What are your immediate feelings on current social media content?

Most of the contents can be categorised as following:

1. Self Sexualizing:

Woman's are sexualizing / considering themself as 'entertainment' on Instagram.

They self objective and make reels. Just for making some money ?

I am not against glamour role. Infact, its a 'personal choice'. But I am concern that people have equated it as glamour show --> followers + content viral ---> Leads ---> Fame + Money.

This formula is soo soo wrong.

2. Paid Promotion

People are very much into promoting stuffs for money, without using 'ads'.

That's again a red flag.

3. Instagram Algorithm

Instagram Algorithm itself is biased towards paid promotion + glamour roles content.

Using social media is such a turn off these days.

I am a Instagram user who used to use Instagram for songs and gopinath's speeches.

Now it has turned into 'self promotion', 'paid promotion'

Every single content creator wanted to seen and heard. In this rat race we forgot to analyse the 'red flags' of Instagram.

Instead of Creativity we have choosen Objectivity.

Instead of geniuneness we have choosen Sweet Paid lies.

Instead of Educating via reels, we have choosen mindless contents.

Instagram has turned into 'watch me and ruin you life later'

It's like 'buy now, pay in EMI'

I'm curious to know how people in Tamil Nadu perceive Pakistan and India's neighborhood in general.

How is Pakistan viewed in Tamil society—both historically and today?

What influences this perception? Media, politics, history, personal experiences?

Do Tamilians see Pakistan differently compared to the general Indian narrative?

How about other neighbors—Sri Lanka, China, Bangladesh, etc.?

I 26M has recently been engaged to a girl 26F through AM setup. We are from neighbouring districts. The thing is I don’t know how to speak or start a conversation with her. Her profile was known to my family by a mutual relative, she has been with her family through schooling and college and rejected the job because her family didn’t want her to be away from them. Before telling me to speak to as a friend, I have female friends but all of them are either from my class or department in school and college so I know them well enough to speak and joke with them. So how do I start and hold conversations with her?

Supreme Court has now ruled that residence-based reservation in PG medical courses is impermissible.

So, what exactly is happening?

Currently, 50% of total medical seats fall under the state quota, which is typically reserved based on domicile. This is because states have heavily invested in building medical infrastructure.

However, if domicile based reservation is removed, everyone who has completed MBBS in a state, including the All India quota candidates, will be eligible for this 50% state quota.

Importantly, A Telangana student who studied 1 to 12 in Telangana & MBBS in some other state is now INELIGIBLE for the State Quota PG Medical Seats in Telangana as per the Judgement.

This means that even within the reserved state quota, candidates from outside the state can study here & then leave to work elsewhere. The entire purpose of reserving these seats to improve the quality & availability of doctors within the state is now lost.

Not to forget, the new NMC guidelines prohibit the establishment of new medical college seats in South India, simply because these states are already performing well.

But is it fair that states like Uttar Pradesh, with a population of 23.5 crore, have only 9,703 seats, which is 14,000 less than the norm, while others must bear the consequences of their inefficiency?

Now, let’s take the case of Telangana.

BRS Govt has made massive investments in medical infrastructure, making Telangana the first state in India to establish one govt medical college in every district.

But now:
1.Telangana is not allowed to increase its medical college seats due to NMC guidelines.
2.Telangana cannot implement domicile-based reservation for its state quota.

So, what’s left for Telangana? Bear the burden, build more colleges, train students from other states, send them back to their home states, and fail to improve the quality of medical professionals within the state.

How does this make any sense?

Scrapping domicile based reservations is a blow to equitable healthcare. States invest in their medical students to address local healthcare needs.

The solution lies in decentralization. Transferring Education to the State List would allow states to make decisions tailored to their unique needs and priorities, ensuring fair policies that truly benefit the people.

It’s time for all South Indian leaders to unite & demand this change for the future of healthcare in the region.

Supreme court just cancelled domiciliary/state quota in PG medical entrance.What essentially this means is that southern India which has painstakingly developed its State medical college infrastructure from states own peoples' tax money(Central govt only funds AIIMS and JIPMER) will lose its share in reservation for its own students(so far 50 % in TN) to All India Quota.Northern states have poor infra overall esp when it comes to Medical colleges save for delhi and another state and they r also complaining as they also have state Quotas for their natives

So far what students who finished MBBS in TN would do is write MRB exam to serve in rural PHCs for 3yrs inorder gain this 50% pg NEET Quota in TN state medical colleges .so now essentially there is no incentive for students to toil in Rural PHCs for a mere 50K which they can easily get in a metropolitan city in a private hospital,so health care in rural areas will take a toll.

More and More doctors from other state who doesn't understand our language will come and study PG in our state run colleges and complain about our rural poor patients not learning Hindi or English.Its gonna be chaos

Each and everyday supreme court and everyother administrative body in India is become a more and more of a hindutva/sangi loyalists than to respect the rights of the state

Vanakkam makkale.. I want to start a healthy discussion on the current state of our political system and the possibility of bringing a change that could liberate us atleast somewhat from the current political power manipulation.

India’s democracy is primarily representative meaning the makkal pradhinidhigal like MLAs, Councillors, Mayors, CM gain absolute control once voted in. They control all policies and budgetary allocations during their term and they do not have to answer for their decisions because we the people voted for them.

This indirect democracy has led to a situation where people vote for a party based on the promises of the party rather than needs of the people. We have no guarantee that a party will fulfill their promises or if those promises are even what the people need the most. And many many times we have seen these promises be just bogus words.

A possible solution to enable honest and stable growth could be to implement direct democracy for key policies and referendums. Let’s say there is a decision to build a flyover or a metro in a city. The people vote for it directly and regardless of which party comes, their priority would be to complete that project first.

This could be beneficial for better infrastructure, education and health related projects that many times fall to the whims of the ruling party. We have seen half built structures, buildings, half baked education policies that all end up wasting resources only because the incoming party does not follow up on the previous work. The impact ultimately is on the people whose taxes paid go to waste due to political rivalry and corruption.

Change will be difficult but it is possible. Question is should we bring such a change?

I am extremely addicted to Instagram and I’m willing to reduce the usage but I couldn’t. I tried time restriction mode from settings but avoids closure by pressing “skip today”. I tried uninstalling it but installed again. Is there any best way or an app to reduce the usage?

First of all I appreciate the mods of this group and r/chennai. Because a new kind of labelling is happening to the mods. Some posts ends with " I don't care if the post gets deleted by the mods because they delete if the post against certain party" as if the mods are biased. I don't know where they gets this idea from but to my knowledge mods aren't biased at all. Now coming to the point , see the below pic , it shows some cases against the members of political parties in the last few days. It has all the political parties involved, yet the sub is flooded with one particular incident alone. Some people comes up with a logic what will you do if someone from your family is affected. My man, if you truly cared you would flood the sub with other two incidents as well but you don't care about the incident, you care which party did what. I am just calling out the hypocrisy. Call out the incident, call out the criminal, call out the party if they defend the criminals, call out the police if they are mishandling. I don't know man but the reaction to the whole incident is making me feel like we are deviating from the actual issue and some people are actually doing disservice.
