I'm looking for sailing game recommendations for an RPG campaign. There's lots of pirate games, but I haven't found any with adequate ship mechanics. My favorite ship games are: Sunless Sea and Sid Meier's Pirates. I want a table top version of that. PS, space ships are also acceptable.
Features I'm hoping for:
-Lots of ship customization.
-Detailed navel combat.
-Wind direction effects movement.
Hey all. What are some good sci fi tabletop wargaming alternatives to Warhammer? I'm getting bored with Warhammer (and I'd rather not spend that kind of money anymore) and I'd like to get recommendations on a good (preferably hard sci fi) tabletop game.
There was a tabletop rpg I saw a kickstarter for a while back but I can't remember the name of it. The concept was humanity lives underground in a seeminigly infinate shaft, with a spiral stair going all the way up to the top. Some curse from the surface causes everything dead to reanimate and attack the living. Every layer above the current level that people live on is overrun with thier ancestral dead. The party consists of people who explore the upper levels and plunder it for treasures.
Anyone aware of this game, and if so could you tell me the name?
Hey Reddit! I wanted to share a story I’m really proud of. A few months ago, my 9-year-old daughter, Mira, got really into video games and decided she wanted to make one herself. As a gamer, I was all for it, but we soon realized how complicated that process is—coding, 3D modeling, you name it.
So Mira came up with a simpler (and honestly, cooler) idea: she wanted to create a Trading Card Game. I thought, “Why not?” I showed her some design tools like MidJourney, Canva, and Figma, gave her a quick intro to card design, and let her run with it.
By the end of the first day, Mira had created over 50 unique cards. I was floored. Her creativity blew me away, and it was so inspiring to see her take full ownership of this project.
Fast forward five months: We’ve been working together to fully develop her game, and now I’m excited (and a little nervous) to announce that SkyKnights is officially real—and it’s available for pre-orders!
SkyKnights is a tabletop trading card game with dice-driven gameplay. It’s great for fans of strategy games, trading card games, and even D&D-style combat. We poured so much into the design, balancing, and storytelling to make something we’d love to play ourselves.
If you’re into this kind of thing, you can check it out at https://skyknights.co. Pre-orders are open now, and if you order soon, you can get it in time for Christmas!
Honestly, though, I’m just super excited to share this experience with Mira and see her vision come to life. It’s been such a rewarding project, and I couldn’t be prouder of her.
Thanks for reading, and if you have any questions about the game—or just want to chat about TCGs or tabletop games—drop them below. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I’m considering a pbm-game where the players control powerful houses, much like in Dune, and would like recommendations for rule systems. I’ve been looking at various faction rules in rpg:s, and the 1989-ies pbm WLTP, but thought I’d ask here as well.
I am looking for suggestions on where to find a good dedicated gaming table. I am NOT looking for a table that can double as a dining room table; I have a dining room table in my dining room, I am now looking for a dedicated gaming table to go in a dedicated gaming room. When I’ve looked online what I’ve mostly found among high end gaming tables are pieces whose virtues seem to be their ability to convert from gaming to being very nice dining tables. While I am not turned off by a gaming vault or topper pieces, I am much more interested in desks and drawers built in for players, cup holders, or other sorts of things I can’t even imagine right now. I remember years ago looking at the old Geek Chic Sultan table and imagining the day I could get one of those; now I’m looking for something along that line. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Being a professor of game design, occasionally I get inspired by my courses to make stuff. This game came out of a brainstorming session in class, where I fleshed it out later into what it is now. A lot of my inspirations were Gaslands and Malifaux, and I remixed a lot of One Page Rules as the foundation.
My goal was to make something that focused more on what I love, the conversions or kitbashing of making models for the game. And also create a game that I could play with my kids or my students who have no experience with wargames at all.
So this is for a S.T.A.L.K.E.R ttrpg and I don’t know this system please help and I’m sorry if this doesn’t belong here I’m just really stuck
Hi! I’m interested in trying out tabletop RPG’s for a creative project. I’ve played a few rounds of D&D before but I’m more interested in exploring the genre from a creative perspective. What is a good place to start?
Trying to open a table top gaming lounge but I am trying to figure out do I do 5-15$ an hour, or per person for someone is at a table? Do I just not charge for the use of my tables? Do I just try to keep my business open using the drink and card prices? What do yall suggest?
Hello Guys we from InternalRockStudio present you our popular one shot the Abbey converted to DnD 5e. It was originally made for fun for the game jam Knave 2024 and now got a DnD Conversion. You can download it for free from our Patreon here for free.
The 3rd level adventure brings the adventurer into the dark Abbey, forsaken by the light of hope. They will learn what happened to the monks of the Abby and fight against the undead that now infest the once bright cloister.
All the material to run it online like tokens and battlemaps are included in the post on patreon here for you.
Have fun, roll nat 20s and see you later.
My husband is a gamer and skilled woodworker and often makes custom items for his games - storage boxes, card holders to use during tournaments (Star Wars/Lorcana), etc.
What do you wish were cheaper/easier to find?
I recently did a little video review of His Majesty The Worm, and part of my critiques was that while making use of tarot cards and somewhat incorporating the usage of suits for the class and action system, but no usage of the thematics or artwork that is inherent to tarot cards, and many other tarot based games have a similar issue. In instances like above, I don’t see why one wouldn’t just stick with a d12 rather than leaning into what seems to me a clunkier gimmick. Are there any ttrpgs that make really incredible use of tarot cards?
Hi! I’m new to this subreddit (though I’ve played TTRPGs for over ten years now), so I hope this is okay to post here.
I have a very specific type of game I’m interested in playing, but I’m not sure what system(s) would be best for it, if one even exists for it. The concept can be explained loosely as “if Stardew Valley was an RPG”, but let me be a bit more specific by what I mean by that:
Basically, I’m looking for something where running a small business is (or can be) a major part of the game, complete with fantasy economics. When not running the business, the players can live life in a fantasy village and go on small-scale quests, though the coziness of home is the big part.
I know that sounds extremely nerdy (I may be the only person on earth who would get excited over making a spreadsheet and marketing strategy for a fantasy business), but I’ve seen a lot of jokes and comics about this style of game, only I haven’t seen anyone talk about if it actually exists.
Do any of y’all have any pointers?
Hi everyone.
For my next project I am looking to create my own version of a character box and I am looking for suggestions for what to include. I would very much like to hear as many opinions on the matter as possible to get a gauge of what the average player would want.
Personally, if I ever become a player instead of a DM I don't think I'd end up using a dicetray that much, but I might be a minority.
What I have considered so far:
I have made a quick Google Forms poll where it's possible to vote for what you'd want included in your ideal character box: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdY_Qp5q3kDKpebR2dOp_FHVnH9Bo3o9R2NqIgtIxDMmlCDzQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
If you have any other suggestions or ideas, feel free to let me know.
As always, once I have finished the designs, the 3D files will be available for free on my Patreon so you can print one for yourself.
