What’s your favorite fun fact about PVD?
Mine is we have the most of donut shops per capita than anywhere else in the US.
Came across this today and ripped it down. I assume this is the usual white supremacy bullshit?
I just took the R to North Main Mcdonald’s: closed. Pay Lyft to go to Broad St. Mcdonald’s: closed. Does anyone know why this happens so much?
Hii everyone! I recently moved to pvd and would love to go out and explore the city but am unfortunately a bit friendless at the moment. I love books, cats, finding new restaurants, trying out cocktails, comedy, drunk karaoke, board games, and just exploring new places in general. I have a lot of couples around me, so finding people who are also single would be nice. (also why is making friends as an adult one of the hardest things i’ve had to do)
Searched the sub but didn't find any answered this specific question. As the title says, I'd like to see a derm for both medical and cosmetic concerns. I have something that might be rosacea, but would also like to consult about cosmetic anti-aging treatments. Most dermatologist's offices seem to divide between medical and cosmetic.
Has anyone had one consult that covered both? I don't want two consults, but I realize I'd need to go back for any treatments recommended and those are typically done by someone else in the office.
Edit: I think what I probably need is a one-doctor practice rather than a group. The latter will definitely divide the house between Medical and Cosmetic, and the cosmetic side will be staffed by providers who are not doctors, PAs or NPs. I really want to see a medical professional first.
Would someone kindly tell me where I can park with the absolute shortest distance to the IMAX? My gf has fibromyalgia and can't walk too far. We want to go see Interstellar on Sunday.
I have clothes I never wear and gaming systems I never play and would like to give them to those less fortunate
Hi everyone, just as the title says, I'm looking for places around PVD, North PVD and Pawtucket. It can be somewhere with games (bowling, karts, you name it) and food or restaurants nearby. Thanks in advance!
I see they have a show and it’s not far from me but idfk is $20 cover is worth it. What do yall think
Hello! We are looking at changing dance schools and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Providence Ballet School. Our daughter has been doing dance for going on 3 years, she’s very interested in ballet and performing. She’s still young, only 5. Thanks in advance!!
I just feel left out of the blood sacrifice is all.

With the holiday season upon us, I need to shop for gifts. That said, I was wondering if anyone had thoughts on local businesses around town that have their own fun, cute, silly merch! I know I can go to my favorite spots and check their merch out, but now I'm just curious about what else exists.
I'm not necessarily looking for PVD-focused merch like Frog & Toad has (although I love that place) or a souvenir shop, but more like different coffee shops, restaurants, venues, shops, etc., that have unique merch that you like to rep around town! Thanks!!
AI is pushing me out of my current job (yippee!) so I'm returning to my old mistress: the espresso machine. We have a ton of good coffee shops out here, but I'm curious what places our baristas like working, and which ones aren't so great. (Obviously every job has its drawbacks — spilling milk on your shoes is inevitable.) What's your experience?
I've been working with a business owner in Providence to obtain dedicated parking signage for her business. The signage was designed, ordered, and fully paid for in October. The vendor is Precision Graphics in Pawtucket.
At the time of ordering, the owner indicated the signage would be completed and installed within two weeks. It's now December and the business owner is distraught because she's unable to enforce parking. I cannot get a response to my myriad of attempts to contact Precision Graphics. Normally I would just go to another vendor and move on, but for the fully-paid part of this. I'm also unable to show up in person given I don't live anywhere near Rhode Island.
This was not complex signage. Just two posts in the ground, aluminum panel, vinyl graphics. I'm just baffled by this.
Has anyone had similar experiences with this company?

Hi, friends!
My name is Phil Eil and I'm a freelance journalist based in Providence (my hometown). You may remember me from my days as news editor at the Providence Phoenix (RIP), or from things I've written for Boston Globe, Rhode Island Monthly, and other outlets.
Earlier this year, I published my debut book: a true crime story called Prescription for Pain: How a Once-Promising Doctor Became the "Pill Mill Killer." It was covered in the Journal, the Globe, and elsewhere. You may have also heard me interviewed on Last Podcast on the Left.
Tomorrow -- Saturday, December 7 -- I'll be one of four "VIP" authors at the Rhode Island Author Expo, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick. I'll be giving a book talk at 11 a.m., and selling and signing books at a table throughout the day. More info here and via the Warwick Beacon.
I'd love to see you there, if you're interested.
And if you have any questions for me in the mean time -- about journalism, true crime, publishing, Rhode Island (a subject of endless fascination for me), or anything else -- I'm happy to answer here on Reddit!
Every Friday, I send out a list of the weekend events happening in Providence in a newsletter. Sign up for free at pvdcurrent.com/subscribe to stay in the loop! Plus, get a quick dose of positive Providence news every Monday and Wednesday.

Hello! I moved to RI from another state, to start a new life couple months ago. Living in Warwick. I am totally new to this place, and know nobody here. Was wondering if there are any places I could meet good people to make connections with. I googled clubs and some other related stuff, but found almost nothing. I work full time (and taking college classes once per week), therefore, my flexibility does not allow me to attend most of the clubs that I found. Same about volunteering.
Idk if that will help, but little about myself:
23 years old male (prefer to connect with people in the similar age range — not younger than 20 and not older than 30)
Not smoking/drinking (just a heads up about the places where I will never hangout)
Working full time, so, my availability is only on evenings and weekends.
Hiking, fishing, pickelball, drone flying, rollerblading, chess, piano playing, movies discussions, church — everything that I have an interest in and great experience in)))
Open to learn new things.
If you have suggestions, feel free to respond here — i will be very thankful)) If you want to connect — don't hesitate to DM me!
Hello, everyone! My friends and I are very into different cuisines from Eastern Europe, and we wanted to hone our passions in a restaurant specializing in Georgian cuisine while offering various imported products from Eastern Europe at the front. After careful consideration, we decided locating our restaurant in Providence would be best. If anyone knows anything about opening a business in the area regarding commercial real estate firms or whatever licenses we would need, please comment below.
Does anyone currently live there or know anyone that does? I applied for an apartment, and of course after doing so, I am now seeing some not so great reviews of the place. The most recent thread is a year old though, so I am wondering if things have gotten any better? Would appreciate any insight anyone has! I am moving from out of state, so it's been a little tricky to view places so I didn't have tons of options. Thanks!
Story on CNBC about transforming malls into living spaces. The Arcade in Providence is highlighted.
Has anyone seen this show yet? I have but I want to keep my comments until someone speaks up.
Anyone have any information regarding cheapest health insurance for PVD? I don’t really give a shit about coverage since it’s all a scam anyway. Just trying to pay as little as possible, ty!
Anyone have a good suggestion of schools whose outdoor tracks can be used when they aren’t using them? I want to run on them for the flatness since city running has too many ankle rolling threats.
