Got a 1972 bike that I’m going out to get soon. And my uniform is Enroute. All I need now is some webbing. I’m doing a late 1942 soviet border enlisted messenger. This for fun and to get mess around in my home made dugout.
What are your go to places to find original pictures for your impressions? More specifically where could I look for specific units in specific places?
I am looking for coloured photographs or advice as to wher i may purchase such a uniform
Hi Folks, as part of my series 'How to make a Simple Viking Age Tunic or Dress', I have just released this latest video, with a PDF accompanying it. ( link in the description)
In this episode, I take you step-by-step through my method for making Pattern Diagrams for Viking Age Kirtles and Dresses. I will show you how a simple kirtle or dress is constructed, breaking them down into their component parts. Then, starting with a set of measurements, (and my example person, Loki) I will take you through how to accurately size each piece for a custom fit.
We will look at checking the fit of the garment over the hips if you need to before we start cutting, and learn how to create a handy neckline template for a simple, close fitting, comfortable neckline. Finally, we will look at how we can use our pattern diagram to check we have enough fabric for the garment, or, how to know how much to buy for a particular project!
There are timestamps separating each section of this beast of a tutorial, so you can come back and find just the bit you want easily! These are also given in each section of the PDF document that accompanies it. You can find that link in the description along with another link which just contains the Pattern Diagram Template and Notes for easy printing.
This one is a bit special. :) This series is the one I wanted to make when I first started the channel, and this step, learning how to take your measurements, and turn them into a garment that fits you well, is the heart of it. Over 5 years of trial and error, 2 years thinking about how to share it and refining details, a month of PDF editing, diagram designing, script writing, filming and editing, and here it is.
I really hope you find this helpful. It’s aimed at those just starting out, but I hope more experienced sewists can find something to take from it too. It assumes a small amount of knowledge that has already been covered in previous videos in the How to Make a Simple Viking Age Tunic or Dress series, and the Stitches and Seam Treatments playlist, but you don't have to have sewn a stitch in your life to be able to create your own Pattern Diagrams!
So, grab a cup of something tasty, come on over, and let’s get started. :)
Probably the least interesting of about an hour and a half of sparring and practicing with different weapons, but hey, I’m on video!
I am thinking 1st Canadian parachute battalion 1st infantry regiment (US) and anything Dutch and British is ok ww1 works too thanks have a good day.
I’m putting together an impression of the 27th infantry division, specifically 1-69IN, and I’m having trouble finding the best store for reproduction early American gear and clothing? Any suggestions?
Does it matter for an impression if you aren’t the right race for it? Like if a tall white guy wanted to do an Vietnamese impression for instance. Edit: I think I’ll go with an advisor impression instead as I think it’d be more historically accurate that way and I can still represent the ARVN, which is generally underrepresented in Vietnam impressions. Thank you for the input.
I was checking out the NJ Sekela webpage and noticed under their shipping terms and conditions that there are "No sales to any members of the Liberty Rifles." I'm not a member of the Liberty Rifles, but it seems weird have a beef with a whole unit codified in the terms and conditions. Anyone know where this comes from? Just another mainstream vs. campaigner fight?
I am trying to put together an American Air Raid Warden impression. However, I can barely find originals of this item, let alone reproductions
Hello, I’ve recently had a great interest in the medieval era of European history (specifically about the Cumans.) I was wondering if there are some vendors that cater to this, as well as some general medieval vendors. Thank you!
I'm still bad at morse code so I still need alot of practice.
The helmet is in pretty damn decent condition. Pretty much the only thing that needs real “replacing” is the leather lining, as the metal frame and chinstraps are, while still worn, not compromised in the slightest.

Hello fellow reenactors !
I'm a girl and have been doing reenactment for three years now. I started doing Roman but had to put it on pause when I moved. I moved in a place where they do lots of WW1 and joined a WW1 group (my group focuses on civilians' life in France and the hard work they put on).
However I have always loved the Middle Ages (I studied archaelogy and literature and specialized in medieval archaeology and medieval literature). It would be my dream to do medieval reenactment but I struggle to find a group that does it historically accurate. Does anyone here know of a medieval reenactement in France that does HISTORICALLY ACCURATE reenactment and not the fantasy stuff I often see ? It's really specific ahah but who knows...
I’ve been trying to put together as accurate of a WW2 palatine guard kit I can, basing it off this photo. Apparently the uniform was a grey coverall, but I’ve had a hard time finding the right kind. Same goes for the large red beret. Any tips on where to look?
I just got in a post-war Italian M33 helmet. I got a size 55 as it was rather affordable and after sizing my head determined it would fit well. However, in practice, the helmet is too tight. Is there any way to adjust it or switch out liners to get it to fit? Or will i just have to dig around online for a larger size? Thanks!
hey everyone I'm doing a little short film on reenacting and wondering, if some of you based in Europe, maybe Germany, Belgium would like to participate. Let me know and I can give more infos
