Seeking Help!

Hello gamers and game designers! My team started working on a tabletop game some time ago and we took a break over the winter to do some other things but we are now back at it with hopes of releasing our game to the world by the end of 2024. With only 1 person actually working on the game itself, progress is slow so we’ve decided to reach out and seek opportunistic individuals that want to create something different and challenging for people in the gaming community to enjoy! The game is a fantasy tabletop RPG similar to those like D&D and Pathfinders, although it utilizes a brand new system that’s been handcrafted and meticulously picked apart to be both unique and exciting while retaining player interaction. If this sort of opportunity speaks to you and you wish to get involved, please let me know and we can discuss what you can do to help bring this project to life. Thank you, everyone!

Game Table Suggestions

Looking to get a dining room table that doubles as a game table. Any suggestions/recommendations from anyone that has a table like this? I'm more worried about functionality/durability ensuring food/liquid doesn't seep through. Is this the right sub for these questions? Thanks!

What is your opinion on playing tabletop/board games remotely with friends and family?

Pretty much what the title says, if you want to play tabletop/board games with friends or family that are far away do you guys find version of the game online? Or not? Most of my friends are far and I like playing board games with them but the online versions are either too expensive, or sketchy, or don't support mobile, its always hard to find them.

What tabletop game can help a 9-year old learn multiplication.

My little sister has been having a little bit of trouble learning the multiplications (the 1-12 multiplication), and me and my big sister want to try and get a board game or something of the sort to try and make learning fun for her.

Any board game/tabletop/card game that can help her out?

Tapeless Skirmish games

After years of 40K and KT, I've finally branched out and started playing Deadzone, Dreadball, Overdrive, Blood Bowl, and X-Wing because none of those games use tape measures. I like the pleasure of not having to measure distances with anything other than a finger. To count hexes or squares.

What other skirmish games exist out there that are similarly tapeless?I'd like to find a fantasy one soon.

Edit: needs to be on a grid/hex board.

2 Player Co-Op RPG's for beginners?

My partner and I love playing boardgames, but neither of us have tried any RPGs at all. I'm looking for some recommendations on beginner-level RPG's with relatively easy learning curves that can be played in under 4hrs, that are 2 Player Co-Op friendly.

SOIAF

Anyone here play the Song of Ice and Fire ttrpg? I have the book and a story idea but having a hard time finding people to play since it's a system me and my friends have never run before. If you have played what is your experience? What was your campaign like?

Hobby Store

What are some aspects of your local hobby store that you don’t like?

What services or features do you wish more brick and mortar stores had?

Thinking of opening a local store as there aren’t any on my particular end of town. Would love to cultivate a friendly environment and fair practices that benefit consumers.

Thoughts?

Is there any videogame you think it could become a nice wargame?

Fallout, Halo, World of Tanks... these are just some of the most famous franchises that have attempted the way of the tabletop, often leading to.... mixed results, to put it mildly.

Yet, if YOU had the chance to create a miniature-based wargame based on a videogame franchise, what would it be? I personally believe a Kill Team/Infinity-Like game based on Mass Effect would be incredible!

1.5" hex game board

I really want to play some tabletop games with larger minifigs primarily around 40mm and would like to get a hex board / mat that would accommodate them.

I found some good 1" boards on Amazon but I can't seem to find anything larger. Do I just make one?

Anyone have any recommendations?

Weird recommandations

I’m looking for weird, off-beat, little rpgs, that feel like they’d belong in a zine. I know that’s kind of vague, so I understand it the post can’t stay up.

I’m recalling a weird one where one of the classes is Nixon or JFK, alongside more general classes. I think I heard of it on Dice Exploder or Game Studies Study Buddies.

Is Scythe worth it?

Hello, Reddit! I know that this question fits weird in this sub, especially when r/scythe exists, but I want to avoid circlejerking, therefore I want to ask people with a bit more objective opinion and with more general experience regarding various tabletop games: is Scythe worth it? I stumbled upon it after falling in love with Iron Harvest (even if I know they are not the same genre) and I know it's kinda popular, but does it still hold up in 2024?

Looking for a Victorian supernatural PnP

Hello tabletop community! About a year ago I briefly came across a PnP Ruleset that I found very intruiging, but I cannot find it anymore. Also not on google withaforementioned keywords, so I hope you'll be able to help me out.

Here's what I (think I) remember:

  • It's set in a Victorian era-
  • The players are under the command of the queen and have to fight the supernatural
  • They party has a shared resource pool that the have to assemble beforehand
  • If the players prepared wrong they have to abort the mission and try again in the next session
  • Maybe there was something about magic corruption?

That's all I can remember, I hope you guys can help me out on this one! All hints are welcome!

P.S.: I'm quite sure it is not candela obscura, as this has not been made public at that time.

Tabletop recommendations

Hello! I have come here to ask anyone who saw the title to give recommendations of tabletops I could get to play with my friends. I usually play dnd 5e, but my group is kind of humm... off script. That's fine and all, but because of that is hard to complete campaigns because they get derailed really easily, not to mention the amount of time the dm needs to spend preparing those in the first place. With that in mind:

  1. Would like it for being a ttrpg, since I would like a game that could be played during multiple sessions (campaigns)

  2. The less demand from the dm the better. This could be by using any pre built adventure or just play against the table type of deal.

  3. Would like for the game to be as much of dumb fun as possible (although games with serious themes can also work)

  4. Would like a game with any certain background. By this I mean games with settings like fantasy, cyberpunk, lovecraftian, etc.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Is LootHoarder a legit site?

Hey, Reddit. During my everlasting quest to find new miniatures to paint and new games to play I stumbled upon a site called https://www.loothoarder.com, which sells mostly battletech miniatures with the smoking sick design of the games, rather than the tabletop variant.
Design-wise, price-wise and policy-wise, they sound very convincing, but is it too good to be true?

Is “FLYOS” a trustworthy company?

Hey folks, I came across this gamewhile scrolling around BGG. I love Werewolf The Apocalypse so I started documenting myself on what this was about. I think it’s pretty neat as a game but what I’m scared of is the company as I don’t know it at all…did anybody had any experience with them? Are they trustworthy? As far as I’ve read they created 3 different kickstarter campaigns, for 3 different tabletop games (the one linked is included in this number) and all 3 were successful. But they haven’t delivered a single one yet, at least as far as I’m aware. Since this game is pretty costly I would prefer not getting scammed, that is all. They aren’t radio-silent tho, their last major update was published February 6th of this year and some of their comments on the kickstarter comment section are 5 days old so not much… If anyone more knowledgeable than me has any info on it please share it here. Thanks in advance.

Harry Potter Themed RPG

Hey, I have very little experience in any RPGs beyond 5e. I have a group interested in doing a Harry Potter themed game. I am willing to learn the rules to a new system, but I have zero idea how to evaluate the pros and cons of different systems. These are the systems I have found so far. Any recommendations between these and I would appreciate hearing why you encourage or discourage them? Any others you know of?

Witchcraft and Wizardry

Wands and Wizards

Wizarding World

Hogwarts

Harry Potter: RPG

Harry Potter and the Tabletop RPG

Some of the group have DND experience, some have no RPG experience. I am a fairly experienced DM in 5e and would be willing to learn any system. I just don't want to learn a stupid system that won't be fun for my players.

Thank you so much and I will try to reply to any questions about the group that would help answer this question!

Virtual streaming Table Top

I was thinking about setting up a stream for 4 player Tabletop games using discord, where I will DM.

Do you think people would watch or join ? I think it would be awesome to find people to play tabletop games with from home, I could set up a varieties of cameras with stat sheets and a camera for an automated dice rolls :)

Has Anyone Used an Octagonal Poker Table For Gaming?

I'm sure it'll sound silly for some, but I am searching for some people's experience in the pro/con's of using an octagonal poker table vs a normal board gaming table.

While searching for a board gaming table, I found a relatively inexpensive poker table. I am less concerned with saving the money as my spouse and I are ready to pull the trigger on a gaming table; but this seems almost too good to pass up!

I would love and appreciate all input, thank you!
