Rules of this subreddit

Include the coaster or park in [brackets] in the title or [other] if it's about something else

Be Nice to Others - Follow Reddiquette, remember that we strive to be a close and friendly community. If you wouldn't say it to their face, don’t say it online. Avoid posting low quality comments like “this coaster sucks” with no other opinions or context. See something that doesn’t align with the rules? Please use the report button and a mod will address it as soon as possible.

Keep It Interesting (No Reposts) - Make sure your post is high quality and worth posting. We want to keep the sub-reddit fresh and interesting, instead of repeating topics that have already been covered.

Don't Post Too Frequently - Limit yourself to one post about a particular ride or park per week. We don’t need your daily updates of ride construction.

Photo Guidelines

  • Include the name of the coaster or park! Not everyone has all coasters memorized.
  • Don’t post photos of the same ride or park over and over
  • No low quality photos or videos. Everyone has a camera on their phone, but that doesn’t mean every single photo or video you take is worth posting.
  • Consider posting unique angles
  • No on-ride photos
  • No empty queue or parking lots

No Unofficial POVs - The majority of parks do not allow cameras on any ride non-transportation rides so this a zero-tolerance policy on the subreddit to make moderation easier.

No Advertising or Social Media Links - You may include a link at the end of a written trip report or in the weekly “General Discussion Thursday” thread.

No RCT, Planet Coaster, No Limits, Roblox, Minecraft, or Parkitect creations. Those should go in their designated subs. The only exception to this rule is a Planet Coaster or No Limits POV from a coaster that's under construction but hasn't been announced yet (therefore there is no official POV yet).

No Clickbait, Obvious Errors, or Unreliable Sources - Do not link to clickbait-style articles. Do not post incorrect names, pictures, or stats from Google Maps, Wikipedia, news articles, park merchandise, movies, tv shows, or commercials. Please include a source for all news.

No Memes - They aren't funny, sorry.

[DEFUNCT] HAPPY HALLOWEEN!🎃

Wanted to make a fitting tribute to honor the fallen. Here’s 32 defunct coasters from over the years and 13 possibly soon-to-be-dead. How many can you guys recognize?

Launch coasters [Other]

I've been a coaster enthusiast for a long time, so I'm fairly familiar with how different launch systems work. I'm not expert though of course, and I'm wondering why the only way to launch a train at high speed thus far has been a hydraulic system.

LIM/LSM systems seem to only be able to get to a certain speed and take a much longer time to get there. The hydraulic launch can reach much higher speeds at a quicker pace but the system it's self has been proven to be far too complex for everyday use and maintenance.

My ultimate question is if there's a better way to achieve high speed launches with a more reliable system. I drive a Tesla that can go from 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and only uses two small motors. Again, I'm not an engineer or anything but it seems like electric motors could achieve high speed launches with a much simpler design.

I feel like a lot of these 10 Year Plan posts turn into wish lists, so what is your *realistic* 10 Year Plan for your home park? [Other]

[American Eagle] rather than RMC classic icon rollercoasters that are really rough, why not titan track them.

You keep the same layout and yes I understand it’s not a “woodie” anymore but the structure and aura remains.

I guess I’m not a purist when it comes to these kinds of woodies. I’d rather see the structure and layout remain (and have it race again) then watch it be rough and lose riders ect.

[Hyperia] was closed for several hours today "due to the actions of a guest" meaning that my first ride was a back seat in the dark. Amazing.

I want to create a model coaster [Other]

So I want to create a coaster type ride small scale just using common household items. I was thinking marbles and paper towel rolls (the inside cardboard pieces whatever they're called). Any other ideas?

[Other] What do you wish was more common in amusement parks/on roller coasters?

Me personally, I wish more roller coasters had a rider cam to capture the reactions of the riders, I feel like that would be a more justifiable purchase than a photo on a monitor that you could easily sneak a quick picture of at the ride booth, as far as I know, Gotham City Escape at Parque Warner is the only ride to actually have this as an option

[Astroworld] 19 years ago

19 years ago Six Flags Astroworld (or Astroworld for short) would operate for the final time. We loss some of unique coasters such as Texas Cyclone, Ultra Twister, Viper, Greezed Lightnin’ and more. We also lost the world’s first River Rapids ride that day (Thunder River).
