Obviously, I'm sure there are concrete answers for Generation 1, but I'm curious to know the answers for the other Generations past Generation 4.
When I talk about representative Pokemon of each Generation, I am referring to those Pokemon that serve as an identity or that make you think directly of the Generation where they debuted. They are not necessarily the most popular or memorable Pokemon, but Pokemon that left their mark on their Generation for some reason or another in the fanbase.
Favorite example: Garbodor. It may not be the most popular or loved Pokemon by people, but Garbodor became a kind of symbol or something that you always remember when you talk about Generation 5.
So, according to you... What are the first seven Pokemon that are the most representative of each Generation?
Legendaries are sometimes the only reason people play Pokémon games, most of them have signatures moves, some don't *cough* mew *cough* But I've noticed a pattern. Most legendary moves can be summed up into these three categories.
Legendary moves that use lasers, examples are, Moongeist beam, Core enforcer, Techno blast, Etc.
Moves that just explode, examples are, Behemoth Bash, Dragon energy (could be lasers but it has a sick explosion scene) etc.
Moves that could just be strong moves that are legendary moves, examples are, Precipice blades, Relic song, Searing shot, Lands wrath, etc.
IS this just me or is Pokémon getting a little lazy with legendary moves?
Hi guys, seeing how recently someone posted about his/her pokemon team for gen 3 i’d like to do the same as well!
Been playing since the 2000s, and gen 3 was my first intro to the franchise so every now and again i’ll play thru emerald thus my current run.
Apart from the starter, gardevoir, breloom and aggron every other mon can be replaced but i’m not sure on who them with (prob flygon and glalie but i can’t decide). Just wanna ask around for opinions on what u’ld do in my situation. Thanks! :)
I need an application or a platform that has every kind of card in its own language (like cardmarket) and where I can also choose the price of the card or get it form another site. It should also be cross-platform. What do you guys use to catalogue your cards?
Hello!
My name is Joe and I run the popular online game, PokeDoku! For those who don’t know, PokeDoku is a daily free-to-play web browser Pokemon Trivia game. The game takes place behind a 3x3 grid. There are three categories per row and three categories per column making all 9 squares of the grid have different category pairings. Our categories stem anywhere from Pokemon Types to Pokemon Regions to how the Pokemon evolve and everything in between. For example, if the categories matching a square say Fire & Fighting, a valid answer would be Blaziken. If you have never checked out our game and you love Pokemon, then use this as your chance to give it a shot!
For those who do know PokeDoku, we have recently released Unlimited Mode! This has been a game mode fans have been suggesting since the very start of PokeDoku and it is finally here. We wanted to make it is much more than what fans were expecting. Let’s dive into how it works. To start off we have a filter system where you have the option to turn off categories you may not like! Say you didn’t play Scarlet/Violet, no big deal, just switch Paldea off and play away! I know we have some Pokemon Masters who think PokeDoku is too easy! Well, we have a solution for you too. You have the option to allow the puzzle generator to make squares with only one valid answer and you even have the option to turn the soft lock guard off! Lastly, we added a timer so you can try to speed run your way through our puzzles. We worked super hard on this game mode and wanted it to be a blast for every kind of Pokemon fan from casual to expert.
For those who have played in the past and haven’t played in months, we have added more than just Unlimited Mode! We have Archive Mode where you can play past puzzles from up to two weeks. We have also added a PokeDex feature where every guess you log in our daily puzzles unlocks that new Pokemon in your PokeDex.
If you love Pokemon, we guarantee you will love our game too! Feel free to leave questions/suggestions/feedback in the comment section down below :)
You can find our game at pokedoku.com
You can find our Twitter and Instagram at poke_doku_
We even have a subreddit you can join, r/PokeDoku
It's a Legends game, so like Legends Arceus, it probably happens in the past.
But the trailer ad for the games seems kinds of futuristic. So it may happen in the future too.
And for Scarlet and Violet, which thematic are Prehistory and robotic future being sandwiched between the too Legends games makes sense.
But I would bet it can happen to a XIXth century like Paris.
"A period of redevelopment into a city" excerpt from this tweet sends me strong "Violet-Le-Duc".
Eugène Violet-Le-Duc is an architect who modernized Paris in the third quarter of the XIXth century.
Maybe the trailer looks futuristic because it would happen right at the time of Paris having electricity.
Heck, the Eiffel Tower was build during the late XIXth century.
The only one city, if I understand that correctly, send also strong Asterix vibes. And it would make sense to have Asterix inspiration in a region based in France.
Perhaps, instead of a druid, it would be a Pokemon breeder or whatnot, who instead of making a magic potion, is cooking Max Revive to resist the Pokémon attacks of other city-states and the plot or part of the plot revovle about the lack of Revival Herb to prepare them, because the ennemy is using it too much to cook a counter-magic potion : the Full restore
I completely skipped out on playing through the gen 7 games (SM/USUM) when they came out for some reason and now I want to finally play through one of them. However, there seems to be a debate between which would be better to play if i'm only planning on playing through once. Any advice on which to pick?
I have been playing Pokemon Crystal a lot lately and have even beaten the champion, Lance. I think the game still holds up today and I wanted to share my opinion about it. The radio and phone number aspect of the game was genius, and I wonder why they didn't keep it in later versions. The gameplay was very hard but entertaining. However, at some points, I had to grind (like in the Elite Four and against the champion). I also had to use up all the money the main player character's mom saved to buy many revives and full restores to keep Suicune going (he was the only one left by the end of the battle). He was extremely underpowered (level 42), but he beat Lance's Charizard in just two hits. Suicune also managed to beat Lance's level 50 Dragonite with Aurora Beam. The most frustrating part was the ghost gym where Haunter/Gengar kept spamming hypnosis and Dream Eater, which wiped out my Pokemon entirely. The story about Team Rocket was simple, but they did a great job with it. The idea of them interrupting the radio transmission for their advantage seems like a great storyline. It doesn't go overboard like in other versions (such as Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon). In conclusion, Pokemon Crystal is a very polished game and is still fantastic today, even though it was made in 2001. Update: Forgot to mention that you have Kanto in the postgame (After beating the champion). This basically seperates it from any other pokemon games as you can't visit different regions in the other iterations. This overall makes it the superior version to play.
Apparently in my years of playing Emerald, all I caught were magikarps with the old rod. And it turns out that in emerald, if you go to dewford town and fish using the old rod, you can get a tentacool. And I'm just learning this now. This would have changed a lot of things if I had known about this earlier...
Thoughts?
My husband gave me 3 full art pikachu cards for my birhday last year after hearing i enjoyed watching pokemon and playing gold on my gameboy as a kid. A year later i have 3 complete sets and just bought my first graded card signed by veronica taylor. Its also really brought us together and now we can enjoy comic expos together ❤️ he actually pointed this card out. I almost cried with happiness when i walked away with it in my hands.
What got you into collecting? Or have you been collecting since you were a kid? Are you a serial ripper or do you have a limit and then buy cards to fill your binders?
What is your favourite Pokemon game?
I'm going in for knee surgery in a couple of weeks, so I thought it would be the perfect time to get back into the Pokemon games (I played as a kid 15/20 years ago). But there are so many games now I don't know which one to start with. So I thought it'd be helpful to see what people's favourites are and start there.
Edit: I've got access to a Gameboy Colour, a DS and a Switch.
I've seriously never thought about this before, but aside from movie 14 and 23, I believe that Klang had never made its proper debut in the anime whereas Klink and Klinklang had, right?
Unlike the Porygon evolutionary line, I could've sworn I'd never heard backlashes or scandals regard Klang, did I miss anything?
Hello, I really like this idea but I'm not sure of which game to do it in. If anyone has an idea of which gens have promising bug pokemon I'd appreciate your input.
I don't really mind which gen it is either but I feel a game like xy might take away the challenge component of this.
I’m trying for a complete living dex but having the mons be from the region they were discovered in. So Unown is from Gen 2, Johto but I think I saw somewhere that Unown ! and ? weren’t originally part of the first introduction. I checked Serebii for Ruins of Alph encounters in Crystal version and couldn’t see ! and ? listed. They can be found in Heart Gold, Soul Silver though
Were Unown ! and ? introduced in gen 3 or 4 or something? If they weren’t part of Unowns initial introduction, when were they?
I have an idea for a nuzlocke variation
The basic rules included:
You can only catch one Pokémon per route
Once a Pokémon faints they’re considered dead
Not a must but nicknaming Pokémon
Duplicate clause.
Added rules:
Disclaimer: I do not claim to be the original owner of these ideas as I am unaware if someone has thought of them before and used the name “Nightmare Nuzlocke”
1 you can only use a Pokémon center once then it’s deemed “used”
2 losing a Pokémon causes you to automatically lose a center regardless of if you used it or not
3 defeating a gym leader gains a random center of choice (like trading a gym badge for a center)
4 if you see a shiny Pokémon you instantly lose the run
5 you are not allowed to use legendary Pokémon they are deemed unusable for this run
6 the starter Pokémon you choose must be weak against the first gym
7 you are not allowed to use items repel, heals, antidote, etc. however you are allowed various pokeballs.
I’m not sure if this would be fun but I think it would be very cool if someone here attempted it and shared their experience.
Please do not hesitate to let me know of certain changes to the rules and style of the nuzlocke as I am still open to suggestions and changes.
And do not hesitate to ask questions about the rules or any loopholes or inconsistencies in the rules.
Thank you for your time and have fun!
