basically, before this latest update of driver, I could see blue NIS overlay, meaning switched On and not utilised, or green NIS overlay at the top left of the screen when in-game, meaning NIS is working and upscaling to the monitor's native resolution, in my case to 4K.

it insatlled, did an update and started windows, now when i open windows sandbox, it gives me this error: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done. (0x80070534) and doesnt work.

BUT the bigger ISSUE is that Windows update vanished from my settings app, i cant see Installed apps tab nor can i see many other settings, they all seem to have vanished from the settings app.
I dont care if i dont have windows sandbox anymore, i want my settings back.
Restore point didnt work, Restart doesnt work either.

I have a couple of old Xbox 360 wired controllers that I use for certain PC games on my gaming laptop. They were working just fine the other day, but for some reason they have stopped working since yesterday evening. Specifically, when I plug one in, the lights flash momentarily before switching off again (holding down the central button does nothing either) and anything that shows whether a controller is connected (i.e. Device Manager, Steam) says that nothing is connected. I've tried several solutions found online to no avail, these include:

• Trying a different USB port - The controllers aren't detected in either of them, however my mouse works in both, so its not them.
• Updating Windows and/or drivers - Both insist they're up to date, including the hidden one for Xbox 360 controllers.
• Uninstalling and reinstalling driver - I tried this with the aforementioned driver, though I got one controller to be read momentarily (which reinstalled it) the problem still persists.

If anyone has any other solutions to this issue, or at least knows of potential causes, that would be great. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 if that helps.

I've got a pretty beefy computer, Ryzen 5700x, 64 gigs of ram, and task manager says less than 1% of my cpu is being used at any given time. There's no actual computer freezing, I can still move my mouse, it's just not letting me do anything. Even when I've managed to open the start menu, the options to restart or shut down just don't work at all.

I managed to get to "Windows Update" and it says that my version of Windows has reached the end of Service, but clicking the "update" button just causes it to load for a few seconds and then shows the same message again.

---------SYMPTOMS:

-New Windows updates won't install. Using USB or ISO to try and update results in blue screen, system repair, another blue screen, and then boots back to how it was before. No minidumps or crash logs are created.

-Don't seem to have admin access to most features. Doesn't throw access errors, but simply won't open programs run as admin.

-Taskbar and start menu not working. Disabling and restarting the task makes it work for a few moments but the taskbar will simply disappear after a few moments. Control Panel will not open, apps will not open, but computer will not be frozen.

---------------Things I've ruled out:

-Installing from mounted ISO or USB drive. Blue screens, restarts, requires a repair. Run the repair, freezes, restarts and goes back to normal.

-Restarting explorer.exe. It works for a while but then the start menu and taskbar just disappear. Nothing will work after this

-Running CMD and Powershell for downloading packages. It just throws an error about either faulty I/O or not having admin privileges (which I have, and ran as admin).

-Scanning with CDI. Drives are all in good shape and new.

-Offline and Online scans with ESET, Malwarebytes, Windows Defender. No viruses, packages or malware to speak of.

-Opening settings or any other function related to Windows. Can't even see my system info. Only managed to get to it for a few seconds immediately after booting before the screen blanked out.

-Started the PC in safe mode, deleted the contents of the C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution folder.

Due to recently having another child, I've unfortunately lost my computer room and decided the best way to keep all my systems is to just buy a cabinet.

I jumped the gun on a 4u Inwin case for my gaming system but it has a depth of 508mm and all the cabinets I'm seeing only have a 450mm internal depth (600mm external) unless I go for a 42u+ beast that my wife will definitely not sign off on.

I was hoping to get an 18-22u cabinet but those internals are throwing me off.

So I have a oneplus 7t pro mclareen edition and the touch screen isn't working(due to a broken screen) the display works fine u can see everything there just is no touch sensitivity at all maybe just a Lil at the bottom but it's of no use, and i want to use a mouse on it but the problem is i don't think I've had OTG setting enabled and I used a normal otg adapter but the mouse doesn't connect maybe because the phone was shut down and it requires password for basic functions to work but I've heard with the right otg adapter or a usb C hub this won't be an issue but there are specific types of these adapters that work the rest of them don't work so does anyone know what adapter o hub would definitely work on it? I was working on my LENOVO LEGION 5 (2022 Edition) and suddenly it stucked in an Infinite boot loop.

It shows me " preparing automatic repair " and it freezes at this point .

Sometimes a blue screen appear with a random stop code like : (PAGE FAULT _IN NONPAGED AREA / ATTEMPTED WRITE_TO READONLY MEMORY / KMODE EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED )

I've tried to press F8 and other keys but it doesn't respond to anything except the F2 ( which gets me into Bios) .

I've tried to install windows through a USB flash drive but it stayed loading for about 3 hours and nothing happened .

Then I got into hardware so I checked memories , ssd ( I took it to a tech professional he tried to replace them with different kinds of memories) he told me that the he didn't managed to find out what's the problem He also checked several hardware stuff but he didn't find out the problem

How can I solve this problem ?

For the past few days I've been having an issue where Chrome (fully updated) doesn't load some websites. I've only just noticed the common denominator is that they have all, so far, happened to be websites for shopping specifically. The website loads in my Chrome as a [blank white screen] (https://imgur.com/a/UJCDa9H). Both Huel and the Onlynaturals websites in that screenshot aren't loading, but there are several others as well.

Fixes I've attempted, with no change to the websites' appearance:

*Tried with a VPN set to my city (UK) and another (US)

*Tried incognito mode (both w/ VPN and w/o)

*Cleared history and cache, deleted entire cookie history for all websites

*Deleted and reinstalled Chrome

*Tried with Firefox and Edge

*Disabled all Chrome extensions

*Ran cmd to flush dns and ping 8.8.8.8

I have no possible idea what can be causing this. It's only some websites but nothing consistent - some other shopping websites I've tried seem to be fine. It's only happening on my laptop, with my Android Pixel loading the websites fine. If I force my mobile Chrome to switch to desktop, it still works. If I use wifi on my phone instead of mobile data, it still works.

Please for the love of god someone help me, I think I'm going insane, and every time I attempt a new website that this happens to I lose another year of my miserable life. Thank you!

I tried to turn my computer on last night after work and it randomly began to not POST. The white QLED stays on after both red and orange light up, indicating a VGA problem I believe Previously before this I enabled Virtualization and set up a VMware machine, but it booted previously with all this set up and working so I don't think it's related

Historically I've linked my TV programmes and films folder, to the videos folder in Windows Media Player. Now I'm trying to separate films from TV programmes.

I'm reading online that the recorded tv section will only take videos in a .wtv format, is that correct? Mine are a different format to this.

I used the gmail from the 3 years ago with old account (it uses my main gmail by the way) and now it asks me for a passkey. Hi everyone, as the title says, i'm having some problem trying booting into BIOS my PC.

Every time I restart my PC the monitor appears black showing only "frequency not supported".

When i boot it normally it show for 5 seconds "frequency not supported" then the OS starts.

My monitor is an Acer SA240Y, GPU AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT, CPU AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. I'm using a HDMI cable to connect the monitor to the grapich card.

Hello, I have a problem with my PC, windows 11. When I turn my PC on the screen is black but I can seethe cursor. Ctrl alt del does nothing.

This started yesterday when I was trying to fix my issue with Steam not working. I restarted my PC and then I got this new problem with black screen and cursor.

I have been trying to install the Parrot Security OS using the .ova file downloaded from the Parrot OS website but I can't get it to work.

I import it into VirtualBox using the downloaded .ova file, and then run it but it gets stuck on the boot screen with the parrot os logo and does nothing. Is this a known issues?

So my iMac 2015 has gotten pretty slow over the years and this morning my brother unplugged it from the socket and generally it takes a bit of time to restart and I have kept the sleep timer at 3 minutes so it sleeps halfway through loading up and when you retry it starts all the way from the beginning and the same thing happens over and over again.

Hi, I work in small shop for animals in Czechia. When I am walking thru shop and writing prices on items, I always have to scan the item, then go to the front desk, look there at the price and go back. It's annoying, when you do it for the hundred time a day. I was wondering if there is something like a small wireless, battery powered monitor that I can conect to PC at front desk ( so that I can just scan the product anywhere and see the price on monitor) or if there is a way to connect my phone or tablet to the pc so it would function like the wireless monitor. I have an old 500gb Mac HDD that I want to reformat to use on windows but when I plug it in windows won't load and when I reboot with it unplugged it runs automatic repair. If I open bios the drive is registered there in the list of sata devices. If I plug the drive in after boot it will not show up in file explorer or disk management. I've tried booting gparted live but this doesn't detect it either as well as a slew of apps that also do not detect the drive. If anyone has any ideas it will be much appreciated

Pretty much the title. The only games I can run seem to be very low intensity games like Stardew Valley type stuff. Any time I try to run Elden Ring I crash either immediately, or after a few minutes running around in the game. Rainbow 6 Siege I'll either crash to desktop or I'll blue screen with a BEDaisy.exe error. Been playing Path of Exile 2 also crashing to desktop.

I have done everything I can think of to try and fix this crashing. I just did a fresh install of Windows 11 yesterday and I formatted my 2TB M.2 just for funsies because why not. I've updated my BIOS, I've tried updated GPU drivers along with rolling back GPU drivers to no success. I've done Memtest86 and all my stuff passed. I've run stress tests on my GPU and CPU and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I've tried seeing if my RAM was the cause, but it still crashes no matter which stick of RAM I'm using. I've tried running the games from both M.2 drives to test and see if they were messed up for some reason. I'm really losin my damn mind over here. Never have I had this much trouble trying to fix something like this. I'm pretty sure it's gotta be a hardware thing because I formatted both of my drives, but honestly at this point I have no idea.

I would appreciate any kind of help or insight anybody has on this issue, because I've ran out of stuff to try.

I have an ASUS tuf A15 running windows 11. Yesterday I noticed when I went browsing that the website domains where not uk and were rather a different country. I went onto Google maps and my location said I was at a residential address in Saudi Arabia.

I turned on and off my location services, cleared my location history and reset my computer. No change. I then checked my language and region, which is set to the UK. I went to my time zones and set it automatically and it changed it to the Kuwait region. So I went to control panel to change it and it reset back to the Kuwait region. I can only get the correct time if I turn time zone automatically off.

I checked my IP address, it is correct and it says I'm in the uk. I even changed wifi networks and nothing changes. I did have Express VPN however, and deleted that thinking it could cause the changed country but no improvement. Its just weird how my windows system and the internet thinks I am in Saudi Arabia when I have never visited before. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is really bugging me that I cannot fix it👏

Hey everyone, I’m having an issue with my omen 16 gaming laptop where the GPU seems to have failed. The Geek Squad techs have assumed it's a GPU/motherboard failure, and they plan on sending it to the service center for further evaluation. My main concern is whether, if they decide to “junk out” my computer, they would offer store credit or any kind of compensation. Has anyone had experience with a similar situation? If your device was deemed unrepairable, did they give you store credit or an alternative solution? How does this process usually work? Any advice or insight would be really helpful!
