Elohim essaim elohim essaim warewa motome uttaetari

Hey peeps, I started re researching the meaning of this phrase and it may as well have been a reference to Akuma but, I translated it to God of crowd, God of cowd, I implore you.

Basically, elohim means god in hebrew and essaim means crowd and rest everyone knows. I could have just biased myself after finding the answer I wanted but, this mystery is over for me now.

A Second Lie in April - Review

I just finished reading a known fanfic for YLIA as titled above. I personally enjoyed this read and it definitely filled the gaping YLIA hole for me. However like most things, it isnt perfect and specifically for YLIA its not the best thing in the world but it certainly is a plausible ending to the story and gives fans some hope

Here are some things i did/didn't like and would change

Things i liked:

  • Not doing the typical fanfic thing of reviving the character, instead an alternate ending

  • Kaori Lives!!

  • Kousei's inner monologues in the story further confirms that he did love Kaori

  • Takeshi x Tsubaki is an odd pair but a welcome one

Things I didnt like (and why)

  • The mafia story (honestly could skip all the chapters that talk about this, it was really corny and at times was forced. Kaori's parents could have just hidden or something like that)

  • Emi x Watari not being explored (its an interesting pairing, could have used some exploring)

  • Watari x Tsubaki not being a thing

Again these are my personal thought, well done to the author for trying to do what most of us ask for, a YLIA sequel.

This show did something to me...

I remember not shedding a single tear until the very end.... But when the outro roll, I started to hyperventilate and my limb went numb...I instantly went to the shower and started crying. The show brought back all the music that was pent up inside of me... I have been crazy about music, since my childood I was surrounded by it... Old rock songs like the Beatles from my dad's room... One direction from my sister's, old euro-pop from my granddad's room and slow ghazals from the kitchen accompanied by the smell of fried rice with cottage cheese... I wanted to learn all sorts of instruments,my dad taught me to play piano on those lil Synth keyboards... And but when I got older, I picked up guitar and was taught by my uncle (a musician).. he also taught me how to sing.

But suddenly I was 15... And the responsibilities caught up with me... And my motivation went away... I still listened to music all the time but I wanted to create...I got into music production as well but found out it was very easy to loose inspiration and eventually put that on hold too... But getting out of the shower that day I felt something change.... I picked up my guitar, wiped the rust from the strings and played till my fingers bled... I also hopped on FL and started the rawest beat I'd made, ever and that very night... I played my favourite songs and sang my heart out... And the next day, as called my uncle and asked him to sign me up for the trinity Rock school examinations for the guitar, piano and vocals... And now I'm preparing to give them this fall.......

Why did Kosei never confess?

I just finished the show, and I enjoyed it alot, but the one thing that doesn't sit right with me was that Kosei never confessed his love. I know that he made some pretty heavy implications, but still, there was never an outright confession of him to Kaori. And I'm just wondering like, why not? Is there a good reason for this thematically or something?

About Kaori, Kousei And Tsubaki

I would first like to say- I am okay with Kousei ending up with anyone other than Tsubaki after Kaori died. Why? I'll explain later.

Let's start with talking about Kousei and Kaori's relationship.

After his mother died, Kousei's world became monochrome. He was depressed and had PTSD. He was living a life as if he was half dead. Despite knowing him since childhood, neither Tsubaki nor Watari were able to help him.

The first time he saw Kaori, he already found her sparkling as she played whatever that instrument is called. It could be seen that despite Kaori's forceful nature, it was eventually helpful for Kousei.

Moreover, Kaori had a way with her words sometimes as Kousei mentioned. Kaori's free spirited violin performance enchanted him. Then at the 2nd round where she stopped playing because he stopped and then she started again, full of confidence and charm, mesmerized him. Especially the moment when the two were able to play in sync. Later, Kaori kinda forced him to join a piano competition. It may look forced, but we can see how obsessed Kousei becomes with the piano. And kinda depressed too when he wasn't improving. Kaori was there for him and always motivated him in different ways whether it be in a criticising tone or "saying that she believed him" kind of tone. While he still failed at the beginning, he was eventually able to continue to play thinking that he's playing only for Kaori.

To Kousei, Kaori is his first love, his soul mate, his other half, the person who helped him out of depression and PTSD and also the person he's playing the piano for.

Similarly, to Kaori, Kousei was also her first love, her motivation, her idol and the person who made her fall in love with classical music. Partly due to her limited time and partly due to Kousei, Kaori was able to become the charismatic violinist she is by letting go off her worries.

Now going to Tsubaki.

  1. Tsubaki and Kousei have known each other for years. And while Tsubaki probably wanted to help Kousei to get out of his depression, in the end she didn't do anything to help him play the piano. Well, it couldn't be helped since she's not a musician.

  2. Kousei himself said he thought of Tsubaki as an older sister to look after at the beginning. He only saw her as family and a close friend.

  3. Despite knowing Kousei for so long, Tsubaki was never able to make his world sparkle.

  4. Tsubaki started to help Kaori when she wanted Kousei to be her accompanist. However, when Kousei started to love piano again and starting to be healed from his trauma, Tsubaki didn't like it because he was going to another world than her. And that he and Kaori were in another world, talking about things she didn't understand. At such a time, she should have been happy for him instead. And support him like Kaori did.

  5. When Tsubaki heard Kousei was going to a musician high school for his dreams, she became upset, cried and said I hate you to him and ran away just because he was going to a different school. This made Kousei rethink his decisions, literally manipulating him in a way with her tears, words and actions, and I still don't know if Kousei went to the music school or not. If he doesn't, then Tsubaki is literally going to be so toxic.

  6. Tsubaki kept belittling him and making him lose his confidence by calling him Friend A and then saying that he's never gonna end up with Kaori and that he's not worth it.

  7. This is my personal opinion now but at the end when she says she's always going to be with him as a guardian angel and he can't get rid of her (she said it in the anime iirc), I kinda found her obsessive. Like being there for him to support him as a friend is okay but the way she says it in the anime is like she's pushing her feelings onto him even though he doesn't like her. Also when she says that Kaori loves Watari while he has no choice but love her. That was disgusting. Like what? Whether of not Kaori loves Kousei aside, the way she says he has no choice but to love her is toxic as hell.

  8. Also the fact she gets hella jealous whenever she sees Kaori and Kousei together, even if they are just normally talking and smiling at each other, is really toxic. The fact that she got jealous to the point she lost herself at the game and caused her team to lose. I felt bad for the teammates as they could've won if Tsubaki was able to keep her cool and not be jealous over a freaking conversation. If she kept up this mentality while dating Kousei (IF she dated Kousei) then won't she be jealous everytime Kousei interacts with a female pianist or musician or such. If that isn't toxic then what it is. Like she even became jealous over Nagi, a middle schooler.

Tsubaki found it better that Kousei stayed the depressed self he was and that he stayed beside her always than play the piano and be with Kaori. Kaori wanted Kousei to play the piano again, and be happy again, even if it meant Kousei ended up with Tsubaki.

Tsubaki is too obsessive. It might be that she loves Kousei too much but since it's impossible for Kousei to love her as intensely as she loves him or even as intensely as he loves Kaori, Tsubaki's obsession will not end up well. Especially since, Kousei promised to never forget Kaori. As time passes, Kaori will be romantised in his memories and it would be near impossible to surpass her in Kousei's heart. It will either end up with Tsubaki hurt or Tsubaki becoming overly controlling. It would just ruin the relationship between the two. Hence, I think Tsubaki is the last person Kousei should end up with.

What does everyone else think? Just because Tsubaki loves Kousei doesn't mean he has to end up with her and return her feelings.
