I'm playing on hard, and my party is at levels 18-19.
Every fight feels like my party isn't dealing enough damage, and they seem to take longer than usual because of that, I guess. For every fight so far, I've had to try multiple times. This dlc has been really hard for me.
Take the fight with the nightmare shades, for example. To kill them, I had to use Maia to aggro them, dodging constantly to keep them distracted lol, while the rest of my party focused on the vulnerable one.
Is this dlc supposed to be this hard, or am I playing it wrong?
I just noticed while fighting the various fire nagas of the archipelago, that most of them (or rather, all, save for the named individuals) are either completely non-resistant to fire or have negligible resistance. I always tried to avoid dealing fire damage to them, assuming that they would be insanely resistant, but then noticed the big 'ol 0 in the corner for their statistics and was pretty surprised. Can't find anything that would imply the reason for that in the bestiary tho.
Edit: Okay, them healing from fire damage actually makes sense.
I have the complete edition but I’d like to beat the game before I do the dlc so what missions do I avoid?
So, long story short, I finally decided to travel to the Ashen Maw when a storm came out of nowhere and began wrecking our ship. First Xoti gave a prayer, then the crew started getting thrown from one end of the ship to the other, and then suddenly, out of freaking nowhere, Maia...returns to the party?!
We're in the middle of nowhere, in a storm, on a nearly sunken ship. What did she, paddle over here XD?
This has bothered me for years. Who the heck is his voice actor and why do they sound like Niel deGrasse Tyson? Unless it actually IS NdGT.
What the title says I finished Pillars Of Eternity one on console on Xbox Series X does import option not exist for console version
I'm nearing the end of the game, there's the last quest i gotta pick up that will put me fairly in one or the other's factions pocket. I roleplay a Pale Elf that has emigrated from Rautai into the Dyrwood right at the cusp of the Hollowborn crisis. The reason for that emigration was general disapointment with how the Old Empire (Rautai) was governed.
Now, i grew to love Maia in combat. Not in a romantic relationship with her (that place is always took by Xoti who really plays the right strings no matter what i try to do or roleplay, and Maia took quiteeeee a while to try to come closer to me) but in combat Maia is an absolute monster, especially with the Red Hand, Blightheart and double Blunderbusses in rotation.
I would like to keep her in the party, but the only way i know how to do that is to either stand with RDC (which i'm not a particular fan of, as this character) or to use the "Exploit" when i tell RCD to go fuck themselves when they as me to kill the Queen - she won't talk to me this way but will still be in the party. However i do not know how that'll influence my relationships with the VTC which i want to use to get to Ukaizo this playthrough (making sure to destroy their perspectives with the Slave Hunters beforehand, as, afaik, this will not turn them hostile, but rather slightly annoyed with me).
Should i not care and just hire another ranger in Maia's place? They won't be as good with firearms as she is, since she's a unique subclass, but with particular buffs it shouldn't be such an issue, am i right?
Hello, I'm a veteran gamer who loves min-maxing builds, mainly for fun and personal satisfaction, but I also enjoy a good challenge that comes from 100% achivement unlock. This time I plan to play on PoTD Expert. For my Cipher, I initially thought of going with 12/4/20/18/20/3 stats, but I worry this might not turn out well.
My idea was to make a Death Godlike Cipher with a bow, but I'm wondering if this setup will let me fully enjoy my run. I really want to finish the game this time, as I last stopped at Citadel. I’ve noticed Elf also has some cool bonuses, so my question to you all is: what’s the best setup for a Cipher to ensure a smooth run, max DPS potential, and pure fun? Any alternatives that guarantee success? Maybe I should choose something else than Cipher?
edit: I talk here about Pillars of Eternity 1, sorry for the confusion
OK so I'm working my way through Poe1. And let me start by saying Wow this game is amazing! It took me by the hand and stole 60hr of my life in no time at all. But that being said I'm finding myself bored at the end of act 2 starting white march part 1.
The story up to now has had me going forward losing hours of my life without a second thought. I was just finishing up act 2 getting ready to move on and read somewhere I should check out white march part 1 and 2 before moving on. But now I'm bored out of my mind doing this dlc and not sure if I should skip it. I just got to the Durgan's Battery area of WM1 and stopped playing.
Should I push through the dlc or just go back and finish Act2 and move on with the main story? Does the dlc get better? Story wise that is, it just seems a bit dull and side questie.
I tried to strike a balance between doing damage and triggering offensive parry but I'm not sure it's working that well. Wondering how other people make use of it. I find that triggering the parry is tricky because it's hard to get deflection high enough for enemies to miss:
If I use savage attack to increase damage it can be tough to hit or crit:
As a comparison, Eder with mob stance and dual wielding (and not really focused on doing damage) does plenty without all the setup honestly:
I thought monk/mage would make decent use of WotEP and perhaps I'm missing something further?
A while ago i was wondering about builds and what to do with the items that could compliment them, and i think i have the answer - sidekicks. Not only the ones you get from the world, like Fassina or Konstanten, but just plain old hirelings - And throw them into the Seeker, Slayer, Survivor arena. This way i'll get my fair share of fun from all of the builds i'd like to try (Blackjacket Ranger, here i come) but also don't have to look at all of the items that are just not that optimal for my main party rotting away in the chest.
I completed the quest with Maerwald, became the Master of Caed Nua and started building the main keep, then returned to Kolsc / Lord Raedric quest. During the quest, a message appeared that the main keep construction was completed and that a Glanfathan Soul hunter had arrived at Stronghold "seeking for employment". At that time, I was in the sewers of Lord Raedric's castle, and immediately went to Stronghold. The road took 1 day and 4 hours, and a message appeared that Soul Hunter left after being in Stronghold for 22 hours (according to Stronghold's log).
In this regard, questions:
Could I hire Soul Hunter to guard Stronghold and / or in my party, or is this just an immersive event or maybe she got on her some another interaction?
Is there any way to interact with visitors without being present physically in Stronghold? The spirit in the statue (steward) said that I can give commands from anywhere.
If I leave someone in the castle (there is a Party Management option in the Stronghold menu), will they be able to interact with visitors? If so, should it be a story companion or can mercenaries do?
There are "turns" in Stronghold log. What do they depend on, progress with quests (receiving, updating, completing) or in-game time? As I see it, constructions are built according to in-game time, but in the log, the completion of the main keep coincided with the appearance of a Soul Hunter in Stronghold. And how are the "turns" of Stronghold related to events like the appearance of visitors?
Thanks.
So I've just finished Deadfire and I hate the ending I got for Aloth and my watcher. I had no idea that helping him stop blaming himself for everything would result in him leaving my watcher to continue on his quest to destroy the Leaden Key and now I'm heartbroken (and yes I know he's just pixels on a screen but I love that elf and I'm a hopeless romantic). The thing is, I've tried to go back to pre-endgame and use console commands to cheat his quest stage in hopes I can change that ending, but I couldn't find any cheats to set quest stage. Is there a way for me to do that? Because I don't think I have any save file from before the conclusion of his quest that won't take too far back.
I just got this armor and it's supposed to give deletrious clarity of motion skill to it's equipped user, but it doesn't show up in their skills? Is this a bug or something, anyway to resolve? I've had it on fro awhile and fought a few battles, rested and restarted game, still won't show up.
I started POE2 a week or two ago, absolutely loving it (but it's will never top poe1 hehe) and I have two questions.
thanks
I'm playing for the first time Deadfire (I have played it before, but I barely did anything before quitting). I have recruited my first sidekick in The Wild Mare, and I'm not sure what to think about it.
As far as I understand it, they are basically companions with less content. The main reason I'm playing this is the content, the plot, the dialogue, the quests... I don't care too much about the combat.
Before I found this guy, I was planning to try each one of my companions. Maybe I would have always Eder and Aloth, like I did in PoE 1, and then change the rest of companions depending of the quest, to try to get as much content as possible from all them, but I'm not sure now. I have a limited party, limited quests/dialogue/etc., and a LOT of companions.
Should I simply ignore the sidekicks and focus on the main companions (at least in this first playthought)? Would I be missing something if I do it like this? I feel like it makes sense that, if I can use only some of them, I will use the most important ones.
I just found One Dozen Stood - and armour that is pretty much made to farm disengagement attacks. I'm wondering if there's a point of using it, since there aren't that many abilities that make enemies break engagement (i read that ust putting your tank in it way in front of other party members will be a good idea for it, and i will try that) apart from Ryngrim's spells that make enemies terrified.
I plan on testing it on Eder. Currently he's using Reckless Brigandine, which together with two weapon fighting style and the Mob Stance seem to mitigate the increased recovery from using Windmill Slash (penetration is very important in Beast of Winter, i've learned it the hard way). Since disengagement attacks are, one - free actions as well as actions with no recovery time, i wonder if exchanging the in-combat recovery boost from Reckless Brigandine for the free disengagement attacks would be worth it. Did anyone tried it out?
Really simple question but does the unity console mod on nexus disable achievements?
My MC during combat has been going from 3/4 HP, sometimes full, to just exploding completely and being downed. I am trying to figure out where it comes from. It says he is hitting himself and it's always for a couple hundred damage, which knocks him out. I can't figure out why. MC is a fighter. Combat log is pretty good and then it's just "Hits himself for 9000" and he's out...
He has a ring that does crush AOE damage when he is critically hit, Ngati's Girdle. Maybe that?
I am also suffering from another thing where my weapon, Saru-Sichr (Morningstar with poison DOT) is stacking on the MC. It doesn't indicate, to me, that it should be poisoning my MC - but by the middle of combat he has 20 stacks on him and the DOT really starts to hurt. Is this by intention?
There is nothing I can see concerning talents or otherwise which should have my MC exploding. I've looked and looked more, with no dice.
Edit:
Damage to self? Reprisal? https://imgur.com/a/Y78Bekx
I usually wait to find them for the quests but in poe1 I remember I really liked the Druid because I could use his werewolf form as an extra tanky character to take dmg. I’m lvl 6 or so, so I am wondering will he start at lvl 1? Is it worth it now? I really want to try different companion types as my monk character (the pirate lady) is growing on me and I avoided all but my party in poe1.
I'm playing on the PotD difficulty, and i'm pretty sure i had before, although it was years ago, so some things may have been patched/buffed. I specifically waited a bit longer to start that DLC, doing basically every faction and side quest i could (or was allowed to do by the game) before i'll start the "He Waits in Fire". I went in there with my party being levels 15 and 14 in some cases. Had to wait out Neriscyrlas for good 5 minutes while the Gouging Strike did it's job (shoutout to Eder, you're the best).
Finally went into the Vydmath - Almost got my ass handed to me by the first two enemies - The Plague and the Soul Collector. Then i went into the Evon Dewr - and now i'm stuck on the first fight of the area, with the burning soldiers.
And i love it. I like to think that i'm a PoE Veteran, having completed both PoE and Deadfire multiple times in the past - to the point i had to put the games down for years to be able to enjoy them again. Now that i'm back in, i found that most enemies, even on PotD difficulty - are fairly balanced to deal with, if you know your stuff - even without using much of the consumables (apart from the healing potions maybe).
But BoW had me cour through scrolls of heals, buffs and overall damage like crazy. In BoW i will absolutely take that +5 buff to accuracy, or +2 to Athletics (to boost healing from the Second Wind). I love that the game is finally making me use all of the stuff i either found, stolen, or created when i had an overabundance of money on my hands.
Hey there,
I really like the menu background you have in Pillars of Eternity 1 that shows the White March. But I can't find any good high-resolution versions of it without the menu. Can someone help me out? Thx in advance :)
Hey all,
I have been experimenting with a.i., but so far I have been unsuccessful. I want to make my inquisitor open combat with flames of devotion ranged attack, then switch to a melee weapon and soul annihilation at will. Then switch back to the ranged weapon at end of combat.
I have tried making statements about enemies in melee range, but then my dude will only switch to melee if approached.
Thanks in advance
So its my first time playing this game and I was wondering for the achievement super murder do the 1200 kills need to come from just the MC or does combined kills from the whole team count? Also is it possible to get this achievement on easy or does the difficulty have to be normal or higher?
Halloween is coming up, and I want to play a similarly-themed witch. Lots of Decay/Corrosion and other DoTs and maybe some skeletons to top it all off. How survivable is a Loremaster, though? It seems like it would take a long time to cast and chant at the same time. Anybody tried this before?
Just stated this game put 12h on my charecter and now i relise my affinity aint moving:)))) Cant find a solution no where people just talking about the bug but no fix. Any ideas?
