Anything from trip experiences, integration, cultivation… whatever! Thanks!
Like the title says, I agreed to start exchanging podcasts with my traditional and conservative mom; one episode swap per week from any podcast we choose. Here’s the deal:
Following this year’s presidential election, my mom and I got on the phone and started discussing the state of politics between ourselves; she’s a conservative and I am (you guessed it) liberal. As you might imagine, we began to argue a bit and I resigned myself to the fact that nothing I do or say will be enough to encourage her to examine her beliefs.
She surprised me.
My mom suggested we start exchanging podcast recommendations once a week to listen to in our free time and discuss together later, like a book club. I agreed.
Now, I don’t often listen to podcasts and I should more often. I have a degree in History and Political Science, and have built my beliefs on the information that I read and study so, I’m lacking in podcast suggestions.
On that note, does anyone have any good episode or podcast recommendations that would help to educate and open my mom’s mind? I don’t want to alienate her by starting off aggressive, but I do want to begin to open her eyes to other perspectives. I’ve agreed to listen to her conservative/trad podcasts.
Thanks!
tldr; conservative mom and liberal daughter agreed to exchange and discuss political podcasts to broaden our respective viewpoints. Suggestions for good “intro” liberal content podcasts?
edit: THANK YOU ALL FOR SO MANY SUGGESTIONS! I’m reading all of your comments and so appreciate all your advice. I will update in the future after our first exchange.
Have listened to AP a few times over the years and is one of my favorite productions up there with 'Derelict'.
Anything else like AP out there you would recommend?
Pocket Casts have their own version of wrapped/playback 2024, do other apps have something similar? Out of 24 days, 7 days were 247 episode od "The History of the Twentieth Century". Total count was 739 episodes from 28 shows.
Hi r/podcasts!
I am looking for good podcasts with electronics news and interesting interviews. Here's a basic list I use, can you recommend more?
Sorry if there's other threads about this, I tried to look but I didn't really know how. I have pretty crazy depressive episodes and if anyone has suggestions for specific episodes of your favorite entertaining distraction podcasts. Also welcome to suggestions for mental health podcasts and positive thinking or something, but at this very second I think I just need a distraction. Show recommendations are welcome, but giving some favorite episode ideas to start with would be really appreciated.
Podcasts I like (can be something totally different though, I like a lot of genres)
Tooth and claw Off menu Normal gossip You're wrong about Ologies
Hi all! I have a long flight coming up and I'm looking for show recommendations about bands/musicians that are notorious for drama and partying. I'm particularly interested in 60s/70s British bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the Who, but I'm open to any genre. I'm looking for something that covers the band's whole history over multiple episodes. Something kind of like the content of Disgraceland, but more of a series than individual episodes. Thanks!
I'm looking for something lighthearted and silly to replace We're Here To Help in my day. I listen to a lot of self help and educational podcasts that can get me down after a while... so I usually turn were here to help on to lighten the mood and pick me back up. Any suggestions?
I do follow the dollop but it's not always easy to stay engaged in the episode.
*reposted because mods decided I was too vague.
I've noticed recently that my Spotify podcast feed is starting to be filled up with "bonus" content for pods I follow. Obviously this is an attempt to get me to subscribe, which is something I'm just not going to do. I've got enough pods to get through without listening to extra because I'm paying for it!!!
Irritatingly though I can't see how I can get these out of my feed. No way I can see as marking as finished etc, they just sit there permanently.
Any hints on how to get rid of them without unsubscribing to the overall pod feed?
Thanks
I’m a Jamaican living abroad and I would like to know if there are any good Jamaican podcasts that we can check out. I recently started one that was recommended by a friend but I would love to add others to the list.
Let’s say I have six podcasts that release daily or weekly episodes. I don’t want to manually play each one or take the time to create a queue on my own every morning. I want the app to auto populate a playlist for me. Is there an app that does this?
Please use this thread to share podcasts you're currently listening to, to ask for recommendations, give critiques and complaints in a civil manner, and to chat about general podcast-related things. This is not a thread to promote your podcast nor is it a place to rant about things about podcasts that annoy you - these comments will be removed.
Also, please check out our wiki info pages including listener FAQs and our list of other podcasting subs. You might find the answer to your question on one of those pages. If not, please feel free to submit all frequently asked questions (FAQs) here.
Individual FAQ posts will be removed and users will be directed to post their question here in this thread. Be as specific as possible - "looking for a new podcast" is a bit broad.
If you are helping / answering a question, be polite and not condescending. People are here to find out information.
Please report any posts or replies that don't follow these rules. Thank you all!
Just binged this whole thing.
Trigger warning - distressing content around religious abuse of power, this one being about the mormon church, but a really interesting listen
Hello! 28F looking for podcast recommendations that would be helpful in getting my life together. Im interested in any topics like: procrastination, laziness, anxiety, stress, starting a fitness lifestyle, having a healthy diet, building healthy habits, creating daily routines, etc. Thanks!
I am trying to re-listen to a specific podcast episode. It’s a younger woman’s podcast. The episode has a special guest, a male functional medicine doctor who specializes in women’s health. He is white, married, i think with a couple daughters. Has written at least one book. He talks about women’s hormones on the podcast and testing hormones and how any western medicine hormone test does not test what actually needs testing. He also talks about the differences in what get men in the mood and women in the mood based on what they hear/are being told/how they are talked to. The title of the podcast i remember being somewhat click-baity. It was something like “How to always get your woman in the mood” “How to get your girlfriend to always want sex” something like that.
I'm a fan of blank check, the big picture, rewatchables, etc. but looking for a new pod with idk...hosts who are around my age? Like in their 20s but watching a good amount of movies. Feel like it'd lend to a different perspective. Any suggestions?
Hey everyone, a few years back, I listened to this music analysis podcast that I really liked, but, for some reason I can’t remember, I unsubscribed from it (I think my excuse at the time was that I had too much of a backlog).
I remember one particular episode where the hosts were analyzing “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey, breaking down the flow of the song, chord progressions, etc. The hosts had a piano where they would recreate parts from the song.
Does this ring a bell to anyone? I would love to rediscover this podcast. All my searching has been in vain, and my ultimate fear is that the show is just wiped from the Internet or something like that. Thank you!!
Mine are This Jungian Life, Razib Khan's Unsupervised Learning, and Fresh Air. These host's voice to me convey such rich nuance in their voices that it is difficult to catch at higher speeds.
Yo so like every night I go to bed and listen to YouTube usually like Hivemind (music/comedy channel) or commentary stuff or whatever but then I wake up in the middle of the night listening to this podcast called Jocko. It only happens at night too. I don't know what Jocko means and it's very alpha male and I don't fw that. It’s starting to fucking scare me now it’s like every night and I have no history of watching any similar content. What is Jocko? Why is this happening? It's a heavy alpha male vibe and I watch no videos that would correlate to it. Please tell me if anyone else is being haunted by Jocko.
so with the new spotify-patreon subscription update, my entire podcast feed for new episodes is filled with dozens of minisodes, bonus content and early access episodes which I'm not much interested about. I lose track of free episodes I am intending to listen to. did this piss anybody else off and is it possible to filter only the episodes I am allowed to play in that feed? I couldn't find the setting if there is.
Laci Mosley from Scam Goddess. Funny, quick witted, knows a lot about scams and openly bi (which as a queer woman intensified my crush on her). Just love her, especially when she is a guest on another show like The Big Flop or Normal Gossip.
Sabrina Tavernese, formerly (?) a host on The Daily. It's mainly her voice that does it for me.
ETA: Alice Levine! I forgot about Alice Levine from the British Scandal and My dad wrote a porno.
My partner loves stuff about russias tsars and places like pompei. Any good podcasts you could recommend?
Any will be good . I don't mind what leagues or types of football they focus on,even team focused could be good
I came across an old playlist I made last year and felt like maybe I missed out on a lot of good ReplyAll episodes.
What are your favorites/memorable episodes?
There two part Long Distance is one of the few episodes I came across and I really enjoyed it. Did they also have any other stories like this?
So I listened to History of Rome, Revolutions, China, Byzantium, Fall of Civilizations, Hardcore History. What else can I go for? I very much prefer long arcs, rather than episodic poscasts. Thanks!
Recently I saw someone suggest the Polybius Conspiracy and I binged it this weekend. It's about the possible existence of an arcade game and a guy saying that he was abducted after playing it. The investigation is pretty solid and I loved it. It reminded me a little of Finding Drago.
Anyways, it made me want to find more of the 5-10 episode podcasts about small conspiracies, mysteries and such. I don't want any haunted stories or true crime podcasts (or at least not anything too heavy).
Any suggestions?
I'm on the hunt for a fun and lighthearted podcast centered around doomsday prepping or off-the-grid living to listen to while working or commuting. I used to enjoy CrazyRussianHacker growing up and watched Doomsday Preppers for a while, but I lost interest once the more questionable aspects started to emerge. I'm looking for something with a relaxed vibe—nothing too heavy on conspiracies, as I tend to get easily stressed by that kind of content.
Looking forward to hearing your recommendations!
Some of the best I've listened to are The Economist's podcasts on the lives of Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi. Loved this format, but I'm open to podcasts similar or even just a bit similar which cover anything to do with current politics, political history, political figures, etc
How does that work? Who does the business pay for the ad? Why do some podcasts have this but others don’t?
So recently two of my favorite podcasts started advertising for cosmetic GLP-1 use, or Hers, and it just really grosses me out, and I find I can't listen to them anymore. I'm not looking for your opinion on GLP-1s, I support their use for medical need, but given the shortage and the severity of the drug, I don't support their use for casual weight loss, especially given both of the podcasts seem geared towards women. ANYWAYS I'm now looking for podcasts similar to these, would love any suggestions!
Edit: for clarification, they’re ad reads, not ads placed in the podcast by distributors.
