Glitch: Gallery of images not displaying correctly when opened inside Reddit (screenshot inside)

What's up? Opening images in Reddit works when there's a single image, but the feature for multiple images, with the arrows to go from one image to the other in the gallery seems to be broken.

    Where does it happen?

Anywhere where there's a gallery of images to be displayed

Comment karma no longer shows in header

What's up? / Where does it happen?

Where it used to show both post and comment karma in the header of Old Reddit using a RES option (RES settings console → My Account → Show Karma (showKarma) → Show Comment Karma (showCommentKarma)) now it only shows post karma.

Literally just started minutes ago, one moment it worked fine, then the next page I loaded and every refresh thereafter showed only post karma.

I tried turning that option off and on again, not sure what else to try. Everything else works fine, and I don't want anything else to break.

I have the latest version of chrome. RES was running on it just fine. Not sure what caused it to stop working, but it doesn't work. However, typing this post, it has the layout of RES.

Is it possible to import and export (i.e. share) User Tags?

Perhaps this is already a feature, but I would like to export and import User Tags to share with others and aggregate tags from other users.

I poked around a bit and see where they exist in .resbackup so I could parse them out from there with a bit of work but importing them is a bit more precarious -- is this possible? I also wonder about duplicate detection if tag lists are shared.

I found the dashboard https://www.reddit.com/r/Dashboard/#userTaggerContents which seems like the most logical place to have an export/import feature but I don't see anything like that. Any advice?

    Thanks!

RES broke on the new Firefox update

On current Mozilla RES just breaks. Other extensions are ublock origin, privacy badger and dark reader (disabled on reddit).

I had no issues until yesterday, until Firefox updated. It got stuck in a crash loop so I had to reinstall everything. It worked well for a few hours, but suddenly it's like it's not installed, regardless of how many times I modify settings or reload. For example Night mode is on, but the pages are not night mode. Infinite scroll is on (with clicking to load the next page under the previous one), and I get normal pages.

Current Firefox, other installed extensions are uBlock Origin, Dark Reader (normally disabled on Reddit) Privacy Badger.

Again, I've used RES on Firefox for the past few years, and this is the first time it happens.

    Firefox Restore: "No file selected"

Running Firefox 124.0.1 (i.e. current) on Windows 10, with a fresh Firefox profile, no other extensions installed, and anti-virus disabled.

RES Settings Console > Backup & Restore > Backup File -- creates a (small) .resbackup file

RES Settings Console > Backup & Restore > Restore File -- gives an error box "No file selected"

RES on Firefox is also unable to restore backups created in Chrome.

RES on Chrome has no such issues.

This appears to have been a problem over the years for other people (example) but none of the suggested solutions work for me (javascript console stuff, enabling pop-ups, just waiting and it magically works, etc.)

Something about RES is breaking Reddit's video player on Old Reddit.

The video player doesn't even appear/exist. I disable RES entirely in Edge settings and everything works again. I tried going through RES settings and disabling RES settings one at a time, but it seems like every time I pick a setting to disable, it fixes it, but then I reenable it and it stays fixed again, making it harder to narrow it down.

    RES v5.24.x Known Issues

Will update here as stuff is found. Current rollout at bottom.

Twitter Expandos no longer show any style in Chrome

This is because of new MV3 restrictions on remotely hosted code, we cannot pull in Twitters js anymore to style it.

The icon in/by the URL bar no longer toggles the subreddit style

    This is fixed in 5.24.4.

Sometimes the Mediaplayer expando doesnt load.

Looking into this now, appears to be CSP related but is also random when it happens.

Read me if your question is about Chrome permission prompts

I've started to push our RES 5.24.x to Chrome beta waves and an error in the manifest means the extension will disable itself with permission prompts. This is fixed in 5.24.2 going forwards and will not happen for general release.

RES is now asking for my geolocation?

Technically yes, but also no. RES uses your location for Nightmode if you select automatic mode which requires geolocation (this is opt-in). Before we had this as an optional permission, however this is no longer allowed and must be required per: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/reference/api/permissions#implement_optional_permissions

RES is suddenly asking for access to lots of sites like twitter/google?

If you updated to 5.24.0, yes this is correct. I messed up a manifest change and put sites we use for media embeds into required permissions. This has been fixed in 5.24.2.

Stupid Question. Why do I get routed to the 'Nice Hat' post when I click on an image.

    What's up?

Sorry, this has been happening for months, since the API kerfuffle. I've just never asked about it. It's probably a common/known issue.

Basically, I can expand inline images, but if I click on an image or a post title that links to an image, it takes me to this post.

To the point where 'nice hat' has become a private meme. Don't know why I'm just now asking for help.

    Where does it happen?

Everywhere on reddit. I only use in-browser on my laptop and also on my phone, also Firefox with Ublock.

It doesn't happen on bullshit reddit, just oldreddit.

    Screenshots or mock-ups

So like if I click the 'expand image' button here, it works. But if I click the image or the title 'Linzer Cookies,' it takes me to the nice hat link.

Stray Click Changed Gallery View - Help Please!

What's up? Using v5.22.17 on Chromium Version 122.0.6261.111 (Official Build) (64-bit). Not a bug - a stray mouse click clearly changed a setting and I can't figure out how to undo it.

When expanding a gallery, RES previously displayed one image with "Next" and "Last" (I think) options to cycle through the gallery. I inadvertently clicked something in the upper left area of the expando and now it shows all of the images one below the last vertically. I've tried all of the options that seem to fix this under Productivity and Inline Image Viewer but can't seem to reset it.

    RES wont load in Firefox

After some update with Firefox RES wont load anymore. When I go to my extensions page in FF it says RES is enabled, but when I got to reddit and then click on the extensions button on the toolbar its greyed out like its not loaded.

It looks like FF is disabling RES even though I have it set to load. Ive cleared cache/cookies. Ive removed and reinstalled RES. I've checked to make sure that it has permissions to run on the page.

Im not sure what to do here.

RES doesn't remember read comments anymore

    What's up?

Since yesterday, RES doesn't seem to remember what comments are read anymore. If I try to filter out read comments, nothing gets filtered out. If I do this in a thread I read 2 (or more) days ago, the comments get filtered out just fine. It's only in recent threads from yesterday onward. I've always had the setting "Read Comments" turned on and it's still turned on now

    Where does it happen?

Switching Reddit accounts doesn't seem to work anymore

    What's up?

I use several accounts which RES allows me to set up. It creates a dropdown (I use Old Reddit) where I click to switch. In the last few days, it stopped recognizing my password on old reddit. I can do it in new Reddit, by logging in there, then switching back to Old Reddit. But it is annoying. It's like it happened this week (but there was some notice on RES recently?)

    Where does it happen?

In the top bar where the subreddits occur. I click on Snoo (the Reddit alien) right of my username and select an alternate account to switch to.

    Screenshots or mock-ups

None. Just says the password isn't recognized in a modal.

    Image captions no longer work

    Example post with missing captions

What it looks like to me

Not sure when it stopped working (is image captions a new Reddit feature?) but I can't see image captions on reddit image posts. Disabling RES makes them appear. I tried messing around with the captions settings (turned display image captions off, hard reload, turned image captions on, hard reload) and changing caption positions in the settings but they don't appear at all.

I know RES is on life support but I would be very sad to have to turn it off, I'm entirely used to the extension after 12 or so years of using it :)

Hoping someone has an easy fix.
