Hi everyone, apologies if this has been posted here before. Can I have help translating “above all shadows rides the sun” in Quenya? I don’t trust the online translator machines. Thank in advance!
My fiancé is a huge Lord of the Rings fan and I want to engrave his wedding band using Tengwar. Could you help me translate the phrase “Just wanted you to know… I do.”?
I came across a few transcribers and tried to figure it out that way but I’m not sure if it’s accurate and am still missing some words. Here’s where I landed:
vin (just) mer- (want - is there a past tense?) tye (you) (could not find to) ista- (know)… (could not find I) (could not find do)
Hello my lovely fellow elven friends!
I would like to set my very first tattoo but am scared to make a mistake.
This is what i *think* is starlight or Silmë, in tengwar. Are there any experts who can confirm or negate this and please let me know how it *should* be?
Thanks! I want to get it next week, so please let me know asap.
Hi ! I'm french and I would like some tips to learn Quenya. A few month ago I bought a book (a dictionary) of Quenya and there are some lessons inside, but I don't know how to apply or learn more. Do you have tips to learn this language please ? Thanks
Hello hello,
I was wondering if I could ask for others to double-check my translation and for Tengwar advice.
I have translated “our (inclusive) languages” as “lambe-lva-r” and spelled it with: lambe, umbar, lambe, vala, óre (+tehtar):
It looks like óre is used to mark the plural “-r” in Namárië, so I went for that over rómen.
The one I am less sure about is “v”. The Eldamo dictionary uses vala over vilya in the entry for the first person inclusive plural suffix “-lva”. Nonetheless, I have not seen an example elsewhere of this “-lva” morpheme being written with Tengwar and I am not confident that it shouldn’t be vilya and look like:
Also, if it was historically “-lwa”, wouldn’t that also suggest that the letter should be vilya?
I posted first in the Tengwar subreddit, but was encouraged to ask here too, since I am asking for the spelling of the specific Quenya morpheme “-lva”.
Hantanye, thank you so much in advance!
Looking for a single compound word to use as a name for an custom fire themed instrument - my best translation is Naróma. Could anyone help?
How do you verb the noun “sanwë”? As I understand it, you would usually add -ta or -ya, making “sanwëta” or “sanwëya,” but seeing as the noun “tengwa” becomes the verb “tengwa,” it could be possible to create the verb “sanwa.” Is there a consensus on what the verb “to think” is in Quenya? Any input appreciated
Hello, does anyone know the translation in quenya of Gandalf saying "fly, you fools!" And maybe the transcription in tengwar? Thank you!
I'm working on a project and want to include part of the quote ' the shadow was only a passing thing'
I'm unsure of grammar but this is what I have so far:
" i fuine engë rie a xiéte engwë "
I then wish to stitch it in Tengwar
So I always wondered what would my name mean in Quenya, my name is Oliver which from what I understand can mean peace or hope but I have practically zero knowledge in how to make a name in Quenya. So what kind of name would mean one of those words? Sorry for being a bother but I'm just curious :P
Hey Tolkien community, reposting here from r/Tengwar, I would really appreciate some help.
I've been a fan of LOTR for over 20 years and have finally decided to get a tattoo - so what better to do for a first tattoo than to make a note of my first love.
I wanted to get Morningstar in Tengwar, but instead of just literally transcribing the English word, I wanted to use the "real" word. I went about trying to put something together from the words for morning and star, but I wanted to consult the experts among you before I put something permanent and wrong on my skin.
Would you say it would be Arinel (or Elarin?) from arin for morning and el for the star suffix/prefix? Something else entirely?
I went through the resources, but wanted to double-check, just in case. I'd really appreciate the help, and thank you in advance!
Hi I could you translate in Quenya "Story of an unfinished tale" or "Story of unfinished journey"? Thankyou so much
I've been trying to translate this phrase into elvish; "...a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism, suggesting that the firing process somehow binds space and time into..."
So far I've managed to come up with "a caethas lûg vi i escar gaud tëa i tegmā lia land ada lúmë mina" from using this website (https://www.elfdict.com/), however its a jumble of quenya and sindarin and grammatically incorrect (for example I know caethas is a noun when I need it in the form of an adjective).
My main goal is to be able to write the phrase in the tengwar script. any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hello!
This is my attempt at translating Theoden's "old" saying into Quenya. Having actually-knowledgable eyes look over it would be greatly appreciated.
lillumë ulcumenestava ulcurúcinon
Hi, everyone! Could anyone help translate the following lines? It's going on an Elvish fire themed guitar I'm having built at the moment from a luthier:
"My heat no mortal hand can tame;
My voice is wreathed in searing flame."
Here's my own humble attempt at it:
"úrnya la fírima cambë lertan tur;
ómanya (rína + ië = ?) imi ancalnar."
Quenya seems to have a lot of words for organs and body parts but I can’t find a word for one of the most commonly used in English: stomach. Is there a word for it hidden somewhere?
I need to translate a phrase but there's a word I can't find. The phrase is: Fragile but not weak
Using Tecendil.com and other pages I've come up with these:
"ecuvatye ullumë vanta erinqua" or "tye vávanta erinqua"
I need someone to double check the phrases, which one is gramatically correct (knowing that neither of them will be 100% correct) or if you have any suggestions on how the phrase should be written that would be much appreciated ;)
She received an excerpt from a letter in Quenya from the guy she likes, we had no success with the translations... can you help?
I absolutely love Quenya and Sindarin, I’m aware that speaking them fluently isn’t possible, but I’d love to start learning them anyway. I have 2 books, one with exercises and one dictionary, I started in 2019 but still struggle, any advice?
Me gustaría tatuarme una frase pero no encuentro la traducción de una palabra al quenya. Sería: Frágil pero no débil. Gracias!
Hi, I need an help to translate a name in Quenya. Is a Quenya's name for an elf and I choose the words "gold-star" or something like "silver-star" or "wind-song". Thankyou for helping
Hey y'all, really simple one. I decided it'd be fun to try and learn the language and I'm confused about the word for bird. Aiwë; I know that 'ë' is just supposed to be pronounced separately so to say, but how do I say aiw?
Hello, I found the Sindarin name "Pelilas", which according to realelvish.net is supposed to mean "Fading Leaf". I tried to cross-reference it with AI, but it says the translation is incorrect.
Anyway, I was trying to translate Pelilas or "fading leaf" into Quenya and came up with "lassë nieri". How can I turn this into a Quenya name (possibly with a female suffix)?
Hi Guys
I need some help if possible.
I am a huge lotr fan and my wife is a huge harry potter fan. We found a middle ground where we would use elvish from lotr world and use her favorite line from potter world and blend it together.
Can someone help translate/convert this :
"After all this time? Always"
Thanks
added an image if anyone can let me know if this is correct?
