I have no idea how this didn’t make it to the subreddit but it’s our first official confirmation that Ikz was indeed cut. Of course it’s not a big surprise but it should put to rest any theories that she is still in the game. Video was 3 months old but never got posted here. https://youtu.be/KMiiSZZgEqw?si=SnteXFJSkdnwhtdk At around the 3 minute mark, he confirms he recorded dialogue but it was cut.
Well that confirms what we suspected for years. That she is indeed cut content.
I was playing story mode and I was in the forest near colter. I saw someone running in the trees and when I tried to follow him, he was gone.
Ive seen the guy once before on a different playthrough.
It definitely wasn’t the feral man. Is this just a glitch?
From a previous post, there was someone else who shared the same experience in the replies with two videos;
Seems like a glitch because of the second video, however the first video is taken in the exact same location I saw it in both my playthroughs. The guy seems abnormally fast as well.
A while back I posted here about the Reutlinger Watch and how you can make it “light up” for a period of time after family dinner at Beecher’s Hope each night.
Red Dead Reutlinger Watch Anomalous Behavior : r/reddeadmysteries
There are a lot of strange little things at Beecher's Hope having to do with chores and time (and the odd way things at the ranch load-in) and I have been focusing on those and how they might interact with the watch. I have been compiling them hoping to notice something amiss.
Now I have discovered a new piece to this Beecher’s Hope puzzle, and this one blew me away. In six years, I’ve never heard anyone mention anything like this. This is something that may affect puzzles across the map.
Beecher’s Hope runs on a different schedule than the rest of the game. Ever wonder why time and chores and stuff at the Marston Ranch go by so slowly? It’s because while you are at the ranch time slows down exponentially.
https://reddit.com/link/1h28hgo/video/p64dkud1ko3e1/player
As an example, in this video the watch starts at Beecher’s Hope at 4:00a.m. synched with watches from 4 other geographic areas. The watches in Annesburg, Rhodes, Mt. Shann and Armadillo remain constant and fixed to what I think of as RDR2’s ‘master clock’ but the watch at Beecher’s Hope does its own thing.
But why? Are there other temporal anomalies in other areas of the map? How is it useful?
I think that there is something big hidden at Beecher’s Hope after %100 completion. It has to do with time, chores and the Reutlinger watch.
Purely out of curiosity,
Last month I posted about the doll on the IKZ trunk in the Van Horn Fence and how sometimes it loads-in lying on the trunk and other times it is floating above it. There were lots of interesting comments, several of which talked about how Rockstar had confirmed that the IKZ storyline is cut content.
Princess IKZ Levitating Doll : r/reddeadmysteries
That got me started thinking – I have been following this game obsessively for a long time now, but I couldn’t remember when Rockstar ever actually confirmed anything.
For years I have heard that it had been ‘confirmed’ but I can’t find online when, or in what forum, Rockstar made the announcement. I find lots of 'dataminers confirm' after the PC version came out, but I can't find anything official.
I am not arguing whether its cut content or not, and I will be honest and say that there are other mysteries in the game that have fascinated me more and I only visit Van Horn and the Princess when I need a change in scenery, so I might have missed something.
Why do we all think it’s cut content?
Thank you! 😊
A month ago, I made a post saying that the Frozen Neanderthal is one of the most interesting mysteries in game as it may still exist. I think this is no longer the case and that the fate of it can easily be determined. While I have no concrete proof, the things we know may be enough.
To put it simply, the Frozen Neanderthal was supposed to be in one of the cut locations in Ambarino. He would have been found in the now undiscoverable locations outside the boundaries. Where this is cannot be determined but with the rumour there was a cut prologue chapter, he could have been found while the gang escaped Blackwater.
However, I think I found the likeliest location for him to be at. I think he would have been at the hidden inaccessible glacier in Ambarino. With the use of mods, you can see the hugely detailed interior of this glacier, hinting that this was somewhere you were meant to go at one point. This is also the perfect place for a frozen Neanderthal to be in, unlike the rest of Ambarino. Therefore, I am 95 percent sure this was his location.
The question remains then? Why is he fully intact in the files but not actually in game. Because his trigger point was cut when the mission involving the glacier was cut out. However Rockstar left all the assets in game. He was probably meant to be like the North Yankton Alien and only found in one mission. Since that mission got deleted, so did his spawn point. This is also most likely what happened to Ikz, her mission being deleted cut her without Rockstar having to manually delete her. It’s why they remain in game but can’t actually be found.
As much as I wish he could still be found, the real answer is boring. He was cut but not in a conventional way.
I believe the Strange Man represents a wandering soul, or better said, a soul in pain. I think he was an unfortunate victim of the Blackwater Massacre, possibly killed by John or in the crossfire, and has somehow transcended to the mortal plane to judge those responsible for his death.
Yes, yes, I know it sounds a bit strange (pun intended), but I really like this theory I've come up with. Next, I’ll point out some facts that might support it, along with some points that make it seem less believable. I'll start from Red Dead Redemption 2 to Red Dead Redemption 1
Good Points (RDR2)
- As we know, there’s no mention of the Strange Man before the events of RDR2 (obviously), but there is a note in Arthur’s journal about people seeing someone resembling Trelawny in Blackwater before the massacre. While this might refer to Trelawny himself, it could also be the Strange Man, who travelled to Blackwater for some reason, dressed in his elegant outfit (which does resemble Trelawny’s).
- We’re all familiar with the cabin in the woods, the painting, and all that. But I haven’t seen much discussion about the portrait that slowly progresses with each visit. I think this shows that, after his death, the Strange Man forgot his identity, remembering only what happened and who caused him pain. Lost between the other side and the material world, he begins to remember who he is or what he’s become as the painting takes shape (it’s possible he painted it himself as a path of self-discovery). When the painting is complete, he finally appears, as remembering his past enables him to manifest in the real world.
- In the cabin, there are various phrases written on the walls, but only four of them really support this theory. The phrase “The water is Black with Venom” clearly refers to the Blackwater Massacre, and "venom" could refer to blood—blood spilled from the ferry into the waters, perhaps even his own.
- “I gave everything for art and I learned too much and nothing at all” could mean he was in Blackwater as a painting enthusiast (the cabin is filled with art, including poems). By coming to Blackwater for art, he gave his life. After his death, he gained clairvoyance about the future but lost himself along the way—he “learned too much and nothing at all.”
- “His final toll will sound my greatest coming.” This could be referring to John (since he was more involved in the Blackwater incident than Arthur). When John dies (the "final toll"), it may finally free the Strange Man to rest, releasing him from the chains of such a violent and unexpected death.
- "I know you.” While this is an obvious reference to the RDR1 mission title, the Strange Man also seems to know everyone involved in his death, including all the members of the Dutch Van der Linde gang. Why would the Grim Reaper or a god announce to Arthur or John, “I know you”? It’s more like he’s saying, “I know you, and I didn't forget what you people did to me”
Bad Points (RDR2)
- We’re building up to something, right? Well... maybe not. There’s a point that really punches holes in my theory: the connection between Herbert Moon, the town of Armadillo, and the Strange Man. Why would a vengeful soul make a deal with Herbert Moon and keep watch over Armadillo? Yep, theory seems dead... or maybe not quite yet.
Good Points (RDR1)
- When we first meet the Strange Man, John seems to somewhat recognize him (in RDR2, John also mentions that he looks familiar when he talks to Herbert Moon about the photo, though he likely means Trelawny). This could hint that John either shot him or saw him during the robbery.
- The Strange Man mentions how John doesn’t even remember the girl Dutch killed in cold blood, asking why he’d remember him (the Strange Man) if he couldn’t remember her. This disappointed tone could hint that he’s a victim of John or of the robbery in general.
- When John asks, “What is your game?” the Strange Man turns and replies that he doesn’t have a game (he seems offended by the question, as if being a ghost bothers him). This could explain why he appears and speaks in such a tired state.
- The Strange Man says he wishes he knew more about life and had better guidance, possibly suggesting he’s tied to his killers, unable to feel anything but remorse for his death and its circumstances.
- He sends John to save a man's marriage, perhaps to test whether the man he thinks about in every moment of his tormented existence has any glimmer of a soul and deserves redemption after all he’s done.
- The Strange Man says, “I know who you are,” which could imply he knows the kind of person John is. Who better to say this than someone John directly or indirectly killed?
- In the next encounter, if John convinces the man not to cheat on his wife, the Strange Man calls out John’s hypocrisy: “You kill people so easily, yet you respect the vows of marriage... that's very curious.” The way he stands behind John conveys hidden emotions, perhaps rage or mere curiosity. How could the man who killed him have such principles when he was shot over a robbery gone wrong?
- In the final encounter, when John asks his name, the Strange Man says, “It’s the darnedest thing—I can’t remember.” This suggests that despite all his knowledge of the past, present, and future, and his self-discovery, he still can’t recall his own name.
- Finally, the Strange Man tells John about his life’s actions: “Oh, but you will, you will be responsible.” Then he walks away, commenting on the spot (where John and almost all of his family will eventually be buried). He appears almost happy or enlightened in this encounter, compared to the others, calling John a cowboy and saying he’ll see him around. Knowing John is about to die seems to bring him peace, as if it will finally allow him to rest after years in limbo.
Bad Points (RDR1)
And here we are, the end of the road. There are points that weaken the theory, such as when he says he’s an “accountant… in a way.” If he’d just said, “I am an accountant,” it would fit perfectly with his fancy suit. But adding “in a way” implies he might be Death itself. When John shouts, “Damn you,” he replies, “Many have,” suggesting he’s a supernatural entity universally hated—perhaps the Grim Reaper or, just maybe, a really terrible accountant in his past life lol.
Conclusion
Yay, we’re finally done! I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it. Let me know any thoughts or additions you have on this theory, or if I got something wrong! See you around, cowboys!
(Darn, I should really get back to studying for my exams instead of making wild theories on the internet… nah!)

I just noticed, after all this time, that the doll on IKZ's trunk in the Van Horn Fence levitates. Usually it lays on the trunk but sometimes it raises up high enough to see the complete Luxembourg crest underneath. I imagine I have seen this over and over and just never paid attention.
I have played with it for a bit and it almost seems like I can change the state of the doll by pulling the Wanted poster at the Saloon or by leaving the city limits. Respawning the poster also seems to reset the doll.
Has anyone ever noticed this before? Any other research someone can point me to? Thank you!
UPDATE: I went back to the earliest save I have in my current playthrough, which is "A Fine Night of Debauchery" at 54% completion. The doll behaves the same way with Arthur that it does with John.
Did we ever figure out the p_ancientarrowhead01x, p_ancientarrowhead02x, and p_ancientarrowhead03x? Are there other arrowheads and that is why the Dreamcatcher quest never goes away? Sorry if this has been answered and since I have nothing new to contribute here, but didn't see anything active on it.
I went to the strange mans cabin and shot the few glass bottles that were hanging from the roof. Then i went to the whiskey tree and shot bottles there. Now next to Arthurs bed there are tin cans and broken glass bottles.
So I know mount shann still remains a mystery but recently I was looking into the 4 alien rock paintings with the moon phases, and I read the news paper article which said they have been found around big valley, it doesn’t specify how many though… and considering the moon has loads of phases maybe there’s more rock paintings to be discovered, currently searching for more possible paintings. Has anyone else found any more than the 4 already found??
I recently discovered that many of the trees are part of what looks Like the ruins of an overgrown city does anyone know some background ? The ruins are just a few hundred meters away from Saint Dennis.
So a lot of you know that damaging the native burial grounds can can cause an endless storm if you follow the right steps.
Well the 5 faces on the trees are a point of interest nearby and personally I think one of the faces represents natives and another represent Nordic people(I'm not gonna pretend to know what all of them are).
So has anybody ever tried starting the endless storm and visiting other buriel grounds like the Viking tomb specifically?
Also another tree face looks like bigfoot and there's a skeleton big enough to fit the bill
I've seen this several times now, whenever I've been high up somewhere in Ambarino at night...
Looking down towards and past Saint Denis, I see two lights that are always in the same spot relative to Saint Denis, regardless of what angle I'm looking from. They seem well out of the map to me, as you can see they are well beyond the other side of the Lannahechee River.
I've never been one for glitching out of the map, but this tempts me. Can anyone else confirm they've seen this and maybe someone has tried to glitch out and go take a look?
was "roleplaying" (dont judge me for bringin life to the game) getting lost in the snowy mountains on horseback and surviving on hunting and stuff, when the weather got really bad like a blizzard. and i happend to come across lake isabella that quickly caught my eyes with this green light? anyone else seen this?
Throughout the map of Red Dead Redemption there are a multitude of tribes, societies, sects, cults and gangs that could all be linked to each other by their origins.
“The Night Folk”, a criminal gang coming from inside the Lagras swamp, which is associated with voodoo by the 4 symbols painted on the trees, is also associated with the pagan ritual to the west of the map, as the symbol on the ground in the ritual is one of the symbols of the swamp.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, in the pagan ritual we find the severed head of a goat, which is connected to the village of Butcher Creek, all the inhabitants suffer from deformities and mange, the official explanation is that it is because they drink contaminated water from the Elysian Pool mine, but what if there was another parallel theory that also fits?
In a house on the outskirts of town a glowing satanic pentagram appears under the ruins of the floor at night, perhaps intended to curse someone through the bed, but what if this curse had spread to all the inhabitants?
The town of Butcher Creek reinforces this theory as there is a large population of goats, an animal associated with Satanism, which even behave in strange ways.
But the subject goes even further, the pagan ritual is located west of Lake Owanjila, an area with many mysteries and secrets, another of these secrets is an Indian site, in which there is a human skull nailed to a stick, along with some rocks and tents made of skin.
There are mainly two Indian streams on the map: The “Wapiti tribe”, an Indian reservation to the north, and the “Skinner brothers”, a criminal gang similar to the “Night Folk”, the latter are known for sacrificing people in brutal ways, mutilating and even placing animal skulls on the corpses, just like in the pagan ritual, which is located just a little north of the Skinner area, in Tall Trees.
And finally mention the witch of Red Dead Redemption, who in the region of Ambarino has a small shelter made of logs, with human skulls, animals, potions, candles and a bubbling cauldron.
What this theory tells is that all these gangs and entities could have been united in one in the past, but due to the different perception of each one they ended up separating and settling in different places all over the map, and this may have happened many years ago, taking into account how well settled these cults are and the ruins of some related buildings.
I was riding through the swamp tonight during night time and saw a white dot hit the mini map and a ghostly voice yell “Come back to me”
When I went over there, nothing. And it didn’t happen again.
Between that shit and the Night Folks, I’ve had about enough of the damn swamps.
Hi there!
Looking for places to sit in rdr2 I passed this spot and heard a man coughing but I went down to the river and there is nothing, also nothing on the tall trees side does anyone know who it is or where to find him exactly? I'm in chapter 3
