Closing check list

Anyone know where I can find a closing and opening check list in Copy center? I have an associate refusing to do anything because she wasn’t “taught” to do anything and I am trying to add stuff to her “work load”? Which is 1000% not accurate and she is EXTREMELY rude and extremely disrespectful. Extremely unprofessional, unable to approach her with anything because “I’m always in the wrong”😑

Surveys are stupid

Long angry rant sorry in advance!

Easy tech here. The other day, I spent about 5 hours of my shift with a customer who had a brand new (like a week brand new) laptop that was beyond infected. Like couldn’t connect to TSOC infected. So I spent my shift trying to help the guy. I am a cybersecurity major so I know a thing or two (can’t wait for the day I can get out of this hell hole). I ran the ET toolbox and did the virus removal, as he had purchased McAfee from us, and found nothing. The machine was still acting funny, so I did some digging and found a suspicious user account and removed it. I also found that he had implemented a power on password and a hard disk password. Customer claimed he has a hacker that has been after him constantly and he lost control of his computer after connecting to a public wifi network. If you want my honest opinion, homeboy has a porn problem, and not just any porn, child porn. However, i found no evidence of such in my basic searches so i continued like the good faithful associate I am. I get it working well, customer comes to pick up said machine and right before he leaves he informs me that he hasn’t been able to connect to wifi. I find this odd and so i go to his settings and sure enough there is no option to toggle wifi. I go to command prompt and search for his ip address, and sure enough there is no option for a wireless setting. So i spend another 45 minutes searching through google to fix said issue, and finally i go into BIOS and homeboy had disabled all wireless connections. I try to reenable it but am unable to do so has he, or his “hacker,” had locked every setting in BIOS and i was unable to fix it. So after consulting with my manager we decided to return the laptop and get him a new one. We get it set up and put his McAfee on it and when he takes it home, he is super happy and grateful we fixed it. However, today we find that this jerk had given us a bad survey because he “lost important data,” after he had informed us that there was nothing saved on that machine (and my searching can confirm so). Like hold up, you were happy when I helped you. When I sat patiently explaining to you how your damn computer works so you don’t mess it up again, you were so grateful. But now you screw us over to corporate. Thanks a lot. He will not be getting our services again next time he is in store, we will turn him to the pc company or Asurion because I’m not helping another pedo with their damn computer. Sorry for the vent just pretty pissed off.

Easy Rewards - Ink Cartridge Recycling

I’ve been taking advantage of the Easy Rewards offer to recycle ink cartridges for 500 points each. I’ve noticed, however, that the offer period usually runs into the next month. For example, this last offer period ends today, February 1, according to my app. My understanding is I’m only able to use the offer one time during each offer period (i.e. because I already recycled 10 cartridges in January, recycling any ink cartridges today would have netted me only 100 points per cartridge). Am I right, or would I have received 500 points per cartridge because it’s a new month?

Rewards Fraud

Have yall noticed anybody but in the same number ten times (222-222-2222)? Had a customer use such number while I was ringing them up and it popped up with many rewards numbers under that phone number.

Refund with ESP?

Newbie asking "If a customer bought a printer, computer or chair with ESP; what is the allowed timeframe to return to Staples with a refund?" I know ESP is for repair and tech support but is a refund allowed past the 14 day window but less than one year before a claim is filed with Asurion?

Manager has posted about owning whites slaves.

This person has been on me more and more lately, and I had no idea why. Recently, a social media platform suggested I become “friends” with this person; I just followed them.

I have screenshots of this person stating that they want to own white slaves.

I am afraid of retaliation if I move forward with this, but I do not feel like this is someone that I am comfortable working with/under. I’m not sure if/how to proceed.

Second Bias Transfer Roll "Replaced" message on self serve

From time to time I'll get the above message on the self serve screens where it says "replaced". But nothing was replaced. Am I expected to replace the transfer roll? Anyone else experience this?

Tariffs, Staples, And Amazon Returns

I buy nothing from Amazon, and refuse to. I hate them, I hate Bezos, and I hate Amazombies. With the impending tariffs, all the shit made in China that these people returning everything in sight buy is about to skyrocket in price.

Amazon Returns could plummet. And Amazon, so reliant on selling cheap shit, could get slammed.

Oh, happy day!

Theory- why we still do Amazon Returns, and will until Staples liquidates

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about this. One theory I have has to do with the GM/DM old school philosophy that front end people should be in perpetual motion. So, what to do when business is slow? Amazon Returns. Sure Mr Bezos, we will do it for free, and pray it gets us more foot traffic. And keep the schlubs always moving, because they don’t have enough to do all shift long.

Bad business decisions, time after time.

Worst Amazon customer ever

Busy all day in the store. Two $1800 computer sales going on at the same time. Register backed up, copy center backed up. Finally things calmed down. Manager finished with customer and walked over to tech and told him he could leave to get son to doctor. Manager begins to walk to copy center to assist only to be yelled at by amazon giant accusing them of chit chatting and not caring about the customers. He continued to degrade Manager and tell them that he knows for a fact that Staples gets huge kick back from Amazon. oops managers breaking point ---- they look him straight in the eye and said nope we get nothing but your disrespect, but please feel free to use the UPS store the next time I'm sure they are much faster. This manager busts their butt every day and for this customer to say she is lazy and don't care is absurd. They are the nicest kindest employee we have.

will i get fired

sooo basically during my shift (i’m a cashier) someone came up and bought like.. a lot of money in gift cards. i’m talking like ~$800 plus fees. it was really busy and my manager wasn’t available, so i was just going to let him pay. i selected the credit card option and let him know he had to insert his card. he said he wanted to try tapping and did so before i could really stop him. i’m not even sure if it was some sort of fraud but given that apple pay doesn’t require a pin to add a card i definitely think it’s a high possibility. is this something i would get terminated for?

edit: wanted to add that i work for staples canada

Poster Printing

I am going to a convention and want to print a custom 12×18 poster to have signed and autographed but I see the material options all say "1-year indoor lifespan." Will these printed posters stand the test of time if kept indoors under UV window and glass protection? Will the colors/prints fade no matter what precautions are taken eve if kept away from the sun? Curious what my best options are.

Update: I got the job. Couple questions..

  1. How long does it take to get the background check email? He is supposed to resend today.

  2. How long does background check take? I've lived in two neighboring states.

  3. Will a 12 year old Assault 4 Misdemeanor disqualify me? I don't see it doing so; it rarely causes issues.

Thanks guys. Excited to becoming a Stapler ™️!

Do all Staples stores accept USPS drop off?

I see a new offer in the Staples app, 50 points for package drop off, UPS or USPS. When I check Staples.com, it shows UPS and USPS logos. But when I click to get more info, it just goes to a list of store locations. Each store I click on shows a UPS logo but not USPS. I ship a lot through USPS (but not UPS), so this would be great if I can drop off my prepaid packages and get points for it.

Electronic Recycling

Very curious to know where all of the recycled electronics in the gaylord go after the truck collects them.

Plus, is it advisable to do a full master reboot (i.e. memory wipeout) of the laptop before dropping it off to the store

Can the manager write me up for this?

The store has been struggling with its rewards and getting people to use the promotions. The goal post keeps moving too. We struggled getting a 50% rewards report for the store overall. Now we’re expected to have 70%. That doesn’t happen ever without having to cheat. I know my coworkers and managers put in other peoples number in place of those who don’t have rewards, to inflate the report.

The general manager is hostile. He yells at the other managers and basically bullies them into trying hard to get good numbers for the store. My managers would much rather spend their own money on esp just to not tell him they didn’t got any.

I guess my manager got it pretty bad from the general manager because now he’s claiming to write up anyone who doesn’t get 70% rewards.

It’s so annoying. We have a skeleton crew every day with 4 people in a big store doing multiple jobs at once. All of that work with the added pressure to get rewards, promotions and esp that people don’t need or want. Amazon returns takes away from everyone’s time. It causes so much traffic that real customers have to wait and grow upset. They won’t care about anything we have to offer they just want to buy and go.

I’m genuinely tired of working here. It’s way too demanding for the very little time I get while I’m on the clock. I’m not trying to go over my scheduled time either because there’s no reason work that hard. I’m barely getting paid well enough to justify the effort. They only care about the numbers and try to squeeze whatever they can get out of me cause “a good worker will do everything for their job.” Hell fucking no

Anyways that’s my rant. I’m looking for a new job. I might go unemployed just cause I’m tired of this place and they can go figure out what to do next themselves.

The manager wants to write people up for not meeting the rewards, promotion, and esp goals. I get 50-60% usually. I don’t see it as a big deal but to them it’s everything. So that means I get written for not meeting the quota

Missing Reward Points/Dollars at Checkout.

Easy Rewards on my Staples app shows I have “10 available dollars (2,000 points)”. But when I hit Redeem Points at checkout it shows: “Available: $8 (1,600 points)”

Can anyone help me understand why my total dollars/points aren’t available at checkout?

Thanks!

————————-

EDIT: Staples finally responded to my email. They wrote the following: “Rewards may be used in dollar increments and can not be used on tax, so for example if you are purchasing an item that is $8.25, you can use $8.00 in rewards and will use an alternate method of payment to complete the purchase.”

Thanks again to everyone who responded to this post. Have a great day!
