PSYC Major Requirements

I'm in my second year at Queens, majoring in psych. I know in order to get into the program during first year, you had to get a certain mark to get automatic acceptance in. Is it like that for upper years, once you're in? Do you still need to consistently be getting A's, or is a 50 a 50? Just stressed... marks aren't as good as I'd like with Stats and other stuff lol...

What academic average got you into Queens Econ?

I understand that the average for all art science course is listed as "low 80s" on their website, but I would imagine that Economics would be on the higher side from that average? I am currently in grade 12 of high school and I am aiming for a 95 average within my English 4U and 5 other 4U/M courses. Should I try to be aiming higher? or would my target be enough. Thank you.

Work study jobs

Does anyone know of any good work study jobs to aim for? If not, any ones I should avoid?

Gonna hopefully do one next semester, as I have the entitlement but I wanted to get a feel for the courseload first.

Thanks!!

Trying to get exempted medically for the semester

So this is my final term, and recently I have got some health complications and mental health problems. I was speaking with my doctor and my family and they think the best thing to do is me moving back home for the term. The thing is that I have one more month left and school work, I was wondering if there is a way for me to get exempted from my classes for the rest of the term, I am still willing to do the class work and non of my courses have exams, it is just they have some presentations and attendance. I have a meeting booked with my advisor for tomorrow to see what I can do but I was just wondering if anyone has been able to do this or if you have heard of anyone doing it.

Any group going to tonightā€™s party at the mansion that I can join?

My friends arenā€™t going and it feels kinda weird walking through the streets alone in costume.

The plan was a bloodborne hunter but my sword is still in watts hall and I havenā€™t got the email yet.

Any group is down to let me join?

Gonna fail Apsc 131 midterm

Hey, first year student in engineering. Iā€™m gonna fail the midterm worth 30%, probably gonna get less than 10%. I didnā€™t study properly and slacked off most of the class.

Started reviewing and realized itā€™s not realistic to even get above 20%.

Hoping to pick up the pace and do well on the final, but even then it doesnā€™t seem likely Iā€™ll pass the course anymore due to the midterm.

Did anyone else bomb the midterm and manage to pass?

Considering just going to class and trying to catch up and keep up, then complete the course in J section. Booked an appointment with advising and just looking for any advice

What to do about a failing course?

Hi, first year here of LifeSci. I am enrolled in 5 courses for the Fall Semester and I am currently failing (or close to failing) one of them (an elective that I chose out of my own will.) I am asking this in regard if you can recover your GPA in later years by retaking the course as I am doing well enough in the other 4 courses (around 85-90 as of midterm) and I just donā€™t want to take the time to study this 5th course. My future plan is still to attempt Med School applications and I know that something like this is detrimental to overall GPA. Please let me know if something like this is possible or if you were in my spot what would you do?

Switching from engineering to arts and science

Hi everyone, Iā€™m a first year in engineering and I have realized that this program is not what I want to do! Iā€™m just wondering if it is possible to switch faculties, and how I would do it/when i would begin the new program. Iā€™ve looked online and I am just a bit confused on transferring so if anyone knows or has experience with this, I would really appreciate the help!

Going to the wrong lecture section?

Iā€™m in first year life sci and all my morning classes are on west campus. For next semester, Iā€™d like to have my lectures on main, but I canā€™t make that change due to having full year courses. What will happen if I go to the wrong lecture sections for 3 of my courses (BIOL 103, CHEM 112B, CISC 151) while being enrolled in the west section?? Any advice would be appreciated.

Halloween

I donā€™t have a lot of friends and Iā€™m a first year so donā€™t really know anyone who would be throwing a house party. So I was wondering what the vibes would be on Halloween. Is there a specific bar everyone is going to Thursday or the weekend or will there be street parties like foco? Thank you

let's be friends!

This is going to sound quite odd but I am genuinely just looking to expand my circle even more, I have a great group of friends but I would love to meet more people (possibly outside of my program)!

I'm in first year Commerce and I live on res! I'm just looking for people to hang out with, go to the library, the ARC or get meals with tbh! I also would love to find more people to go out with on weekend nights as well. It feels like everyone's settled into friend groups after the first month so it's a lot harder to get closer with new people now! Feel free to shoot a dm :) I am very friendly !!
