I need some recommendations for games with specific mechanics!

I've been spending some time thinking about developing a game just to play with friends, but I'm having trouble adapting an idea. I wanted to make a game with betrayal and player elimination mechanics, but I wanted players to be eliminated in a discreet way, because after death they would play as ghosts and other players would only discover the death when they found the body of the eliminated player (as an adaptation of games like Among Us) I've looked on board game websites and forums and so far I haven't found a way to adapt these digital game mechanics to board games. I would like to receive game recommendations or ideas on how I can do it based on other similar mechanics.

Trying to game with two toddlers

My wife and I used to play a bunch of board games. we had beat Gloomhaven and were in the process of just doing side quests and stuff when we had kids almost 5 years ago.

Fast forward to now and we haven’t played any board or video games since, there’s just not really enough time to feel invested or accomplished by starting anything.

Our schedule is starting to get gaps where maybe we could get almost 2 hours to play something, but Gloomhaven takes about 20 minutes to set up and another 20 to get all cleaned up, and frost haven looks slightly more daunting.

Is there any games that have any strategic depth but can be routinely finished in about 90 minutes?

We really enjoyed dominion for a while, but even with a bunch of expansions card games feel a little stale after a while especially with only two people.

Does anyone know about a good tabletop game that focuses on PVP and uses six-sided dice?

I'm just curious about any games that have an interesting mechanic that uses dice. Or something that is just plain fun.

Mediterranean card games?

Whenever I go to a Mediterranean country, like Spain or Italy, I usually notice a couple of grandpas sitting around either at a cafe or in a park playing cards. And I’m always curious what they’re playing.

So I’m just wondering, are there any games famous / common in these parts of the world you could expect a couple of grandpas in a park to be playing?

"AMOK" a quick and easy skirmish game

Howdy, I have spent a couple of months working on a quick-to-learn skirmish game for my D&D group to play when we have time and I think it's safe to say we love it! It all started when we were waiting for that last player who always showed up late to the sesh, we were ready to sink our teeth into the game but had to wait, we considered pulling out a random board game but by the time we'd be getting rolling the player would show up, so I thought I could throw something together to fill that need, and I think we have. Creating a combatant and setting up the game board doesn't take more than 5 minutes and then you can jump right into tearing each other apart. One of the most fun parts about this is, and I quote from my buddy who's played "We can kill each other without being attached to a character and then just remake one." And this game isn't anything super special, it's just fun! And my group has enjoyed it, I don't plan right now on doing anything with it like publishing or selling it, but I thought you lot might want to try it out! So I'll attach the pdf and please let me know y'all's thoughts! AMOK Rules

OverPower Revival + Print and Play Decks

New publisher "Lazarus Rising Games" (hah) is resurrecting the OverPower card game. I was a big fan of the original game back in the 90s. I know a few of the folks on the design team for the revival and it looks so impressive. Really gorgeous artwork. They just released some print and play demo decks.

why isn´t there any other games like chess?

Knowing how popular chess is, it´s weird there is no more games like them eg. symetrical (or close to being symetrical) 1 v. 1 complex no luck involved board games. Go is similar and is great. Also there is a lot of variations. And i guess chekers. But it feels like it should be its own big genre but it isn´t. If you know any other game like that please tell me because i would like to try it out. Go is amazing but is such a shame there is no online comunity to play with like there is on chess.

Help! I am currently set to be DnD DM soon and I need some advice on 3d printing to print models.

For context, my models should be detailed, as I want to paint them too, and if possible the printer shouldn't make us go in debt. Any suggestions are helpful, including filament tips too!

Hey guys, we from Internal Rock Studio are back with a Development Update of our Squad Based TTRPG inspired by Battle Brothers. Today we want to talk about character creation and made a big post about it here.

If you never heard about us, we made a itchio page for the rule set. You can get a rough idea there, what the rule set is about.

If you want to be kept in the loop you can join our patreon for free, we will make public posts about its development there. If you want to go above and beyond you can support us there, we will use the money to improve the project.

We also made a discord to hang out and talk, we would love if you join us.

InternalRockStudio out.

Chivalry is Dead: Race for the Crown - Campaign ending soon

Hi All,

So in the light promotion category. Our new game is funded on Kickstarter and the campaign ends in a little less than a week. It’s a fantasy chariot racing game featuring various D&D-style races in a 1 or 2 lap race. There are 8 teams to choose from, including Dwarves, Goblins, and Kobolds. Players can set traps and sabotage the chariots, adding an exciting twist to the competition! We'd love for you to take a look and your support of course if it looks like something you'd be interested in.

Selling Homebrew TTRPG Stuff

So I am a freelance writer and I want to expand what I do to make premade adventures. But I can't really find a definitive answer on selling homebrewed content. The stuff wouldn't be just for DnD stuff but other kinds of TTRPGs of fandoms (Avatar the Last Airbender, My Little Pony, etc). I'm just kind of lost on what is allowed and is not allowed in this scope. The last thing I need and want is a company emailing me and taking me to court for something like this. I figured IP specifics like names, locations, etc, would be off-limits. But what about me using the TTRPG system, is that allowed? Plots would be original with custom maps and characters. Any and all help on this manner would be great, thanks.

Best superhero genre for PvP

Im looking to branch out with my table away from Dungeons and Dragons and into other tabletop systems, and my players have a hankering to have half of them play heroes and the other half play villains. As a DM, I dont mind refereeing pvp, but I want whatever system we choose to be fair but still not limit creativity.

We tried GURPS but some people didnt like it. Mutants and Masterminds was fun but it wasnt balanced for a pvp type of experience (and I wager most of them wont be either but it is what it is). D&D5e is obviously not an option, or any of the pathfinders, we are specifically looking for something more of a modern setting like DC or Marvel

Physical building component games for kids (6yo)

I have a kid that want to invent and build. We have tried many ttg that involved more, imaginary building scenarios but he eventually just wants to stack the cards and resources to actually build something. Does anyone here have recommendations for cooperative, low conflict/crashing scenario, building games for younger players? We’re looking for games where you actually build a structure or use the resources you collect to assemble things. We have so many HABA games but he’s ready to graduate to something with potentially more game mechanics.

Thanks!

Best games to start a Collection?

I'm starting a game board collection to play with my friends. I'd be interested in games that doesn't have many text, because I'll buy it in English because it's much cheaper than in my language, and not all of my friends can speak English.

The games I have: Catan, Dixit, Azul, Ticket to Ride, coup, exploding kittens
