Ralph Waldo Emerson once called it, "A grotesque place of land speculators and desperados." We just call it home. Tallahassee - that star on the Panhandle.

Body shop recommendations

Someone backed into my 2022 Corolla LE and damaged my rear bumper and dented in a part of my trunk. I was wondering if anyone has a body shop recommendation around town, or just go to the dealership

Moving companies recommendation?

Hi guys! Me and my husband are moving to Tallahassee next weekend. We love vintage furniture and have had solid luck finding great pieces on fb marketplace. But since it’s just the two of us and don’t know anyone there, we don’t think we’ll be able to transport them ourselves so just wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations! Any moving companies or movers who cater to these? Fiverr? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Anyone else get their "Voting Report Card" in the mail?

Just wondering if anyone else get their "Voting Report Card" in the mail. I'm pretty sure I have never got one of these before. It is from the CVI, Center for Voter Information. It has your past voter participation as well as it lists some of your neighbors and their past voter participation. Doesn't show who or what you voted for, only that you did or did not vote, which it says is all public information.

I'm a little unsure if I think this is a good thing or not and was curious what others thought.

It lists 221 W. Park Ave. here in Tallahassee as the local address.

Early Voting

Are we still able to vote today? I looked at the website and it says until the 3rd, but are the offices open on weekends? I know it's a stupid question, but I'm not sure.

Car Tune Up

Can someone please recommend a great place to get a tune up for a 2016 Honda Accord Sport? Is the normal price for a tune up 2K as this is the price the Honda dealership quoted me. I’m a woman so I’m just trying to make sure I get the best deal. 😭

Housing crisis in Tallahassee?

Hii Everyone, I am an international student and recently started looking for student housing in Tallahassee I am quite shocked to see that most of the accommodations have ridiculously low ratings on both Google and Yelp (Even the expensive ones). People are complaining a lot about bugs and hygiene issues in their apartments and vicious strategies used by their landowners to rip money of 'em.A lot of people also complained about extreme homelessness and maintenance issues seem to be a common occurrence in about every apartment I am checking. People also complained about places being different from those advertised.

I wanted to get uni accommodation but I was told that FSU doesn't have grad specific uni accommodation which is quite disheartening.

I am moving from Exeter, UK and this seems scary since I haven't faced such issues before, what would you guys think is a good strategy to get a decent apartment (600-900 USD ) without issues of basic sanitisation and shady tactics for money grabbing or du think the reviews are over-exaggeration of problems?

Any apartment suggestions are very much appreciated , cheers

Found bike taillight in Innovation Park

Around 7 PM this evening, I found a taillight that had fallen off of someone's bike at the intersection of Levy and Engineering. It was switched on. If you rode through there around that time and are now missing a taillight, please PM me and I can arrange to get it back to you.

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know anywhere I can get marigolds? With Day of the Dead tomorrow and the 2nd, I really want to find some marigolds. Today marks the anniversary of a loss for my girlfriend and she really wants to create an ofrenda for the loss, but she’s been unable to find any marigolds. Camping in the Apalachicola National Forest

I’m planning a trip to the Apalachicola NF to botanize and am wanting to camp in the area for several days. I’m a solo female and hoped y’all might be able to tell me if I’d be safe out there, generally speaking. I have friends who grew up in the area who tell me the NF can be a bit rowdy- any insight y’all can share with me on the matter?

Edit: thank you all for your comments! I will definitely heed your warnings about bear activity and will investigate the hunting dates more!

Fishing or Hunting Spots

Anyone know of any good shore fishing spots in or near Tallahassee? If possible, a place you can somewhat-easily pull up a truck near the shore. Looking to go fishing and bring my dog and gf but want them to at least be comfortable/safe and able to hang out.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on areas available to the public to hunt small, please let me know about that as well.
