About
Welcome to /r/Sushi. As you might've guessed, this subreddit is dedicated to sharing pictures, recipes, and tips and tricks related to sushi. However, you will also discover an enthusiastic community always willing to dole out advice as to the best sushi restaurant to go to, where to find places that contain unique treasures such as Kohada or REAL wasabi. We're glad you found us, feel free to share a picture from your most recent restaurant trip, or some that you've made at home!
Sushi means different things to different people. We encourage posting of all kinds of maki (rolls), nigiri (fish with rice), sashimi (just fish), and many things in between, including chirashi, kimbap, and cucumber rolls.
I – It's okay to have a different opinion, it's not okay to be condescending. Attacks against people on the sub will not be tolerated. Vitriol leveled against the food posted may be deleted if it’s mean-spirited and doesn’t meaningfully contribute to a discussion.
II – Post to contribute, not to promote. It's okay to occasionally link to your (sushi-related) blog or post a tutorial video that happens to be from your Youtube channel. However, if your posts are mostly promotional in nature, they will be considered spam, and dealt with accordingly.
III– Homemade Sushi. Feel free to tag your homemade sushi with [H] this allows others to find your work more easily and will (eventually) let automoderator give it a special flair.
IV – No Memes. Enough said.
V – We define sushi broadly. Sushi, sashimi, musubi, onigiri, and poke are all welcome here. Your post will be deleted if it doesn't contain either sushi or something immediately adjacent to sushi.

Maintenance dudes are in the middle of fixing my AC. Gave them sushi so they bust ass, bc it’s hot in here!
I found this recipe, it calls for tuna, but I'm using a different combo for the tuna. I really wanted to have a salmon crudo, but not sure this flavor combo would work. What are your thoughts?
Calabrian chili, orange juice and zest, vidalia onion.
I normally just go with salmon sashimi because salmon is good as it is, and I've recently tried and liked tuna tataki, but I'm studying for finals and I want some more calories to go with that brain food, so what are your favorite rolls that have tuna or salmon in them? But I'm kind of considering getting tuna tataki again, so hm...
😋
Tuna was caught over the summer and just pulling out now and it has quite a discoloration, I don't think I'm gonna use it for raw consumption but will cook it up. No smell or anything when I opened her up
I like eating sashimi because I think it’s super clean and healthy. It makes me feel better about myself, knowing I’m making a good choice!
The whole BUT part is that I find that it’s plain as heck to the point of being flavorless.
Texture is smooth and squishy which doesn’t bother me.
Things in nature with the most flavor seem to be predominantly fruit.
I’m wondering if anyone disagrees with my opinion on sashimi having no flavor.
Is it just me?
we went out to eat at a sushi place in miraflores peru named mr.sushi, i took the trout off my sushi roll because i don’t like trout very much and i wanted to give it to my boyfriend, but he ate it in one bite and it tasted VERY strongly of chlorine, however it smelled totally normal? do we need to worry???
Turns out im eating way too much much tuna and it has mercury. I need cheap alternatives, im a broke college student and tuna onigiri is very convenient and easy and cheap. Anything like it in onigiri? Thanks! Im thinking canned beans or something like this or eggs? Idk
Edit : please stop telling me im not ingesting mercury enough for it to kill me, I just don't want mercury in my system, is that so much to ask?
I'm at my favorite local sushi place and I finally tried their green tea. It's the most amazing tea I've ever had and I got curious so I opened the lid. What's going on in there??
Made this for my lady so she doesn’t have to buy lunch while she’s at the office today.
There's this place in my city that is specialized in sushi (they only do all-you-can-eat). I wanted to go there with my boyfriend for Christmas, but after seeing the price, I'm not so sure. We're students so we're not rich either. I know 35$ is expensive, but it is for an all-you-can-eat and its really good sushi, so idk. Anyways, is it an average price / really worth it?
hey there! just went to the japanese market for the first time and picked up a bunch of stuff, including frozen imitation crabstick.
im making the rolls tonight and was wondering if it is okay to thaw these in cold water or in the fridge? i have about 9-10 hours until i need to use it.
any help appreciated and so excited to finally join this community
Delicious fresh
(not technically sushi) I went to Japan last year and had this. It wasn't specifically a sushi restaurant but it had a focus on seasonal food. I really liked it even though I haven't been a huge fan of raw fish in the past :)
