r/StLouisBlues is back. Now what?

With the moderators of our old sub reopening I wanted to give an update on this subreddit.

r/StLouisBlues is where our community belongs.

.

What is going to happen to this sub?

I will be redirecting traffic back to our main sub through this post. I will also be redirecting traffic from r/BluesHockey to the main sub. The intention was always to revert back there, however possible. r/StLouisBlues is where our community belongs.

A thanks

Not having a subreddit sucked. I appreciate everyone participating in this temporary subreddit and keeping a small community active. I want to single out u/STLBooze3 who did their thing in always keeping the community up to date on news. Everyone was very generous with their suggestions and understanding during that time. A special thanks also to anyone who PMed me expressing interest in moderating. We thankfully never got big enough to need more mods but your willing spirit was appreciated.

I hope to be able to speak with you all in the new sub during GDTs and discussing whatever draft decisions we make in the coming weeks.

Thanks again everyone. See you soon and LGB

Let’s talk prospects

In some recent posts on other subreddits they’re talking about what upcoming prospects you’re looking forward to. So I figured we could do some of our own discussions on ours. Who’s someone you’re personally looking forward to and why?

Sounds like Logan Brown, an RFA, won’t be returning to Blues this summer and will become a UFA on July 1.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson

As per Elliote Friedman, Vancouver is buying out OEL's contract. Does anyone think Army should take a swing on the former Coyotes captian?

To be honest, I don't know what's been going on with this guy the last few years, but I remember the 31 year-old was highly regarded during his first few years in the league.

Looks like there's word going around that The Blues are looking to see if one of Faulk, Leddy, or Krug can be dealt sometime around the draft. If that happens, there's definitely a void left on the team, and I'm not sure if someone like Tucker or someone else in Springfield is ready to take a permanent spot just yet.

Maybe a 2x2mil contract or something around that price range would be a good start. Thoughts?

Off-season

Sorry I’m advance if the formatting is weird I’m on mobile. But is anyone else a tad bit skeptical that there isn’t even slight rumors involving the Blues? Typically being a team that is poised to have a busy offseason there would be something popping up even if it’s a false rumor. Or is this going to be a situation where the draft needs to come first?

The main sub is still closed. What now?

I had hoped the main subreddit would be back by now. After the 48 hour protest, the original main subreddit for the Blues remains closed. This was a community of 50,000 people shuttered by the sole decision of ~4 moderators with little input from the main subreddit.

So what now?

I still hope the main subreddit comes back and I will immediately link back to it if it comes back soon. However, because the old moderators have so far refused to reopen the community:

I'll try to grow the community here. I am going to start adding subreddit rules and editing the page. I will also be looking in to auto mod settings. But this will be a team effort to make a new home for Blues fans.

Again, so now what?

How can you help grow this community?

Spread the word that this is the new home for St. Louis Blues fans on Reddit. Post it on r/hockey, r/NHL, other team subs you frequent, and whichever subs you visit with Blues fans. Pass it along to your friends. Send out Reddit invites to your Blues fans friends.

How will this community be moderated?

It will be as close to the old sub as possible. The old moderators were excellent and they had a good thing going. I will try to moderate as close to how they did. Because of the current size of the sub, joke/meme posts in line with the rules will be allowed.

When will the old subreddit's community features be made available?

Features such as flairs and auto posted GDTs are currently not within my wheelhouse. I hope to be able to make these available through my own learning and the contributions of experienced moderators. EDIT: Some basic flairs are here. Let me know some ideas for new ones and they will be added.

Do you have moderator experience?

Yes, I currently moderate a subreddit of ~50,000 subs and prior to that moderated a sub of ~40,000 subs that is now defunct.

Will you attempt to take over the old subreddit?

Yes but only if the moderators continue to hold our old home hostage. In the coming days Ill send them PMs asking what their plans are and asking if they will come back. If there's no progress to be made, I will request to take the old sub back with a new team of moderators. In addition, I’ll be requesting take overs of other Blues adjacent empty/unmodded subreddits to link to this sub. This may fail, so keeping this community active is still important.

Do you need more moderators?

The answer is YES. Anyone with interest and experience is encouraged to send me a PM. Experience with subreddit formatting is a plus. Even if you aren’t the perfect right now doesn’t mean we can’t use you in the future.

Please get in touch with me with any ideas or suggestions. This will be a community driven effort.

Been thinking about this, it’s a slam dunk for me now: Alex Pietrangelo should be a lock for Hall of Fame. Two-time Cup champion. 2009 World Junior gold. 2014 Olympic gold. 2016 gold at World Cup of Hockey. 1,000+ NHL games next season. Should reach 800+ points.

Defense

What does your ideal D-corps look like at the start of next season?

Here's mine:

Soucy Faulk

Graves/Lindgren Parayko

Rosen/Perunovich Luke Schenn (on a reasonable deal)

Bortuzzo

Easier said than done but if we can somehow dump Krug and Leddy and get better on that left side we will be much improved imo. What do you all think?

A subreddit for Blues discussion if needed.

I sincerely hope there’s a resolution reached after the original 48 hour protest from the large subs that will allow the mods to reopen our old subreddit. If they can that’s great and this new sub will shut down and link to the original subreddit.

If our old sub stays closed forever then it’s only fair to those who do not want to take part in the protest to have a place to discuss the team.

In the meantime: all rules from the original subreddit will be enforced here.

The rules and sidebar will be fleshed out if this becomes the community’s new home. Personally, one change Id like to make is an allowance for more “meme” and joke posts. I am open to what the community wants.

If anyone has interest in moderating please PM me.

*Edited for clarification.
