Hello, I need help with a parking ticket I received in the mail for not having a parking pass at Lions Beach. The issue is, that I've never been to Lions Beach or near St. Joseph with my car. My car has always stayed in my state. Furthermore, the car description on the ticket doesn't match my vehicle at all - it's for a completely different model of car and color. I tried contacting the numbers on the St. Joseph website, but whenever I call, I am directed straight to voicemail.
This summer I've noticed tents set up in the shelter on the top of the stairs on the bluff. Does anyone know what's up with this? Is it a homeless encampment? Just seems like such a weird place for the city to allow peopel to have tents set up.
Anyone know any local beekeepers that sell their own honey by the pound?
I hope you'll excuse the probably naive or uninformed question.. but as the title states why isn't there any kind of grocer in the downtown area?
My wife and I are keen on moving to the area, particularly for the walkability/biking as we want to live in a community that doesn't require a car as heavily as our current one does. We're eyeing the Kiwanis park area as that puts us walking/biking distance to work (hospital), beach, and downtown, and even the elementary school. However it looks like the closest grocery stores are Hardings or Martins to the South.
We're coming in this weekend for a little family vacation. Any suggestions on good hiking spots (doesn't need to be in St. Joseph, could be around) and any other suggestions on kid friendly activities. We're planning on hitting up the beach as much as possible, but it's possible the weather might stop us, so I'd like to have a few options in my back pocket. Any suggestions on must go date night spot my husband and I could hit up after kids go to bed. Thank you!!

Heading out to the beach tomorrow, and possibly getting there around noon. Can anyone confirm if that is a bad time to go (parking wise)? thanks in advance!
Hello hello,
I'll possibly be traveling to St. Joseph. I got no cars, do you think I can get around with Lyft/Uber there? And if I wanna go to nearby places like, I dunno, South Haven/Watervliet/Lake Michigan Beach, is it easy to go there?
Thanks!
🙏🙏🙏
Heading to the area next week. Is the lake a good temp for swimming yet? I've heard it's too cole until August sometimes.
Group of mid-twenties girls spending a long weekend in St Joe’s area. Looking for fun activities, must eat places, must see sights, any fun bars in the area?
Open to all recs, thank you!
What’s up with all the recent graffiti with the 44. I assumed it was a BH gang thing.
We are planning to visit St. Joseph next week. The hotels in St. Joseph are expensive to me. I'm looking for other options. I heard Benton Harbor is not very safe. What do you recommend? Any specific area for hotels or any specific hotel ?
Hi there! Are there any boat rental places open?
I have contacted a couple that I found online, but none have reached back out to me.
Family and I are heading out and besides cupcakes, ice cream, the toy shop, beach, carousel, and silver beach pizza is there anything else we should take a look at?
I know, I know, half this sub are these posts. My family is thinking about relocating to the St Joes area from Grand Rapids. Everything I've seen looks like it's a great spot. Near amazing beaches, good restaurant and bar scene for the town's size, good schools, and from what I gather a strong sense of 'community'. One question I have that I haven't seen is how religious is the area? My wife and I are both not religious at all--and fairly liberal-- and I've found in our area the first question we get asked when meeting someone is "What church do you go to?". Everyone is very friendly but there's definitely a clickyness to it all. I'm assuming most towns in W Michigan are this way, but curious about the particularities of St Joseph. Ultimately we're longing for a greater sense of community that isn't reliant on our religious views.
Are Airbnb and Vrbo mostly used for renting for month long vacations? Or are there other sites for the area that I can utilize to see houses that might be available for the month of August?
West Michigan Travel
My wife and I are going to western Michigan this summer and wanted to know what locals think of our travel plans. I'm curious if there are certain areas we can skip or ones that we must go. Looking for a non-touristy type of vibe and wants to know everyone's thoughts or suggestions. We are thinking of the following:
Sawyer (for Warren Dunes State Park)
Benton Harbor/St. Joseph (beach)
South Haven (for the lighthouse and beaches)
Douglas/Saugatuck (beach and overall vibe)

My friend and I are looking to spend about a month in a town on Lake Michigan to work remote and experience the local life.
Which towns would you recommend for two single ladies in their early thirties who like good food, local events, live music, nice beaches, and is great for dogs?
Is this thing on? Anyone alive out there?
Hi! My family is anticipating a move to MI in the next few years as there are some better opportunities for our daughter with special needs. We really love the St. Joseph area and know the schools have a good reputation. That doesn’t always equate to good special needs programming and I was wondering if anyone has info about special needs programs in the area. My search for information led me to the Blossomland Educational center, which sounds interesting. I intend to reach out to them directly but wondering if there is anything else I should know? Thanks in advance!
