Today (Tues. March 1st) is election day for the Texas Primary Election. GO VOTE!!
You will choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary when you get to the polling place. This primary election's main purpose is to choose the candidates for the November midterm election.
To vote you need to find a voting location near you (see link below), be registered to vote (if you were before you probably still are but check here: https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do), and bring a photo ID or one of the alternatives (government document showing your name and an address, such as your voter registration certificate, current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, birth certificate).

Heard they had one, how does one go about applying? And just any comments about it, is appreciated!
Hi folks, I am a Canadian who got accepted into a Master's program for the Spring. I am wondering if anyone here is also an international student that might be able to help me with some questions and tips.
I have tried asking the university but it seems there is a big shuffle at the moment and people are slow to respond and I am hoping I can get some help here.
My questions revolve around off-campus housing, bill payments, bank accounts, etc. Is there anyone willing to PM me to help me get answers to my questions?
I'm a lesbian considering St. Mary's for law school, and I was wondering about the attitude towards LGBTQ students was like on campus. I'm not looking for support groups or anything, but would I risk losing financial aid if someone knew I had a girlfriend? What if I got married to another woman (aside from financial aid I might lose due to being married normally)? Like, I don't mind being told I'm going to hell or having Leviticus thrown at me, I just don't want to fear some kind of conduct board or something.
maybe something for a possible incoming freshman?
Was gonna see if I can do a request to be a mod but i see high potential for this sub.
Hi! Can anyone tell me how long it takes StMU to process and give a decision on an undergraduate transfer application? I have to decide for fall 2020 soon and they’re my first choice. Anyone?
Hello,
I've recently been accepted to St. Mary's University Clinical Mental Health Counseling program and super excited about it. But, I'm wondering what aid would be like so I can calculate how much I'd be paying myself or needing student loans (so I'm not thrown in a loop). I don't plan on getting too much in student loans, perhaps 4,000 per semester if needed, so I could pay them off as I work (building credit without getting screwed over). I know it tends to be a case by case basis, but I'd like some basics. As in, do they usually allow master's to be teaching assistants? Research assistants? How would I apply, or does that come with the FASFA? Are there scholarships?
And, in general, what are classes like? Any advice you feel like sharing?
Thanks for reading, and replying if ya do.
It seems like this sub is dead, but I’m so excited that I wanted to post anyway! I was accepted into the English Language and Literature graduate program for Fall 2020. I’m so insanely nervous, excited, and happy!
If anyone is around and would like to offer some advice, please feel free.
Greetings!
I am a doctoral student in counseling psychology at the University of Miami. As part of my dissertation research, I am conducting a survey of impostor feelings and experiences among Hispanic or Latin American students. I would greatly appreciate if you could participate and/or forward this study to potential participants. Participation in the study is expected to take approximately 15 minutes.
Participants must self-identify as Hispanic, Latino/a/x, or having an ethnic background from Spanish or Portuguese speaking areas of Latin America. Participants must also be currently enrolled in a college or university program, read English proficiently, have spent their formative years in the US, and be over the age of 18.
To qualify for participation in the study, please click here: https://umiami.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ewIGPAU0tzdAhtb
Participation is confidential and voluntary, meaning participants may withdraw from the study at any time. If you have any questions, you can contact me at n.rios1@umiami.edu.
The proposed study does not pose any anticipated risk and is approved by the University of Miami Institutional Review Board. The university’s Human Subjects Research Office can be contacted at hsro@miami.edu.
Thank you in advance for your time!
Hi, I'm currently an incoming freshman to StMU, and I randomly got an invite to this 'Honor Society' and was wondering if it's legit. Here's a link to a picture of the email they sent me.
Before anyone jumps at my throat saying these two should not compare, please finish reading my post because I genuinely cannot decide. I'm a first generation Hispanic and always visualized myself going to St. Mary's Law, mostly for their emphasis on diversity, strong Hispanic presence, and the fact that I knew I could get in. I applied to U of H knowing my LSAT was way below their average and got offered a spot on the waitlist. I was surprised, still not thinking I'd ever get off. They recently offered me a spot in the 2022 class. Now I have to choose between the two and really don't know how to narrow it down. I was hoping I could get some input. Note: St. Mary's offered me a scholarship of $7,000 for my freshman year, which isn't significant considering it is a private school. Nonetheless, I did not get offered anything by U of H (not surprising). The idea of going to Houston scares me because the cost of living is higher and I have never been. I'm slightly more familiar with the SA area and know of several people that have graduated from the program. I don't want to enter law school with the assumption I'll go into a certain type of law, however, I am interested in immigration, public policy, and criminal defense. I know U of H is big on corporate/business law, which I have never really thought as a good fit, but who knows. These deposits are coming up soon and I need to narrow this down. I'm visiting St. Mary's this weekend and U of H the next.

This is your adventure and it’s not to be missed.
I am waiting, patiently (I wish that was true) haha to receive an acceptance letter from St. Mary's University School of Law. I live in southeast Texas now, about 40 minutes north of Beaumont, TX. I have gotten an acceptance letter from another school, but St. Mary's is where I am positive I want to go! Just seeing if anyone else here is planning to start as 1L in August 2019 and might want to chat before! I am going nuts waiting!
I graduated with my BS in 2014, I have worked as a Municipal Court Clerk since. I am nervous about the transition from working full time to going back to being a student. I enjoyed studying for LSAT, but I worked full time doing it, and tried to have some normal life. This is going to be a huge change for me. (As I am aware it should be for everyone)
Sub is dead, just want to see if anyone is here, and whatnot. And to say hello!
EDIT: I'm a junior in undergrad! I guess post your year or whatever. Or not. This is the internet I'm not your mother.
I am Looking for the forth person who wants to live in the fourth dorm with me for next semester. Girl, please.
I've heard some fantastic things about St. Mary's law program, and then also some really negative things. Law school just isn't right for some people, though, so I don't know if the negative things I've heard would really be applicable on a larger scale.
For instance, I tend to take posts like this with a grain of salt, and attribute them to trolls, but figured I'd acknowledge it here:
Really Insulting Blog Post about STMU Law
So if anyone can weigh in and tell me what you love(d) or hate(d) at the school, or if alumni can speak to their hirability and preparedness post-graduation, I'd really appreciate it!
I am looking for someone to take over my room lease starting from August 2017 to July 2018 at High View Place Apartments. The apartment is a student living complex but you do not have to be a student to have a lease. The apartment is a four bedroom space equipped with a full kitchen, living room, patio, and a washer and dryer. Also, each bedroom is connected to a personal bathroom. The surface parking is free but there is covered parking available, fees apply. The base rent would be $530 if you take over lease. The complex is one mile away from the main campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and is three miles away from Six Flags Fiesta Texas. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.
Is this sub active at all? I just started at the law school today and I haven't met many people outside my section.
Hi /StMU ! I'm considering applying for this, so I'm intersted in hearing feedback from folks in the first cohort of the Cybersecurity Masters program at St. Mary's. What's your experience like? Thinks you like/hate? Did you consider UTSA, and why did you choose St. Mary's? Any feedback would be appreciated.
