Coming to SF early next year, and like to explore the craftbeer scene, I know of a few breweries and pub/bars. But the best venue for Cask beer, I have no idea, need help.

What’s your favorite session IPA around here? I moved to the area recently from Ohio where my beer of choice was Fathead’s Sunshine Daydream (4.9% ABV). So far, the closest I’ve come to finding a beer like Sunshine is Firestone Walker’s XPA (5% ABV). Looking for something 4.7-5.0%, clean, bright, bitter, and not too watery.
Thoughts?
One of my favorite weekend activities is riding a few miles to a brewery. Favorite places to do that, starting in SF?
I’m aware of the SF Bike and Brew club but not sure which of their routes are all time faves.
Thanks!
Am attending 04/20's Cantillon event at Sante Adairius Oakland Arbor tmrw but my friend bailed Will be incredible if you like Belgian beers including gueze: 8 x 8oz pours / 4 hrs (11am-3pm) / only 100 attendees
Have 1 physical ticket (either at co$t or open to a barter) - hit me up - can't let this go to waste!
I live in W Oakland - prefer finding a taker today - thanks and cheers!
Do any brewers in SF or on the peninsula take PackTech can carriers? I've heard of some brewers offering a small discount, $1 pints, or tasters for them. I don't care about getting anything. I hate throwing them in the blue bin as I worry they're more likely to end up in a landfill than separated. On the PackTech site, they mention some places in East Bay but would like something closer to San Mateo.
Any idea where I can get Pliny for President to-go or is it sold out everywhere by now? I'm traveling to the south bay area (Santa Clara area) next week and hoping to bring some home if it's still available anywhere.
Hi all,
What San Francisco beer would you recommend to buy for a Super Bowl party? I live in the Chicago area, would like to bring a beer from SF.
Thank you!
Do you have to wait in line to get the beer? Can I come in mid-day on a weekday and expect to get bottles to go?
I will be visiting SF in April and want to visit. I don't mind standing in line, but for a weekday, is arriving at 5am really necessary?
I will be visiting SF in the middle of February, flying in from Sweden. I will stay for a couple of days and it will be mostly work, so looking to bring some nice US beer with me back home. I will be around the union square area.
Any good spots to buy bottles/cans? I have used Liquid Gold before and will pay them a visit again.
On a second note, I could bring with me some beers from here if anyone want to trade. Have searched for an sf beer trade forum, but unsuccessfully. If you could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
Thanks and cheers!
Edit: spelling
Anywhere have Pilsner Urquell on tap?
Hi. Friend from California will be flying from SF airport directly to Europe where I live. Was hoping she could bring me a Pliny or two (she owes a couple craft beers!) but alas, she isn’t checkin a bag, so no liquids. EXCEPT… after she passes security, she’ll be able to purchase alcohol from the duty-free shops. Anyone ever flown internationally from SF airport & checked out the duty-free shops? Do they have any kind of California craft beer selection?
Thanks!
Hi, I will be visiting in early December and am planning on popping over to Sante Adairius in Oakland. I am wondering if they sell anything to go? Bottles, cans etc.? Or is it just on site consumption?
Thanks very much!
Hi
I am heading to San Francisco in 2 weeks and looking to go to a few breweries and was wondering if there are a few in walking distance of each other thanks
Hi Friends,
Please delete if not allowed.
I am a current grad student working on a project based on a craft brewery located in the Bay Area. The brand is called Matchpoint Brewing. They are AAPI owned, and their flavors are inspired by Asian american cuisine.
The professor, my project partner, and I are having a bit of a disagreement in terms of what their messaging should be. The professor wants us to focus on Asian american representation. She seems to think that "People are dying for new craft beer flavors and diverse representation. Craving new culture and flavors". My partner and I don't think that's entirely accurate, but we also don't know how people feel about beer flavors or unusual flavors.
I wanted to get your opinions on this because we can't move forward with the project until we have an insight.
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!
Probably like most bay area beer lovers, I ran out and scooped up a bunch of Anchor Beer about 10 days ago upon hearing the untimely closing of Anchor.
I grabbed Crisp Pilsener, Steam, and also was able to get some four packs of Christmas Ale at Anchor Taps on the Thursday they announced they were closing. But anyway...
I noticed in the last 2 six packs of Steam Beer, when I was paying attention, there were several large black flakes floating in the head of the beer (in perfectly clean, rinsed glassware) and I took one picture with my iPhone, but it's just showing a small fleck the size of a ground pepper flake, but the one that caught my attention originally was much bigger.
Love the beer, praying that someone buys them and gets them brewing again, so I'm not throwing any shade on the brewery. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed strange flecks of black stuff in their Steam beer? I was tempted to cut open some cans, but they ended up getting tossed in the recycling.
I think we can all agree that it's pretty crazy an international conglomerate is about to shut down the oldest craft brewery in the US. After 126 years it feels like California and/or SF should be treating Anchor Brewing like the railway museum or any other historic part of the city and making sure it stays open. There's a petition to try to call on the state or some other funder to step in, and signing that might convince someone with enough money to help, but I'm curious if anyone else has ideas about what could possibly be done?

Flying in from PHX and land SFO 1230pm on Friday June 16. I am going to get the rental car while my buddy waits for the luggage. Figure we get to Toronado about 2pm. 45 minute drive to Wonderous Brewing gets us there about 345. Our hotel (checkin and drop luggage) is 10 minutes away from Wonderous, then Ghost Town about 515. Then head to A’s Phillies game.
Plan to heads to Almanac Beer first as they close 10pm (20 min drive from stadium) then SARA and Original Pattern (both close 11pm).I see us leaving the stadium by 830pm so we should have plenty of time to hit these places.
Is there anything we should skip or add? These stops all depend on our flight getting in on time at least the stops in the afternoon before the ballgame. We fly out 945am on Sat and figure a good hour to return the car and get thru security (both have TSA Precheck) at SFO so we will be up 6ish so do not want to be out too late.
EDIT-
Probably skipping Toronado as we will have golf clubs and luggage in the car. Will checkin to the hotel and park the car and Uber to Wondrous and Ghost Town before the game. After the game we will Uber to Original Pattern / SARA / and hopefully Cellarmaker. Skipping heading to Alameda. This is assuming that out flights do not get delayed due to "June Gloom:.
Great tap house in the South Bay with lots of taps plus bottles and cans. They have three locations with the second in Los Gatos and a third down in Fresno (or should I say FresYes?! No, no I shouldn’t). Anyone else been here?
The reel on our IG has music which makes it more watchable if you want: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsTqAKMJw1Y/?igshid=ZWIzMWE5ZmU3Zg==
Flying into SFO on Friday June 16 about noon for a 640pm Phillies A's game @ the Coliseum. Looking for a good area to stay that has some good nightlife (breweries/beer bars etc). We fly out the next morning at 945am.
Thanks
