To cut to the chase, I've stumbled across an IP address which gives me access to four live cameras, and a dashboard to control a load of connected devices (lights, television, etc.) - the homeowners have no idea.

I'm trying to locate the house on Google Maps, so that I can get in touch with them and let them know that their network isn't secure.

I have stills from the camera feeds, but this community doesn't allow attachments on posts... so might not be the best place for this request? Also, I don't think this request is against community rules because I'm looking for a property, and not a person, and it's to inform them (and not harass or dox them)

Police are involved; investigation seems to be split between between Surrey (his home) & Hampshire (where he was last seen) constabularies, as well as the British Transport Police.

They've had sniffer dogs, thermal drones, helicopter searching through woodland during the night - no trace so far.

They've encouraged sharing on social media - currently trying to get them to post an appeal on their pages directly as lots of places/people will take an appeal straight from the authorities more seriously.

Okay so some context. So it started today at like 2:00pm. I was in class and my friend, let’s call him Jay, called me. I answered bc we were in different classes at the time and he might’ve needed smth. So like I said. I answered and I go. “Hello?” “Jay? You need smth?” And I don’t hear any noise. So I keep him on the phone for abt 10 seconds and then I hang up. I js shrug it off and continue working.

I never called u wtf?” He shows me his call log or wtv it’s called and it shows that he got a missed call from me at like 1:54 and I go “uh weird?” And then I show him mine which said “missed call from jay- 1:53”

‼️THAT MAKES 0 SENSE. LIKE HOW COULD I HAVE CALLED HIM AT 1:54 BUT I ANSWER HIS CALL FROM 1:53?! AND WHY DOES IT SAY MISSED CALL IF I ANSWERED?! Like hello!!‼️

and then! The real kicker is I’m literally sitting directly infront of him. My friend, let’s call him Chad lmao, is next to me and we’re working. And I feel my watch buzzing. And I look and it says “Jay” I look up at Jay and he goes “Okay what the hell” and it shows that im calling him. Our phones are both ringing at the same time. From eachother. And both of our phones were off. Not even on each others contact. So how did we call eachother? We’re still super confused

He thinks someone got his Apple ID or smth. But I sure as hope not. And why is it only happening to me and him? Not him and Chad or someone else?!! Please help if you have info. Id love to hear yalls thoughts 🙏‼️

Back in the earlier days of the internet, there were discussion boards that are probably more similar to Reddit than anything else I can think of. There was a website called Babycenter.com that organized expectant mothers by their due dates. A group of women with similar due dates and interests corralled into an off-site group, and then into a Facebook group. After several meetups over the past twenty years, one of our group members stopped interacting. This isn’t unusual because while we didn’t post/chat every day, this person would drop off for weeks at a time. I posted on her Facebook page, sent her a text, Facebook message, and the other ways I’ve interacted with her in the past. One of our group members found, beneath a number of Cryptocurrency posts, this person’s obituary. She died in late November, and we didn’t know. I’ve sent messages to her family — those who have social media accounts— and a couple of her friends. They don’t know me, so they haven’t resoonded.

How can I find out what happened? There were no signs given to us. We were her real, actual friends. I miss her. She and I were making plans for her to visit right around the time that she died. And then she was gone.

If anyone can help me figure out how to get a mug shot of someone who was arrested in the last 4 months it would be much appreciated! I can provide more details as to the “why” if asked. Thank you in advance!

The driver of this vehicle was speeding and driving recklessly, nearly causing a most likely fatal crash. I only managed to get 3 photos before they decided to turn left while the light was still red (probably because they noticed my brother and I with our phones out trying to get their license plate). This photo was the better of the 3. I realize it would've been better if I used my eyes to read the plate, but we were in a state of shock after what happened.

ETA: This is in Texas. Vehicle is a Tahoe. It may be a dark red color. My intention is only to report to crime stoppers even if nothing comes from it. Yes, I know I doxxed myself with dropbox.

I got a lot of helpful advice & concerned replies on my original post so I figured I'd make an update in case anyone was curious.

I got in contact with the district attorneys office and they were able to give me some details about the case. Apparently he drove by my parents house one night and threw a beer can in their yard & a cop saw and pulled him over. He told the arresting officer something about me being there, and claimed that I had taken him to a hospital ealier that night??? (I certainly hadn't considering I wasn't even in the county) So I guess that was how I ended up being listed as a victim.

I explained how he was lying and had been stalking me for years, the receptionist kinda brushed me off, said I didn't need to come to the hearing if I didn't want to, and told me they'd call if they needed anything from me. The preliminary hearing happened yesterday and today the docket sheet was updated with date for the next hearing so they're going forward with prosecuting.

Tbh the fact that hes still coming by my parents house and throwing things in their yard is pretty creepy to me. And it seems like my hunch that he was trying to draw me out by telling officers I was involved was unfortunately correct. Pretty unsettling overall, but I'm glad I know the details now at least.

On the small bright side, since the letter was sent by the courts themselves & he had shown up at my parents house looking for me I don't think he knows where I actually live now. From what the receptionist said they don't give victims info to defendants either so hopefully it'll stay that way.

& Pimeye told me that my IP and/or account was banned for uploading photos of children to pimeye, when I NEVER have. It appears I triggered one of it's security features and caused it to malfunction. I also wasnt using a static IP address nor was I logged into pimeye, so it was actually the photo of this 35 yr old that triggered Pimeye, and not me.
Maybe it thought the 35 yr old was a child? I dont know.

Question is, why would Pimeye ban using pics of children's faces for searching?

I was thinking, what if I have children and want to make sure no photos of them exist online, or on the darkweb, which pimeye claims to be able to search for you too. I've also never paid the premium subscription so I've never used that top tier deep darkweb search service.

For the past four years, we receive the same envelope in the mail, each time with a single dollar bill and no message.

Addressed to our business name, not a specific person, in a plain #10 envelope with the address handwritten.

First in 2020, second in 2022, and the third was received this week (2024). Besides the interval of two years being the same, they come in different months.

No return address, postmarked from Sacramento, CA, and sent regular first class mail (no tracking) Postage stamp is always upside down.

Handwriting seems to match between envelopes. Road is abbreviated lowercase as “rd.” the same way each time, which makes me think that the same person is addressing the envelopes year after year.

A little backstory and detail. I am the only person at this small business who checks the mail, so I am confident that there were not any more envelopes received that I don’t know about. When I received the first one in 2020, I thought it was odd but it was the middle of the COVID shutdown so everything was odd. I thought maybe someone was trying to show support for a small business? I took out the dollar bill and tossed the envelope. When the second arrived in 2022, I recognized it as almost identical to the first and saved it. The repetition weirded me out and I tried searching online for others with similar experiences but came up empty.

I can assume it is NOT the following:

Not a brushing scam. No “product” and no tracking that would prove it was shipped or delivered

Not a survey request. Gallup and Nielsen identify that they are the senders and there is literally no clue to the sender’s identity.

Not a sales pitch. Or if it is, it is badly executed. This was the closest I came to an answer to the mystery but doesn’t really line up. The dollar would be sent as an “in” for a follow up sales call that references the “money that’s already back in your wallet.” No one has ever called/emailed and referenced it in any way.

When I grabbed the mail on Monday and saw the latest envelope, I knew right away that when I opened it the only thing inside would be a single dollar bill. All of the envelopes are so similar and we don’t get a ton of snail mail in the first place (especially hand addressed) so they stand out.

In the end, there is nothing threatening about them but not knowing the intention behind the sending of the envelopes and money just weirds me out.

Why are they being sent? Who is sending them? Has anyone heard of anything similar?

I posted this in the Tampa subreddit and figured I'd post here, mainly because I am curious and intrigued as to why my stolen phone would show up after 3 days of being turned off in a vacant building. I've resolved the situation by purchasing a new phone and marking the stolen device as "lost" through iCloud ($1000 later....), but I thought I'd ask for some insight from the RBI community because I am petty and still pissed off about the money, time and stress it caused me as a tourist trying to have fun on vacation.

This is a complete shot in the dark but I thought inquire here. I am not from the area, but was in St. Pete this past weekend and had my iphone stolen at a bar. I noticed almost immediately, but it was already turned off and untraceable. I marked the device as lost on a friends phone almost immediately as well - today, the location of the device changed from the bar in St. Pete to 900 N Howard ave in Tampa.

I’m already 5 states away back home and it is what it is..but I am curious, does anyone know anything about this property and why my phone’s location would show up there? I’m guessing it’s some sort of low key crime operation to wipe stolen phones and resell them. I looked the address up and it appears to be an old cigar factory. The phone numbers connected to the address for possible owners or residents are disconnected.

I did contact the Tampa police via the non-emergency number and was told I’d need to make a report with St. Pete police; at this point, that is not worth my time, so I’m just making this post out of pure curiosity to see what any locals think about it.

• The location of my phone in Tampa is 25 minutes from where I was in St. Pete, FL, and it was my friend who noticed the location change because she has me on the Find My Friends app.

I had this old friend of mine on discord and they deleted their account a while back and now I have absolutely no way to contact them. Is there any other way I can figure out if they are on any other social medias? All I remember was their name was Mahiah in korean for some reason on Discord and had a kpop idol as a pfp. My father's funeral was last Friday, with military honors. During the funeral procession to the cemetery there was a reckless driver weaving in and out of each car trying to get past. I was the lead family car so only saw when passed us and the hearse, but heard from other family members the rest. Ahead of the hearse was the lead car to help with traffic. They tried passing them on the right. The funeral director even told us their lead car was almost run off the road. It was one of the most disrespectful things our family has ever seen. I realized later that night the dashcam was recording. We did call police and they requested the video, but the resolution of uploaded YouTube video link was not be good enough to get a plate - which they were asking for from the video.

I am hoping RBI can use the original .MOV file from dashcam to help resolve the license plate number and make/model for the car for a police report. The car is only on-screen for a few seconds, from 00:10 to 00:30 as it passes

EDIT: I should have rephrased it differently. I understand being disrespectful is not against the law, but disrupting and passing through a funeral procession is in Michigan. (MCL - Section 257.654) If the driver was in an emergency, then that is a valid reason and understandable. We don't know that yet and the officer can talk to them to find out. Otherwise it is a civil infraction and a fine. I understand it may be a long-shot but figured at least give it a try on RBI, as a friend recommendation. The officer asked if we had a license plate number so they could interview them and get their side. If valid, no further action.

Reason: My brother and I are looking for a friend of ours from highschool. He got into a controlling relationship soon after we graduated and it turned pretty quickly into him going quiet, and disappearing. The last time time I saw him he said he was glad to see me but urged me away before his girlfriend came back from the bathroom bc she would "freak out". He was always a really sweet, affectionate, and loyal friend and it was really jarring to see him that way. They moved out of state and last we knew his family didn't even know where he was.

Issue: His old number is gone and his old social media deleted. We have his name, and our hometown where he lived for a very long time, and we're trying to see if we can get his birthday, and reaching out to his siblings, but I'm just wondering if there's a way for us to try and search him? Here’s the context: We were both on a flight from Marrakech to Barcelona on April 22, 2024. The text was quickly written and handed to me discreetly. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to speak to the person as we disembarked in a rush.

Hey guys, as a resident of the surrounding town, I've had the pleasure of interviewing a WW2 vet who gave me some interesting information about the Air Force Base.

Now, obviously the Air Force didn't exist during this time period, but records show that this was still an active Army base. This veteran told me that after Pearl Harbor, during the imprisonments of Japanese-Americans, Vance was used as a Labor Camp for the prisoners.

There are no records anywhere on this. On paper or online. The closest "hint" I can find is on a plaque on a model plane in the visitor center lawn.

"After the re-opening of Vance AFB in 1958..." etc. etc.

I have dash camera footage of an incident where my car is keyed, the video shows the person approach my car followed by the sound of them impacting the vehicle. This sound is a little unique because the car has fiberglass body panels rather than metal. I have performed a video motion analysis confirming that the sounds of impact correspond with movement of the car indicating impact. if you look carefully you can see the reflection of the man on the paint of the trunk of the car in front of me however it is difficult to see easily. Please let me know what you can glean from this video. The damage is 2 key marks starting near the bottom of the door curving upward and to the left with the second being longer with a greater variance in pressure going from harder at the bottom to lighter toward the end of the stroke. I'm seeking info about a Canadian military operation from the 50's called "Exercise Red Fox." There's literally no info about it online, and I'm wondering if this was a cover-up by the Canadian Government to deal with the second Chalk River Nuclear Plant meltdown in 1958 under the guise of a military operation. My grandfather, a soldier, was involved in the Chalk River cleanup effort under a fake name and was not able to share any info about it before he passed two decades ago.

a few weeks ago, my neighbor was found passed away in their apartment. it was incredibly tragic and somewhat traumatic because i witnessed the family trying to break their way in and helped contact EMTs/ the landlord/ etc. she was found deceased inside her unit, but i never got what the cause of death / context was. once EMTs arrived i removed myself from the situation to try to avoid triggering some unresolved trauma i have from witnessing a different death. i have my suspicions of what the cause of death could be, but no way to verify them. All i have is a first name (that is likely a nickname), location (Portland, Oregon), the date she was discovered, and would recognize her if i saw an image. Any help is appreciated. i’ve googled a bit but haven’t had any luck.

It's a long story, but a friend's estranged husband died somewhere in the US on April 8th, driving from Oregon to somewhere on the east coast. We haven't been able to find an obituary, death confirmation, news article etc. Since he's known to be abusive and manipulative, I have some concerns that there's some trickery afoot since they're in the middle of divorce proceedings.

Does anyone have access to a database, newspapers, anything that could help us find out what happened? All we have is the word of his mother, who called only to say "he was killed" and "it's [my friends] fault" somehow. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! Im an intern and I made my first fuck-up..Is it possible to update link of a printed qr code? We already have 100 copies of our flyer to be handed out this week and the qr code on the front is wrong.

We're running a campaign to spread word about our services and ultimately drive traffic to our website. I was tasked to make a flyer with qr codes for convenience. The final design took me 3 revisions before it got approved. However, the qr code on the front page of our flyer leads to canva.com instead of our website. Im well aware it's all completely my fault for not checking things thoroughly. I was under the impression that the qr codes were all set by the time I did 2nd revision because I didn't get any other remarks other than just the photos and font on the flyer😭😭

Note: im not sure if the qr code is dynamic or static. Second, all I know is that I made this on a random website God knows where without any log-ins. Lastly, i know I messed up so bad

2nd edit: call me a liar all you want, the bank looked into it, found it was fraudulent, reversed the charges, asked if I wanted to get the cops involved. I said no.

I woke up this morning to a notification that an Amazon order has been shipped and will be delivered between April 25-29, but I haven’t ordered anything. Upon opening up Amazon, I see that a $100 Gabby’s Dollhouse toy was ordered on Friday around 5:30 and there was a Gabby’s Dollhouse backpack in my bag.

Now, my niece loves Gabby’s Dollhouse and her mom has used my Amazon account in the past, but it’s been years. I asked her first if she’d ordered it and she said no, she doesn’t use my account anymore, and her daughter already has that toy anyhow.

The order was charged to my card and is being delivered to my house. I’ve already started the return process, but I’m truly distressed over how this happened. I’ve scoured my emails and I haven’t found any login attempt emails, and I have 2 factor authentication turned on for my account. The order was placed around 5:30 on Friday the 19th while my phone was in my possession and I was at home. I did place an order on Friday at 3:40pm, an entirely different item (a charging cable.)

I’ve already changed my password and deleted all past devices (they were all my own old phones, deactivated and factory reset because they were all trade-ins.) I had one Kindle logged in, but it was from 2008 or so and has no browser access that I remember and is also in a box in a closet in my house.

At this point I’m just trying to figure out how this could have happened. The only idea that’s been suggested that makes any sense with all the details is that it was a targeted porch pirating attempt, but the delivery window is so wide that I can’t imagine that would be too effective. My only other idea, which seems so unlikely but other than questioning my own sanity is the only thing I can fathom, is that Amazon had a massive glitch that put someone else’s order onto my account.

I’m happy to get further into detail or give more information if anyone needs it to help me solve this mystery.

Update: I spoke to 5 Amazon representatives trying to get information about what device or IP this order was placed from or to obtain my login history. As expected from prior research, they claimed they couldn’t provide me that information due to “customer security.” I told them I understand that isn’t their choice, but that that would indicate they are protecting my account, but they really are hindering my access to security. The fifth person who claimed to be a supervisor also tried telling me they don’t track location information and at that point I was too exhausted to call him out. I’m supposed to be contacted within 24 hours and I’m not expecting much. To be sure that the call wasn’t coming from within the house, I took my phone to Best Buy and reviewed the apps on my phone with the Geek Squad guy to be sure none of them were known takeover apps. I work in cyber and financial security so I am quite familiar with these types of things, but I felt a second pair of eyes would make me feel better.

tl;dr: As expected, Amazon’s customer service has been useless.

Update 2: The plot thickens. I received my search history from Amazon. Not only did I not search for anything on Friday other than the item I did buy that afternoon, I can’t find any search for Gabby’s Dollhouse, toys, or anything I can’t identify or remember in my search history.
