What is your 4K 10bit 4:2:2 workflow?

Hey editors,

I´ve just had my first experience with 4K 10bit video, so of course I made proxies (prores 422 proxy -480p) and it works great, BUT once I had to render out some time warps, keyframes, etc. it starts using the original, hard-to-edit files, and any small edit deletes all the render.

So even having a rendered (timeline green) clip and CUTTING it in the middle deletes the render (timeline red).

This makes it really hard to do anything other than basic cutting, so I probably have my settings wrong.

What is your 10bit workflow guys?

How do i make a smooth speed ramp?

Some of my projects includes drones and they’re quite shaky and it’s very noticeable whenever i add speed ramp. I can’t add warp stabilizer because i’m using proxies and I’m afraid it might ruin the proxies. Is there any way to fix this?

Can i increase the aspect ration with a blurred background behind ?

I have a huge projector screen set up at work, and its aspect ratio is 5760x1200. I want to be able to take usual video footage, films, etc., and use the whole screen without cropping content, but also make use of the full screen. Is there a plugin or a way of having the original content in the center but having the background around it blurred and moving with the content from the original video, sort of like when people have colored lights behind their TV that are mimicking the sound and color from the TV?

Is there any way to tell how the audio will sound on smartphones?

Every time I edit on premiere the audio sounds decent, then when I export the video and listen to it on smartphones it's completely different. I record gameplays and have two separate tracks, one for the game and one for the OST, I keep between -15 and -18 db for the voice and -25/-30 for the game.

Hi guys. I am having trouble on exporting my video because of the glitches it gets after export. I did color grading on premiere and somehow I think that is the reason for this problem. Do you have any suggestions, or similar experiences? I am editing on imac 2019, 24gb memory, Radeon Pro 570X 4gb

Does anyone know how to unsync between scenes?

What you see here is actually a slideshow template, the problem is that I want it to be longer, and when I duplicate a scene with a picture and put a new picture, it also changes that in the previous scene

Need help with cs6

Hey guys, I'm stuck using CS6, I'm a beginner and the thing is frustrating the living daylights out of me. I want to make a vertical video using images. The images are of high quality, even after rendering they still show up blurry in CS6. I've tried to fix this issue by choosing different sequence presets, resizing the original jpeg files, nothing worked. These images include text so they can not be blurry. Please help. I'll post some screenshots in the comments

Premiere makes my GIF loop with a little pause

I don't know why but when I put the campfire GIF on Premiere Pro 2024 suddenly it doesn't loop well either in the preview and the rendered GIF. Before that there's no problem, the loop is smooth, but when I put any loop GIF in Premiere the same happens. Any suggestion? :/

GIF before I put in Premiere: gyazo.com/3c3c682eabfe1beff74c63b9bc517ccf

GIF I want to loop smoothly:

Audio Track Mixer and Track Fx Editor out of sync… (bug?)

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue: I use the Audio Track Mixer to apply effects to audio clips, then use the Track Fx Editor to tweak parameters. Often I'll toggle the effect on/off via the power button icon in the upper left of the Track Fx Editor to hear how my tweaks sound. However, after updating to 24.2.1 (Build 2), I've found that the Track Fx (TFX) on/off button and the on/off button on the Audio Track Mixer (ATM) are now out if sync. Turning an effect on/off via the ATM works as expected, controlling the on/off button on both ATM and TFX. However, using the on/off control via the TFX puts the on/off buttons on the ATM and TFX out of sync. This is wreaking havoc on my workflow as I now have to work within BOTH windows to hear the effects of parameter adjustments. This happens with both built-in effects and 3rd party plugins. Happens within my current projects (started pre 24.2.1) as well as any newly created projects. Anybody else experiencing this?

Zoom cancels my slow mo

Working on an edit.

I put my clips to 50% speed with optical flow because slow motion looks the best for my videos, then go to add zooms in effect controls. Key frame at start, key frame at end and change scale.

When I add the zooms, it cancels the optical flow slowmo and it gets all ugly.

I was wondering why that is and what to do about it.

The last video I made I used both and I do remember it being a hassle to get rid of but I forgot what I did. I know I nested some clips but that was mainly for my adjustment layer to get slapped on top, but I figure that’s where the fix is.

Thanks!

Wondering if it is possible to loop the key frame changes on a video file

Hello, I am currently working on a solo video project, and I want one of my assets to fade in and out a certain interval. I'm wondering if this is possible to automate or if I'll have to put in some extra effort and make a crap ton of keyframes.

Thanks in advance.

premiere audio and video out of sync on multiple existing project files

I've been working on a few video projects for a client of mine and waiting for their approval on subtitle revisions. I sent them the last revisions 2 weeks ago ONLY making revisions to the subtitles because it was at picture lock. When I opened up Adobe Project A today, the video was out of sync with the audio. The audio is syncing up with the subtitles, but the video is not syncing with the audio. I know the last edit I made was just a subtitle revision, so I checked all of the videos throughout the timeline and they're all a few seconds lagging from the audio. I decided to open up another Adobe Project File B with this same client and weirdly that one was also out of sync. I decided to open up another Adobe Project C that isn't the same client, and the audio/video is also out of sync!! and for sure I haven't touched that last Adobe Project File C since last year knowing that everything was exported properly.

Here are the attempts I made to resolve this with none of them working:

  1. restarted adobe premiere
  2. Uninstalled Adobe Premiere 24.2.1 and installed an older Adobe Premiere 24.1
  3. rendered the timeline so playback speed runs smoothly
  4. adjusted playback resolution to 1/4 and 1/2
  5. opened the project files on Adobe Premiere using Beta
  6. opened up past files that I know I haven't touched in a while and they are also out of sync
  7. checked my sequence settings to make sure the timeline was in the right frames per rate

Anybody else experiencing this??? Any alternative solutions??? I really don't want to resync everything again and hoping this is just a weird big bug that can be fixed. PLEASE HELP!

Need Help!! Premiere Pro 2024/2023 crashes and restarts Macbook Pro M1

Hey y'all. Has anyone experienced Premiere crashing and just restarting your whole computer? I am working on a 14" Macbook Pro M1 32gb with MacOS Ventura 13.0.

I am an audio engineer and am not too savvy with video, but I am not overloading Premiere with tons of things. On this specific project it's just two 4k videos and a couple audio tracks on the timeline and Premiere will just crash and restart my computer after working for maybe a couple of minutes. I was able to edit and work on a few other videos without problems, but now any project I start this keeps happening. I have loaded this project onto my 2015 Macbook Pro with an older version of Premiere and it does not crash. Any ideas on what my issue could be? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, tried Premiere 2023 as well, and cleared cache. Thanks for your help.

Creating a silent opening title while keeping audio synced with video

I'm VERY new to Premiere and im working on editing a short video for a school project. I wanted to create a really simple opening title screen with the title of the video, my name, etc. but when I went to ad in the "Basic Title" template it completely screwed up the audio-video "in" points. i.e, the video starts at 00:00:05:00 after the title card (which is what I want) but the audio starts at 00:00:00:00 (when i wanted the short intro to be silent), now the audio and video are out of sinc. I tried to resinc them (even moving the title to a different track) but it was just grayed out. I've tried a bunch of other stuff and scoured YouTube for answers with no success. I've already put a fair amount of work into cutting this video down and REALLY do not want to loose that time.

Massive thanks to anyone who can help me out!

Animated Captions on Premiere

Hi everybody!

I'm a fairly new editor (just started about last month as a fun little side hobby).

I'm curious to ask some experienced editors how they do animated captions? I've explored a ton of different ways, and each one seems to have it's own little problem or kinks that kinda just bother me.

For example, animating captions myself takes FOREVER, but the bonus is I get complete control over everything.

But using a third-party program, like AutoCut or CapCut saves me literal hours of time, but removes a ton of control over my captions.

Just curious to get some more experienced editors thoughts. What is your all preferred methods for animating captions?

TLDR; I'm a new editor looking for more effiecent/better ways to animate my captions besides sitting there for hours putting keyframes on text, if that exists.

Corner Pin Problems

I added a couple of scribble art graphics to these clips, but when I used the corner pin effect on them, they seem to have problems. For the first clip, it leaves an unwanted shadow behind it. On the second clip I wanted to use a mask for the guy skateboarding across the screen, so that the graphic would be behind him. When I pulled the mask in front of the graphic, it cuts off that part of the graphic for the entire clip, even without the mask being over it. I thought this would be one of those things where the preview clips show something different than the fully exported version. But even when I export these clips you can still see the shadow and the cut off graphic. Any help with this would be appreciated.

https://reddit.com/link/1bok1ko/video/49jaxtbb0rqc1/player

As you can see, the mask is not even covering the image, and yet it seems to get cut off the entirety of the clip

Extra program view for vertical

Hey friends,

I'm editting a multicam video from a music show. I know we'll probably want to post a few things to instagram reels as well, does anyone know if I can get like a second program view set to crop for vertical? This could save me some time by choosing clips that will work better for both formats. (Ofcourse I know it isn't a fix all but it could maybe save me some time)

Thanks!

Adobe Stock for Sold Content

I have an adobe stock subscription, and was looking to use some music in a video I am working on for a client.
Obviously I have a licence to use the audio, however once I complete the work and sell it to the customer, do they have the rights or do they need to get a licence somehow?
I am imagining that they post the video to Youtube.

Overly technical, potentially useless: Why can't PP purge its cache without restarting, similar to AE?

This is probably ridiculous, but I was wondering why Premiere needs to restart after purging the media cache (full purge). I'm severely ADHD, and any halt in my work or pauses that feel unnecessary leave me feeling disgruntled and peeved (personal issue, not that big a deal, this is just context and I'm not looking for medical solutions). As I was clearing my cache in AE (for the millionth time) and sipping my stale cup of coffee, it suddenly occurred to me that I had never noticed the level of convenience AE provides by simply purging and staying open. I've used both programs for years and I had never noticed it until now, and I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.

Why is a restart necessary for Premiere Pro? Is there a difference in how both programs store the cache or write cache files that allows for AE to dump without a restart? Did Premiere miss out on a quality of life update years back and it was just forgotten amongst the ever growing list of new bugs that come from the non-stop updates that Adobe releases? Does my lack of understanding about this point to a gap in my education that I need to fix ASAP?

This isn't super critical, and I realize that I might just be nitpicking, but I'm super curious and would love to learn something new if I have the chance. Thanks in advance!

How to smart render with AE comps?

Hey everyone, I’m trying to render a project via smart rendering, and am struggling because my project has a lot of AE comps. The sequences are in ProRes 422 and after I finished each AE comp, I right clicked and hit “render and replace”, and those were set to match the sequence settings so those should also be 422. The issue is that I’m now trying to export in ProRes 422, matching the sequence, but the export is still taking a long time.

I’m getting the feeling that smart rendering isn’t working on the AE comps, which is making things take a while, anyone know how to fix this? (For context, a 6 minute timeline is taking an hour to render.)

Remove backgrounds inside of premiere pro in seconds

I made this extension Vanish BG that removes backgrounds from images using AI right on the timeline with lossless quality in seconds. No need to search for images without backgrounds or use a website that charge up to $0.23 per image like removebg. Here is the demo and by link.

First 10 people to get it from r/premiere will get it for free using " R-PREMIERE10" promo code and after that you can use "R-PREMIERE50" to get 50% off.

Adobe Premiere Pro HELP

I’ve never posted here before but have always gotten really useful information from Reddit threads. I’ve been working on a film in Adobe Premiere Pro and am finally almost finished with it but recently ran into some problems with glitchy playback during some scenes and then when I tried to export to see if the glitches show up in my exported file it didn’t export properly. I set it to export as an MP4 and even though Premiere told me it was exporting as an MP4 it exported as an M4V file and an audio file. Both my Windows and Mac laptops were unable to open the M4V and audio files.

So after trying a bunch of YouTube videos I finally called Adobe Support yesterday and talked to them for hours. The glitches still aren’t fixed and I had to send them my movie file so they can try to fix it on their end. After getting off the phone with Adobe support I noticed that some of my files were not showing up the way they should and when I clicked on them my computer said they couldn’t be opened and I also couldn’t drag them into Premiere. When I was screen sharing with Adobe support they deleted my media cache. After getting off the phone with Adobe support I plugged in my backup external hard drive to make sure my footage was at least saved somewhere and to my dismay encountered the same issue. I don’t know how it’s possible for the files to also be having issues on an external hard drive that wasn’t even plugged in when I was talking to Adobe support.

I realized that the deleted files might still be in my recycling bin so I went to try to restore some of the folders and it came up with that notice that says some of the files are the same would you like to replace them or skip them. I thought that if that came up I would also have the option to save both but since that wasn’t there I canceled it. Sometimes I’ve noticed that I have two files that are completely different but they have the same name for some reason so now I don’t know what to do in order to save everything and get everything back. I didn’t know that talking to Adobe support was going to be such a hassle, since support is in the name, but I feel very unsupported by Adobe

I hope this all makes sense. I’ve barely gotten any sleep. Can anyone help me with the glitchy playback, export issue, and file recovery?
