Was just having a chat with an Applebees Keizer bartender and we have come to an agreement that Front St to downtown seems exponentially faster than Commercial to downtown, even though the latter has more lanes and is smoother. Both are basically the same distance.

So, straw poll, when coming from Keizerish, f/Stop, Shack area, is Front actually faster?

Edit: Commercial is 30 and Front is 35, but the trek is only 1.4 miles from Applebees to the skate park either way, so a 24 second difference is the max legal difference, easily eaten by a stop sign or red light.

Hello! I am trying to finish off my Christmas shopping and was wondering if there are any local stores/local artists/fairs near here that sell weird oddity type stuff. Things like taxidermy, bones, etc. I have a cousin who likes weird stuff and I want to get him something he will love. Thanks :)

Last year we picked up some fresh garland from TJ’s shortly after thanksgiving, and I’m wondering if they have it yet this year. Don’t want to make the drive all the way over there if they don’t have it.

Wondering if anyone knows of or recommends any grief related support groups in or around Salem. I found some held in churches, but would prefer a secular group. I just loss my mom, I’m in my 30s, and I’ve experienced grief before but this is so much harder. Sorry to be such a downer. I found some resources in Portland but would prefer something closer to home if I can find it. Anyway, if you have any thoughts or recommendations I’d appreciate them.

I'm a single [54M] that enjoys going dancing at live music events on the weekends in the greater Portland area. Seeking a lady that would be interested in going up on Friday and/or Saturday evenings. I typically hit the 80s/90s/00s cover bands. There are so many good event locations to go to like Headliners, Ponderosa, Dublin Pub, The Fixin' To, Coyotes, Clydes, Billy Blues, etc...

Not sure what happened to the Salem nightlife scene. Once upon a time it had several places to go dancing and now there's almost nothing. Trivia nights week after week are so booooooringgggg.

Just curious if they do a leaf clean up in the park especially with the trails at anytime during the winter after the leafs have fallen or do they wait until spring?

I'm (F) in my mid-40's, somewhat recently divorced, an extrovert, and I live in Silverton, but looking to spend more time in Salem. I'm looking to meet people face-to-face without making it a meetup or a date. Just me, going to a place with zero expectations from anyone. I just want to show up on my time and leave on my time.

I've read where people in their teens and early 30's go, I've read where introverts go, I've done Meetup plenty and this is not it, but what about those places where people who are in their 40's and beyond who are, you know, grown up, where do they go?

I can, and I have, had good times at Coin Jam, F/Stop, Southside Speakeasy, but I haven't been able to connect with many past that of "bar friends." Sometimes it's all the differences that come with age, like having kids or not or their ages, and other times I've found myself sidelines for extended periods over discussions about videogame or board games.

Where do you take your guitars for a pro setup, fret dressing or refretting? I'd prefer to support local, small businesses. What do you pay for a fret dress on an American Standard strat? A refretting? NW Oregon is my radius. (Portland to Salem). TIA
