Are paladins a good single class choice for the player character? Or are they too weak/boring? And for weapons, is warhammer a good choice? Thanks.
Couple mods i found i used a long time ago are not working
I can use console commands to level up incrementally before adding the companions to the party to see what gets added by the auto-level each time but that would be tedious.
Also, there isn't any way to add all the companions to the party right at the start of the game and If I play through to where you recruit each one I will have some levels already under the belt meaning I won't know what order their earlier ability selections come in.
AFAIK there's no mod that allows this.
There is this post where someone has done something similar, however they have picked different subclasses for some of the companions than I would have liked,
They mentioned digging in the game files to find this info without touching the game itself.
I've had a poke around but can't seem to find where these builds would be stored in the game files,
Has anyone else ever successfully found this information or can anyone suggest another way I can retrieve it in game, either through modding or console?
In games like this it can be cool to have enough skills in the party to get through that patch of living twigs or to throw that grappling hook. However it ends up irritating me because I end up just immediately going back and then exploring the way I skipped because I refuse to leave any part of the map in fog of war. I must explore every inch.
Edit - I’d like to note that the game itself tells you “make sure you explore everywhere and everything”
Ran the default sloop, but I really wanted something "better" (by better, I thought more expensive means better), so I got a random big boi payday and bought myself the Dhow. Honestly? I am enjoying the Dhow far more than the sloop. Albeit, I dislike the 2-turns that it takes to, y'know, turn, but sacrifices I guess.
Also, I would like to specify ship types, not any of the special ships or anything like that. Just the types of ships, please!
I’m just curious. I don’t have the game, and will probably pick it up whenever it goes on sale, but I was wondering if it is ever stated whether the wheels broken or not, which faction wins, etc.
This game hits my absolute worst ADHD tendencies. I'm hoping there's a guide or suggested path that I can use to keep me from getting distracted and dropping the game again.
A bit of backstory - I've back both PoE games on their respective crowdfunding platforms, and really enjoyed the first PoE. I restarted there a bunch too, but I at least found a class I really liked (Chanter) and beat the game plus the DLC. I also generally like this genre (I've been BG1/2, and both the recent Pathfinder games, for instance), but PoE 2 is ironically my white whale.
PoE 2 has a lot of ingredients I like, and I really would like to beat it before Avowed releases, but the sprawling nature and lack of a driving plot means that I sink a ton of time into the game until I stop getting dopamine and drop it until I get the bug to try it again in a few years. I've restarted over a dozen times, never gotten past act 1, and never played much over 30 hours.
Also, what's a fun class to actually play? I loved the first PoE's Chanter, but really didn't like the changes they made to the class in 2.
Thanks in advance!
when I finished a battle my MC was dead but still able to slide around the map, which I found funny until she stopped moving. I dont have any campfires to revive her my other characters cant heal her and I cant leave the map until shes revived and can go with everyone. what do I do?
So… judging from the previews of Avowed and by what the gods tell us in PoE2…
In the previews is it mentioned by the people that played Avowed as Well as mentioned in the dialogue in the game that all godlikes have vanished.
They did take to their reserve supply of power and absorbed their godlikes. This means that Tekehu, Pallagina and Vatnir are most likely all dead. Unless the gods made exceptions for important or promising godlikes, of course in which case, Tekehu might still be alive. (Also if there ever is a PoE3 do i imagine that if you played as a godlike the Watcher of Caed Nus was excempt)
But either way… kind of depressing way to get to know that some of our friends died.
I finished the Phylactery's Promise and killed Llengrath and her 2 dragons. After killing the dragons, I got the achievement for killing the sky dragon and adra dragon, which I'm confused by because they're not the sky dragon? Why did I get that?
But did the desktop icon for Pillars of Eternity somehow change to look worse? I remember it being a round grey and gold icon depicting adra pillars. Now it still looks like adra pillars, but they're white on this weird, sickly looking pink-purple square field. It just looks bad.
Since I'm planning on buying PoE 1 soon, I was looking at the classes and subclasses in the game and I just like the idea of the Psion but I wonder if it's fun or just viable gameplay-wise. Any tips for playing the Psion?
I wonder if am I supposed to buy fruit, metal etc in ports and sell them in other ports; is it profitable at all or ar most prices the same?
As Iovara said:
"Better to be on no side at all. Woedica may be the most dangerous of the gods, but make no mistake. Engwith built gods from ideals, and an ideal on its own is a grotesque and vicious thing."
I guess her solution, then, is to be on no god's side, because all gods are "grotesque and vicious".
But why make the gods uphold ideals, if an ideal is grotesque and vicious? The keyword is "on its own". That's the in-game's commentary on "ideals": taking an ideal as far as it can go without context, in a vacuum or without tempering it with other ideals can be dangerous. The gods are just a personification of this lesson; just like Eothas, going with only their way can harm kith. We shouldn't follow just one ideal in a vacuum. All ideals have a specific use. The Engwithians made these ideals for kith. And the gods were based on ideals. So ultimately, the gods were made for kith. And on some level the gods know this. Eothas just as much states it in Deadfire, as he wants the gods to be brought to their "original purpose".
Instead of looking at each god in reductionist ways (i.e. "good god, bad god"), it's more like each god has pros and cons that shape society based on kith's need. And these gods need to be in balance. After all, the gods are based on ideals which each have "pros and cons", and a balanced set of ideals are healthy for any society.
It's just that the gods need to leave kith alone to determine these values for themselves. That's the true problem.
I'm struggling with how to wrap up my POE1 playthrough.
I had intended to go with Berath at the Council of Stars as my character has mostly been rational, stoic, fair, balanced etc
However I do encourage my companions toward "goodness" where I can rather than being totally apathetic.
So for Pallegina's quest I had intended to have her disobey her orders to include Dyrwood in the trade deal.
However if I don't then go on to pledge with Galawain and use the souls to strengthen the Dyrwood, Supposedly Pallegina is exiled and joins the Kind Wayfarers.
I have played Deadfire before with a POE1 import where Pallegina wasn't exiled and she seemed to be a pretty big part of the Valian stuff in Deadfire.
How is this handled if she becomes a Kind Wayfarer? Is her subclass actually different in Deadfire? What's her role in the story if she is no longer an agent for Valia?
So i installed the game after a year and realise lots of the mods are now very far behind, the only mod i installed so far is IE Mod Rewrite which is a remake of the original IE mod
Anyone know if a mod exists that will make all bounties available from the start?
Anyone have suggestions on classes to play/party composition that is most fun, or otherwise how to speed through combat as quickly as possible? Blitzkrieg party? I guess I don't have much option for party members actually cause I know I want all the story characters with me.
Not feeling the combat, but the world has weight and I want to finish the story. I'm coming from DOS2 which to me is the opposite. Combat is fun and engaging, but I don't take the story seriously because the game is so silly.
I read elsewhere someone suggest watching a let's play if you have this problem, so that's my backup plan.
Hard to explain but I mean characters evolving to become things like kings, leaders of guilds, assassins, werewolves, etc?
I want to see my character evolve and their story change them into new titles/roles.
I had this thought today.
If I multiclass, my max focus will be lower than on single class, so I will reach max focus/ascendant faster.
Also, my multiclass can help me deal damage (rogue and pally come to mind), so I will become ascendant EVEN faster!
Sure, I'll have lower level powers to cast, but I won't have to struggle to reach max focus in every fight
So, is Ascendant better with multiclass?
Hello, im trying to get into Poe1 and 2 for the first time, but all the different font sizes are abit of a chore to me.
I upscale for more readable inventory tooltips or journal and i get big dialog box that takes half the screen. Vice versa - i downscale dialogue/combat log text, and all the inv and journal stuff becomes really hard to read. Not to say that the char creation screens have no font increase option at all. Any suggestions?
edit: or something in the game files that you can tweak to fix it
Hey everyone!
Title really says it all. Wiki just says high level ingredient merchants and I need more for potions having used up all I stole.
Thanks!
Hello everyone,
long story short, I have around a 100 hours in this game but never actually finished it because I got super frustrated by the updates (from years ago). I started playing this game pretty much when it came out and for some very unlucky reason all my MC builds were getting completely destroyed with each new update.
The last one I played was centered around Stun-Locking (Lighting), but they updated the game to where my build became completely useless. So I dropped the game for many years, and now after finishing BG3, I decided to give it a go again (but I want to play in Turn-Based).
I cant really find any good builds online that are turn-based and up to date, but I found this one which is a Monk/Wizard (Sage) that focuses on the Spirit Lancer ( https://fextralife.com/pillars-of-eternity-2-deadfire-builds-guide-sage/ ).
My question is; is this still a good build for Turn-Base?
Also,
What should my starting attributes be since I know Dex is kinda useless in Turn Based.
And should I choose the Blood-Mage subclass for health and skill recovery?
Any advice would be great!
Thank you!
TLDR: I really want to like this game, but I'm unsure if I can stomach some of the content. Does it get worse in Act 2?
Hiya folks. Just to give some context, POE1 is my first Obsidian game, having just gotten into CRPGs because of BG3. I've since played Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous. DOS2 is on my list too.
I started playing POE1 a couple of days ago after trying to get into Deadfire. I kind of abandoned that play through of Deadfire because I didn't understand half of what was happening; my bad for not realising the sequel was closely related to the first game.
Right off the bat, I could see why players raved about the writing and world building. The grittiness and the sense of desperation because of the Hollowborn crisis is palpable. I wasn't prepared for some of the events in Act 1 though:
I don't think the writers had any ill intent, but seeing so many instances of this very specific type of violence towards female characters in the game gave me pause. I'm now wondering if I can even complete it (and by extension, Deadfire). So tell me, does it get worse in Act 2?
I'm very grateful that we've moved on from this sort of writing/characterisation as a whole, in at least the CRPGs I've played.
If you have other CRPG recommendations, I'd love to hear them too!
Would it be hard to play it without companions, even on the easiest difficulty, or it offers no real challenge at all, as the name suggests?
Tried googling to no avail, but is there a way (on switch so no mods or console commands) to unlock the other 2 quick item slots?
