A place where propagate-able plants are given a second chance at life

Share your Home Depot, Lowe's, and general floor finds here! If it's less than a full plant, you're going to propagate it, and it didn't come from a curated public plant we'd love to see it!

  • PROPPING 101!!

If you have any questions about what to do with your props regarding stage-by-stage, look no further! It's all in this Google Doc I made!

  • CRESTED PROPS!!

Wondering if your prop is crested? Is your pup looking a little weird with clustered sprouts? Take a peek at this Google Doc and find out!

  • RULE CHANGES!!

**As of 28th of March 2018, we now allow and encourage propagations of plants that are not succulents! Show it all off here! Anything you can propagate goes here.

**As of 1st of November 2019 there will be a minor crackdown on memes and merchandise. Plant merch is cool, but this is a sub for propagation and advice somewhat exclusively. Your fun succulent merch probably works better in /r/succulents or /r/houseplants.

**Please message mods before any competitions or sweepstakes.

Just keep waiting?

These are my first successful props that have grown roots this long. Just keep waiting right? Should I try to bury the roots at all?

Found some very happy spider plants growing wild on my walk route! Took about fifteen pups, left dozens more behind.

Why is it that you have to remove the leave from the point where you want the cutting to grow roots?

My Pilea leaf has roots

I think this is just a single leaf, what's next? Will it grow a stem and more leaves?

Advice for propping a rescued Esqueleto

Hello proppers!

I found this Esqueleto branch at the store and the cashier didn't charge me for it. It has a node so I thought I was in a good place, but then I discovered that the second leaf had a completely rotted third leaf growing within so I cut it out.

What's the best path going forward? Should I cut off both leaves completely and put the node in spagnum or is there a chance that another leaf with grow within the second one?

When it's end of season

When it's the last day of the year at the local theme park that's chock full of beautiful hanging baskets and they're just going to let them freeze and get thrown into a compost heap, you ask nicely and get some clippings. They even offered to pull some out of the trash that they had just pulled from the beds but I wasn't about carrying dirt all day.

Can I propogate basil cuttings after the plant sets seed?

Leaves are still green. Not all branches have seeds, so I could use those.

Can I mail a cutting to South Carolina?

I’ve propagating a houseplant and am wondering if I can mail cuttings to SC? I have read into packaging it, but just read where you may have to label the box in a special way or that some states have strict rules?

how to plant - roots in soil or leaf flat ?

found these surprise leaf babies at the bottom of a big plant! they have roots growing, yes, but weirdly they have tiny fuzzy leaves growing out of their bottoms as well! are those the new plants? if i stick the roots in soil i will bury the new little leaves - which seems wrong. should i just lay the leaf flat on the soil ? will it just grow like that ? thank u!

What do I do with my accidental baby echeveria?

It has roots, it has a pup. Do I plant it in a pot and treat like regular echeveria? Do I add fertilizer? Is it okay to be put under grow lights?
