This is from right over the pawtucket/providence line, but I just left an apartment viewing, and the guy showing ended up telling me he withheld the previous tenants deposit to paint over a few small holes from the previous tenants hanging stuff on the walls, he even said the previous tenants spackled before they left. I ended up telling him he’s not entitled to withhold a deposit for painting, and the wear was so so minimal, that’s the cost of ownership. I told him I’m not interested in renting from a landlord who would do this, and I left. So if this is happening to you, just know that in the tenants bill of rights, the landlord CANNOT withhold a security deposit for painting. And if you think this is your landlord, I will vouch for you if you want to pursue legal action (confirm by messaging me the name of the street, or identifying a nearby landmark)- the landlord could be required to return double the deposit if found to be in violation.
So sick and tired of these entitled jerks
EDIT: I am not an attorney, just a long time renter who has done battle with many crooked entitled landlords
My 20yo son is moving to Providence. He’s autistic, high-functioning, enjoys live music and is always up for different events. He was dying on the vine living in the MA burbs with no real activities to join (since many similar-aged ppl were off in college) He has friends online, but admits that he’s feeling disconnected and at a loss for how to make friends irl
He’s been to a few Scurvy Dog parking lot shows & had a blast. Any suggestions/leads on places or groups that have opportunities for young adults to gather and make connections with no judgement toward neurodivergent populations?
Just when I thought I couldn't loathe RIE more, I filled out the stupid survey they sent me, and when I got to the end, it said, "Unfortunately, you do not qualify for this survey." Then WHY have me fill it out?! I honestly feel like this company spends all of its time figuring out how to make its communications and billing systems even worse than they already are. I truly don't understand how it can be SO bad.
Anyone else see the presidential 757 making multiple low passes in the area? It's an interesting change to the usual air traffic.

Rhode Island FC vs. Louisville City FC: Playoff Showdown Alert!
Alright, Rhode Island, this is BIG. It’s our inaugural season, and guess what? We’re already in the semifinals, playing with house money and one win away from the Eastern Conference Final. This is beyond what any expansion team could dream of, but hey—Rhode Island FC doesn’t play small.
Recap: You’re Watching History
Last week, in our first-ever playoff match, our boys brought the heat and pulled off an epic 3-2 victory over Indy Eleven. JJ Williams lit up the field with his second consecutive hat trick, making playoff history in true RIFC style. From an early PK to a relentless fight in the second half, every moment was a testament to the heart and fire of this squad. With Koke Vegas standing tall with a clutch save in stoppage time, our team held the line down a man for the final 20 minutes. Resilience. Heart. Determination. This team is unstoppable.
Familiar Foes: Facing Louisville City Again
We know Louisville City FC, and they know us. But this season, RIFC proved to be their toughest matchup. Back in May, we battled to a 0-0 draw at home, our defense rock-solid, locking down one of the league's best offenses. Then in June, we took the fight to Lynn Family Stadium and didn’t just win—we made a statement with a 5-2 victory in their house. We became the only team to win on Louisville’s turf this season, leaving no question about our place in this league. Now, LouCity wants revenge, but they’re up against a team with nothing to lose and everything to prove.
What’s At Stake
This isn’t just any game—it’s Rhode Island FC’s shot at glory in our first-ever playoff run! Some may downplay our decisive victory over LouCity at Lynn Family Stadium, pointing out that Louisville was stretched thin, playing their third match in a week against tough teams with key players out and out of position. But make no mistake: Louisville fought hard to rally, and despite their best efforts, they couldn’t stop us from claiming the win. Now, Louisville will bring their A-game, but we’ve proven we can handle the pressure. Lynn Family Stadium may be intimidating, yet our previous win there has given our players a confidence that few other teams share. Rhode Island FC isn’t just here to participate—we’re here to make waves and leave our mark on this league. Let’s show everyone what we’re made of!
Vibe Check: How Are We Feeling, RIFC Faithful? This is it, Rhode Island! Whether you’re traveling to Louisville, watching from home, or joining a watch party, we need all of Rhode Island behind this team. Let’s flood this thread with rally cries, predictions, and playoff excitement. Let’s get loud, let’s get proud, and let’s get ready to make history. The road ahead won’t be easy, but we’ve been waiting for this all season. Let’s ride the Tide into the Eastern Conference Final! #UpTheTide #VamosRhodeIsland #NeverSayDie #LOUvRI #Playoffs

Random question. My plans to bring a bunch of stuff from La Salle bakery to a late morning get together this Saturday aren’t going to work anymore. I need to have the goodies by 6:45, and would be more comfortable if it was a touch earlier. I’m more concerned with it just being good vs Italian/Portuguese/Dominican specific. Thanks for any tips

There's neat stuff happening every day! More here:

The last time this happened in Providence was in 1999, when some pieces from the Uffizi were exhibited here. The connection between the two cities is a Providence native, Joyce Acciaioli Rudge, who was written up in RI Monthly here:

My ipad pro was stolen. I tracked it to the gay bathhouse on weybossett daily for Weeks till the battery died. The staff looked everywhere but it was never recovered… now my laptop needs a $1300 repair to power on…. I need a computing device bigger than my phone…
I qualify for food stamps. I always saw GenMobile giving away phones or $30 for tablets. I am desperate and poor, my new job is a week and a half away so I would like to pick one up the problem is I have not been able to find the people giving them out now that i need one
Anyone know where I can get one or have you seen these reps in your travel today?
Any recommendations where to buy refurbished laptops or ipads that finance?
Thanks
Hi, I live in MA and work here in Providence. For 5 years, I've driven down 146, merged and gotten off the highway at the Atwells Ave. exit. Waze has always told me to make a left off that exit to go downtown to my job.
Today, I saw a no-Left turn sign, higher than normal signs as I came off the ramp.
Has that always been there? Is it one of those, "Everyone ignores the sign" type of situations?
Hi I’m 23f and live in a very red part of texas and decided I need a change. I need a city with good public transportation, low to moderate rent prices and moderate to high minimum wages and I landed on Providence. To paint a picture of where I am now, it’s very difficult to be a woman here. It’s very difficult to express yourself without fear of retaliation or offending someone. I’m looking for an area with all stated above as well as something with plenty of nature and charm. Possibly with nightlife or close by but it’s not very important. Lastly I’d like there to be a decent population of people my age. Where I live now it’s dominated by older people who have moved here for cheaper prices and are infatuated with conservative ideals. Let me know what you think ! (:
Looking for Disability advocacy groups in RI. Does anyone know of any in Providence or surrounding areas?
