RULES:
1) No business advertising. This will be judged at the discretion of the moderator team. Ads for your band's gigs, charity or student events etc. are fine, but don't go posting about that shitty club paying you minimum wage to Rep for them, or some dodgy online money-making scheme.
2) No Political Posts: People have different opinions, but University can often feel like an echo chamber. Don't use this subreddit to push your political agenda. This includes endorsement of a party or candidate, or posts about any political rallies taking place in Sheffield. We do, however, allow posts about the STUDENT elections, providing they are not deemed to give any particular candidate an unfair advantage.
3) No illegal discussions: We've all smoked a blunt or two at Uni, but this is not the place to set up deals or plan hotboxing sessions.
Have fun!

For people who have rented at the Forge/Trigon, did they require a guarantor? My second question is, given that the website of wearehomeforstudents offers 400£ cashback for the Forge, did anyone try to rent through them? Is it better or worse than renting through the accommodation team at SHU?
Hi everyone,
I’m a trainee clinical psychologist researching how worrying about affording food impacts eating habits and eating behaviour, especially during the cost-of-living crisis.
If you are 18 or older and living in the UK, I would love to hear from you! You do not have to be a student to take part as the research is open to everyone. However, I want to make sure that the experience of students is also represented, as university can be a time where finances are very stretched, especially at the moment.
There are two ways to take part:
Anyone over 18 living in the UK can take part and share their thoughts here.
You can find out more information by emailing me here.
You can take part in either or both :)
Your input could help shed light on this important issue, and by participating, you could also win one of four vouchers (2 x £30 and 2 x £20)!
If you’re interested, follow this link to the survey here. Or, feel free to DM me or email me here for more info.
If you do decide to take part, you will be given an information sheet with details about how data will be stored, retained and published, how to withdraw your data and information about consent.
Thank you so much for your support!
Gabi
Hey everyone! I am really looking forward to moving to Sheffield soon! I am doing a 2ys MSc program at SHU starting in Jan 2025. l have been looking into accommodation and I am really confused and kinda concerned. I was first considering The Forge as an option as its close to both campuses and its cheap but I have been hearing some negative comments regarding hygiene and sanitation from tenants. The other option I was considering was LIV Sheffield but it seems too expensive. Anything more 120f pw is truly out of budget. Could you please suggest some international student friendly, cheap, safe and clean accommodation options which is close to both collegiate and city campus? I don't mind private or uni accommodations! Thank you guys <3
Hey - I’m 21 years old, live around the Sheffield area and looking to date.
I have dated before in the past, but broken up sadly. I haven’t had a relationship in ages and have only met people on a one-off. But I really like to date and see where things go in life! Love is amazing.
I’m straight (looking for a girlfriend) and am interested in getting to know people, hoping one day I can meet someone in person and (hopefully) begin a new chapter!
Please feel free to dm if you are interested. Thank you ❤️

Hello everyone, if any of you is actively going to any SHU events or participating, I'd like you to message the mods via Modmail. We're looking to gather photos or recruit a new mod that can share photos and highlights of whatever events they attend so that future students or those who couldn't attend can see what SHU has to offer.
The accommodation online portal is kinda vague about this sort of thing - I used to live in Uni of Halls in Endcliffe and they didn’t care if you had a lover to stay but Capital seem to be more “on it” regarding overnight stays
Hello everyone,
I’m an international student currently looking at the different student halls. I was leaning towards the forge, as it is midway between both campuses and my classes will be on the Collegiate campus. However, I have been seeing some not so good reviews recently on google for it, while others say that it should be better as it’s now run by a different administration who is more reliable. Based on your experience (if any), what are the best options?
Urgent tenancy takeover September 2024-July 2025 I am looking for someone to takeover my tenancy at the forge Sheffield as due to personal circumstances I have decided to withdraw. A popular place to stay for students due to it being a short walk to both campuses and the train station. The price is 99 pounds a week-classic ensuite-the tenancy begins on the 14/9/2024 and ends on the 19/7/2025. The room is on the second floor in a mixed gender flat of 2 girls and 2 boys. You will have access to an onsite gym, a social room, free wifi, laundry facilities and an Aldi supermarket on your doorstep. These flats are in high demand so please be in touch with any questions or to confirm your interest so I can point you in the right direction
Hello!
I got accepted into a masters program in physiotherapy at SHU. However, I needed to do an IELTS exam as my first language is not English. I just got my score and it satisfies their requirements! I was wondering how long it takes to receive the official acceptance from that point, as I want to start planning things (give job notice, buy my ticket, apply for accommodation) If anyone has any experience it would be highly appreciated!
Any tips for MSc. Pharmacy & biotech this sept for a year regarding assessments, exams and job opportunities . Any thing from Aluminis.
Hello, could somebody suggest what can I do? I seem to be in a pickle.
Recently I got accepted into a Degree Apprenticeship opportunity in Quantity Surveying by an employer with additional benefit that I would be studying at Sheffield Hallam University one day a week.
However I received my contract and instructions on what to do next 3 days ago, and I've applied to Sheffield Hallam clearing only yesterday as I've emailed Sheffield Hallam about 6 times asking some question about the application form, and now I have received an email that they are no longer accepting any applicants (including me) for September. Which is quite a shame especially that clearing deadline dates were nowhere to be found.
Is there anything I or my employer can do or have I just shot myself in the foot leaving it a couple days late?
Hey, does anyone know how the Big Data Analytics course is at sheffield hallam? Anyone from any related course?
Hi since this subreddit is dead with 5 year old posts I think it would be better to start with a fresh new post for this upcoming year. I went through clearing and picked sheffield hallam to do politics and international relations with a foundation year. Why did you pick Sheffield Hallam?
Hi everyone, since all of you know this sub reddit has been abandoned for almost 4 years now. I feel like it’s time we change this and make it an alive place for people from Sheffield Hallam to connect and to guide the freshers that look forward to Hallam experience.
I’m currently taking applications for moderators for this sub. The only basic requirement is that you must’ve studied from Sheffield Hallam or you are currently enrolled in the university. Other than that, please introduce yourself and tell me why you want to be added as a mod, and what would you do to make this sub better? Please send a message to modmail to apply for being a moderator. Thanks.
Meanwhile, I’ll be working on making the sub better and give it a little redesign.
Sorry if this isn't really Reddit's area of expertise but I made Hallam's Animation course one of my UCAS options. I decided to apply during a gap year so I already have my A-Level results and I've received two unconditional offers from other universities but I'm still waiting for Hallam to do something. I submitted my portfolio slightly past the allocated deadline so I'm wondering if that was a problem, though when I contacted the course tutor he said the animation team have already reviewed it so I can expect a decision soon.
I'm still waiting however and I was just wondering if this is a common occurrence. I especially had my eyes on Hallam because the animation department is really good.
Does anyone have any idea how we can access runescape on Hallams network? It’s essential for my progress as a student
Are the players in the 1st team usually ex-academy players, or are they just regular Sunday league guys? thanks
am I going to lose my virginity throughout freshers week? 🤔
Flat b38
I’m going to start this September and I’m sorting my accommodation now, any recommendations
I'm coming next month as a first year student and I were wondering what's Hallam freshers like? Anything important I would need to know? I think I need to bring some documents for enrollment if I'm correct?
Hey!
For an upcoming uni project i am creating a music magazine for women.
I would really love to hear some opinions about it from its target audience, so if you are a female who's into music please would you be able to fill out this survey?
Takes about 10 mins.
Would really appreciate it!
My student house has been burgled 2 times this academic year and I want to move into halls if I can. Anyone know if there are many rooms available (from people dropping out and such) mid term?
I’m a 19 F student at Sheff Hallam but I’m quite a reserved and quiet person. I don’t like clubbing, which I know is the primary way to meet people but, ehhh. Not my scene!
I like games, anime - I don’t know! D: it seems hard to meet people and I’m not sure how else to about it except force myself to go on a night out
