Welcome to /r/SailorMoon, Reddit's unoffical Sailor Moon Subreddit! Please feel free to post Sailor Moon relevant articles, news, fan art- or anything else related to the Sailor Senshi.
Please be sure to read the rules!
/r/sailormoon has a few rules we'd like you to follow while posting and participating here. Please hover over the rules below for more information.
#1.) Respect One Another | This is super simple stuff. If you have critique on someone's fanworks- be productive about it. Don't name call. Most certainly don't use racial slurs, sexist slurs or put anyone down or harass anyone. Remember, treat others as you want to be treated. 'But he did it first' is not an appropriate defense. |
#2.) No Hentai/Pornography | Reddit has a policy against underage characters, or characters that could be considered underage, in sexual or suggestive situations that can be read here: (https://www.reddithelp.com/en/categories/rules-reporting/account-and-community-restrictions/do-not-post-sexual-or-suggestive). Since the majority of the characters in Sailor Moon could be considered as such-- the main 'heroic' cast for example-- anything that could be perceived as hentai or pornography or contains nudity is banned, as is anything that could be perceived as 'suggestive'-- 'Come hither' poses, Pictures where gratuitous exposed chest/cleavage feature or are the focus of the picture for a couple small examples. This extends to both visual and written works. |
#3.) No Pirating/Torrents/Illegal Links | Don't post or ask about direct links to/or mention torrents/unofficial download or streaming websites. Do not post direct links to subs or dubs. Don't post direct links to MP3s. Don't post direct links to manga scans. |
#4.) Referral Links / Advertising / Selling | Referral links are not allowed, period. Advertising for Products or Services are not allowed. This includes websites such as Etsy, Redbubble, Kickstarters and similar websites where the goal is to sell your product or sell your service. If you wish to advertise that on Reddit, or target this subreddit, you will need to go through https://ads.reddit.com. Advertisement for personal projects you just want traffic to- such as linking to your DeviantArt, A Discord You Run, a Forum you want to invite people to or show off a piece of art or writing you did, are all allowed. |
#5.) No Spam. What's Considered Spam? | Spam on /r/sailormoon is defined as any link not relevant to Sailor Moon, or very low effort posts in general. Anything else reported as 'spam' will be handled on a case by case basis as decided by the moderators and will be removed if deemed as spam. It is /generally/ of the moderator's opinion that if something is Sailor Moon related- then upvoting and downvoting by the community should determine whether it remains up top or not- which includes fan art, memes and captioned pictures.*** |
#6.) Bootlegs. | Bootlegs are allowed to be posted, as long as it's made clear that they are bootlegs and not being passed off as official merchandise. If you think it's bootleg- but are not sure, then express that in the title of the post. You should not, however, link to or mention where the bootlegs can be purchased. |
#7.) Posting Fan Art | Boils down to: Post the artist's name in title. If not known, please say so in the title. Original Artist has post priority. Do not break the first rule. Please see: https://www.reddit.com/r/sailormoon/wiki/index for the full rule. |
Please note that it goes without saying that any attempt to bypass filters, rules- or suggestions or urging on of doing so to others, will get you an automatic ban.
If your post doesn't appear within a few minutes, it was probably caught in the spam filter. Please send a message to the mods so we can yank it out for you!

As many of you may know, Naoko Takeuchi is married to fellow mangaka Yoshihiro Togashi, most famous for his works Yu Yu Hakusho and Hunter x Hunter.
In recent years, Togashi has been suffering from bad health, and it seems increasingly unlikely that he will be able to finish his recent work (HxH) on his own. While he seems to reject outside help, there have been vague rumors that his wife Naoko might jump in to assist him.
Which gets me to the point: Do you think that's realistic in any way, like, at all? By my information, Naoko hasn't drawn a single page of manga in almost 20 years (artworks don't count). The last thing we've seen from Sailor Moon, to my knowledge, is the Parallel Moon chapter from 2004. Apart from that, there have only been some smaller, barely known attempts at series(?), with the last one ending in 2005, according to Wikipedia.
Do you think we will ever see another piece of manga by Naoko Takeuchi? Is there a known reason why she completely stopped drawing stories?
I am a lot like Usagi/Rei so I feel like I would most likely be friends with them! But to be honest I'd love them all as friends š
Hello, I wanted to know where I can buy the authentic DVDs for the live action. I was hoping to find all episodes plus the specials. English subtitles aren't needed, but I would appreciate it if they came with English subtitles. I looked on eBay, but I'm not sure if any of those are bootlegs or not. I was hoping I could get a picture of the DVD covers or if someone could just send me a link. Thank you. :)

Mars Venus Jupiter and good olā sailor moon.
Pretty Much The Title
I donāt have an illustration for this one, as visual art is not a talent I possess, but in 1997, I created a starlight that addressed some gripes I always had with the starlights, like the fact that their band doesnāt have a drummer and everyoneās power is an attack, which only makes sense for fighter. Even Healerās power is an attack! In any case, here is her profile.
Sailor Star Defender Civilian name: Kou Uchu (light from outer space) Position in the band as a civilian: Drummer Height: 5ā11ā Hair and eye color: brown (in essence, she was similar to me in appearance when I was younger, except female when she transformed) Transformation phrase: āDefender star power, make-up!ā Introduction phrase: āShining in the black void of space, Sailor Star Defender. Stage on!ā Senshi power: Star Protective Barrier Description: Sailor Star Defender holds two stars in her hands, which she tosses upward at the conclusion of calling out her attack name. The stars then spawn more stars, which spread out and form a dome shaped barrier over the Starlights. When an enemy attacks the barrier, it emits a shockwave, which punishes the attacker.
Sorry I donāt have a picture to go with the character, but thatās one I would love to use in the pen and paper RPG if I ever had anyone to start a campaign with. What do you think?
In the first few seasons, I thought it was the most coolest attack because it was an attack using an accessory instead of a magical attack. I am so annoyed till this day they mainly replaced Usagi's attack with basically only just purification, mainly existing in battles just to purify evil instead of fighting :(
I recently came across the NHK poll from a couple years ago for the first time, and it was really fun to see the results among the fans, especially when it came to character and episode popularity (SO interesting to see Sailor Uranus at #1, but also the top 10 rankings!).
I was especially fascinated by the episode rankings on fans' top episodes of the entire series (including the movies). For the purposes of discussion, excluding Crystal completely, what was your favorite episode form the original 90s series?
I personally love Episode 106 from Sailor Moon S, which is the story of how Michiru and Haruka met. Takeuchi Naoko doesn't give a proper backstory in the manga of how these two came to meet, and there's just so many interesting layers here (Elza Gray introducing the two, Michiru being the MOST expressive in the entire show ever in these flashbacks, how the two apparently did NOT hit it off when they first met, etc.!). I also don't ever remember a Sailor Moon episode being told in this format, with it featuring Haruka doing most of the VO narration for the entire episode. (And who can forget the memorable scene with them driving off into the sunset in the car?!)
A close runner up is Episode 110 also from S, which is the death of Uranus and Neptune (can you tell who my favorites are?). Iconic direction from the music to the hand scene (!). I watched this when it first aired on TV in Japan as a kid, and it was pretty... traumatizing (and still is, 30 years later). Such a turning point in the tone of the show. But also balanced out by some very funny Eudial shenanigans, who I think is one of the strongest developed villains in the show.
And of course, can't forget the Stars episode where EVERYONE ends up at Usagi's house (Haruka vs. Seiya!).
I love her design
