I'm a newbie here. I'm in the process of reading Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Are there people who have finished it? How much time did it take? What did you feel after reading? Curious to know...

I've tried searching and reading through various articles but couldn't find the oldest text that describes the five Ks. For example, wikipedia states that:

Guru Gobind Singh commanded Khalsa Sikhs to wear at all times in 1699.

But gives no citation. What's the trustworthy source or scripture that tells you about this event?

Is Sikhism considered as a Heterodox school of Indian philosophy?

The orthodox school believed in Vedas - they have 6 subs schools.

The Heterodox school questioned the Vedas - they have 3 sub schools. Viz - Buddhism, Jainism & Lokayata philosophy.

I couldn't find any information on Sikhism.

Hindu and Buddhist text speak at length about it. There are many western self help gurus who promote it for its therepeautic benefits and such.

Whats Sikhism take on the topic, is it mentioned in some text or has any Sikh Guru talked about it?

I believe everything in sikhi but the head connection to god kindve weirds me out. Could someone explain it? Is it necessary?
