Using Firefox, it seems in-line YouTube links won't load properly if Ghostery extension is active.

Sorry if this is known issue, the link to https://redditenhancementsuite.com/knownissues/ is coming up 404 for me. Will keep Ghostery off for now, I guess. Think this has been happening since the last RES update.

Images in comments show up as [1]?

I can't see any images in any of the comment sections, they just show up as [1] without showing the image/gif. I looked through the settings and couldn't find anything causing it, does anyone know what's causing it? It's only the images in other people's comments in the comment section, and only the "direct" images (the ones hosted by reddit itself, not links to imgur or whatever).

Legacy Profile / New Profile: Locked into one or the other based on Reddit settings

What's up? The shortcuts for "Legacy Profile" and "New Profile" don't work. Users are locked into one or the other. This is an issue whether the stock Reddit settings are to use the new vs. old Reddit experience.

For added consideration, while not the actual issue: If Reddit settings are to use the old experience, then users are locked into only using the old regardless of whether they use www.Reddit.com or new.Reddit.com. If Reddit settings are set to allow the the new reddit experience, then users can choose the old experience with old.Reddit.com. However, the issue at the top still exists, and the Legacy Profile shortcut and New Profile shortcuts don't work.

    New Profile
    profileView
Go to new profile (profile pages only).
    Shift-P

    Legacy Profile
    overviewLegacy
Go to legacy (overview) profile (profile pages only).
    Shift-O

    Profile Redirect
    profileRedirect is OFF

    Where does it happen? Reddit.

What browser extensions are installed? RES only - Disabled the rest for testing.

Disable unexpected/non-standard Ctrl-E behavior on MacOS?

    What's up?

In the text input box for writing the text of comments/submissions, hitting Ctrl-E brings up some kind of split screen view with the text a preview side by side. This is surprising and unexpected behaviour since ordinarily on MacOS Ctrl-E is one of the operating system's basic text-editing shortcuts, used to move the cursor to the end of the current line. Is there a way to disable this key-binding and allow Ctrl-E to have its usual, expected behaviour of moving the cursor to the end of the current line?

    Where does it happen?

In comment/submission text input boxes on MacOS (Sequoia).

    What browser extensions are installed?

Brave (current version) with the RES extension installed.

High CPU usage on Reddit page load/reload with RES enabled.

    What's up? ???

Title pretty much sums it up. Loading a new reddit tab* or reloading an existing one; CPU usage jumps to around 100 or higher, for that tab, in Chrome's Task Manager, for around 5 to 10 seconds. Way longer than the page took to load.

*Any reddit page, subreddit, etc etc. I'm on old reddit.

With RES disabled, it jumps to maybe 20-30 for a second.

The main problem is it heats up my CPU a lot more than usual during these 5-10 seconds and makes my cooler ramp up and down, which is annoying.

'Memory footprint' also about doubles during this time, in this case to about 220-230,000K and after it stops, it's around 115,000K

In Windows Task Manager, it also shows a higher CPU usage, but only from about 2-3% to 7-8%. But it's enough to heat my CPU to over 70'C while before this issue it usually didn't go above 60-65(maximum peak temps from HWinfo64 during browsing)

All this also happens with all RES modules disabled inside RES so it doesn't seem to be an issue with a certain module but the extension as a whole.

    Where does it happen? ???

Chrome Version 133.0.6943.16 (Official Build) beta (64-bit) and Windows 11 LTSC 24H2

    Screenshots or mock-ups ???

    none

What browser extensions are installed? ???

Quite a few but seems irrelevant since it also happens with all others disabled and only RES enabled.

I am on Beta Chrome and 2 or so days ago there was an update from ver. 132. So it might be a Chrome bug, especially since my cursor has been acting up only in Chrome, disappearing or not changing shape like it should - This cursor bug gets fixed after browser restart.

But I also updated Windows itself and a couple other programs so I'm not sure.

EDIT: I downgraded to Chrome 132 main release channel. This doesn't happen anymore. So it seems to be a bug with Chrome 133.

Never Ending Feed is just repeating the same first page.

What's up? As stated in the title, the neverending feed is not updating beyond page 1. And the page 1 it shows seems outdated - Posts haven't updated for me in the last hour. As I scroll, the page loads as if it's a new page but the URL does not update to reflect the progess, just stays on old.reddit.com. Only started within the last few hours without closing/resetting chrome. Resetting chrome did not fix it. Maybe a change to old.reddit?

Where does it happen? Reddit home page only, not on specific subreddits. Google Chrome on Windows 11

Ignore never ignores user's submissions on multireddits

I've found that the RES ignore option works on comments but never on submissions outside of the front page.

I have a few multireddit's set up and any user I ignore is immediately visible again on a refresh/the next day, just now with a 'ignored' tag attached to them.

I use old.reddit.com, and have both "Users Match Action" and "Users Match Replies Action" set to hide, and it only seems to work for the comment's section of posts.

I also use ublock Origin and don't know if that causes issues.

Unable to locate RES data on old drive

    Hi,

Long story short, I only have the drive of my old computer and would like to copy the RES configuration from there. Yes, I should have backed it up prior. I tried using the method listed in the wiki, but could not locate the storage.js file. It seems the folder structure in FF has changed. Is it possible to find my old configuraton on my old drive? Thanks.

[Solved] Chrome suddenly not using RES after an update. Fixed with `chrome://restart`.

I had the unpleasant experience of seeing vanilla Reddit today and went from annoyed to borderline panic when it was both my Laptop and Desktop affected. My extension that makes [ and ] change the playback speed of videos was also not working.

Weirdly rebooting the laptop did not resolve the issue, but using chrome://restart in the address bar did fix everything.

    Problem with OneDrive backup

Hi, I've had a problem with the OneDrive backup option for the past week. I use Reddit on two separate computers, with the automatic backup turned on.

Usually I switch every few days, and the pop-up to restore backup always showed up, prompting me to restore my RES data from the OneDrive backup, due to me enabling the automatic backup. However, since last Friday, the pop-up hasn't been seen, nor has the option to restore via backup worked. I also cannot backup the data itself.

I checked my OneDrive folder, and the RES file is there, last updated when the issue started occurring. When I try backing up or restoring, a single error message shows up, stating:

    https://api.onedrive.com/v1.0/drive/special/approot:/res-storage.json:/content failed with status 403

Here is a screenshot of the error.

I've tried clearing the cache, disabling RES, deleting the RES file in the drive itself, but nothing. I'd appreciate assistance :)

    Never Ending Reddit Repeating Posts

I have searched this via google, reddit as well as looked around on the RES reddit help area and while I found others with the same issue, I have not found an answer.

During infinite scroll once the feed starts over the majority of posts on the first page are repeated with only a few new posts. each page after that is the same. Even if I hide a post on one page, it shows up on the next one unless I refresh the tab. This has been going on for a while, but I'm lazy and am now getting around to looking into it.

Through searching I found that a lot of people had this problem a year ago but there is never a fix posted. A few people mention that it's a known issue and RES is working on it, but here I am.

I turned the RES extension off and the problem does not persist. With regular (old) reddit I get to the end of page one, click to go to the next page and there are all new, unseen posts.

I have this problem on my home PC, work PC and laptop. All three run the same browser and extensions. Is there a setting I'm not aware of or anything else I can do to fix this?

Where can I use the "On-demand only" custom post filters?

The question has already been posted by another user, but there are no answers to it.

What is the purpose of this checkbox? Based on what it says and where it is, I'd expect a checkbox/toggle switch to appear on the reddit page(s) that I visit and actually offer me to quickly toggle the filter when the need arises. It seems to be doing nothing other than turning off the filter when checked in the filter's setup page.

    [bug] I can't save posts/comments to a specific category/tag anymore and can't even filter

RES used to have this save feature: If you have Reddit gold on an account, you can add a category/tag to comments you have saved with Reddit, then filter saved comments/posts by category. (You cannot sort or filter comments saved with RES.)

I've had Reddit Premium for many years now and still have over 9 months remaining. I really love the categorization option for saving posts. 99% of the time I use old.Reddit. I remember being able to filter for specific category not that long ago. I know it was on September 29 because that's when I made [this wiki on the r/drugs sub to prepare for 'Best of 2024' post/event I was planning to do (link to that wiki. I've been collecting posts/comment I thought might be good material since Jan first 2024.

Now the filter buttons are gone on my saved posts/comments section of my profile page. And I can't add new saved posts to specific categories (see screen capture for what I mean.

Using latest version of Firefox (131.0.3 (64-bit)) and the RES extension (Version 5.24.7). Disabled all other extensions but still didn't fix it. Tried saving with most recent/up to date Edge browser and RES exertion too (Version 5.24.7) and doesn't work there either.

Btw, for both browsers I even disabled the 'Enhanced Tracking Protection' built in the browser.

Did Reddit somehow make it so that this feature doesn't work anymore?
