Just looking to see if anyone has tried using this pen with the 2017 PixelBook.
Have anyone else noticed that when you connect your pixel phone to a Wi-Fi of any source. Your pixelbook picks up the Wi-Fi connection and connects your laptop with it automatically. That's so f****** awesome. I literally thought I was going to have to bother my uncle for it again but it automatically connected it. Since I had connected it on my phone first Lowkey that's like top secret Google pixelbook coolness. Anybody else have the same experience? It feels badass honestly. Super happy about owning a pixelbook now lol ...
I wonder if other computers do that?
My 2017 Pixelbook has an EOL of Aug 2027. I noticed my Pixelbook Go is on version 130. My Pixelbook says it's up to date at version 126.
Is there a way to force it to update to the most current version?
Hopefully this is ok.
But I recently got a new laptop and my Pixelbook hasn't been used since. I did a local listing and didn't get any takers.
I figured I would go to the Pixelbook community and see if there's interest. If so, please let me know! In Canada if that matters
Oh my gosh. I just ran across an article online that stated the original Pixelbook OS support has been extended to 2027! So I dug out my old Pixelbook from its grave and sure enough it is getting OS updates. Honestly, I have a M1 Max MBP and the latest Copilot Plus PC, but this Pixelbook is still the fastest basic browsing experience. I don't get why but the track-pad scrolling is so much better on this than any laptop I've ever owned.
I was using my 2017 model pixelbook (original version) when it suddenly froze. The screen stayed on but there was no response from the track pad, keyboard or screen touches. It had been charging for a while after being completely discharged last night. I would guess the battery would be over 50%.
I hit the power button and it switched off.
Now it is completely dead.
Pressing the power button, tap or long press, makes nothing happen.
Hard reset (refresh + power) makes nothing happen.
When I plug the charger in the led glows green and a second or two.
Any thoughts on how I check its health and get it started?
Hey ya'll,
The day has come that my battery is starting to give out on my Pixelbook Go. I've been stuck at 395 cycles since I started experiencing issues. I have incorrect battery percentage stats, charging indication while unplugged, and running the battery_test leads to a no battery detected result. Have any of you replaced your batteries? There is an iFixit set of instructions but they feel a bit incomplete.
I was wondering if anybody has replaced their batteries before and if there is any additional steps that the ifixit directions are missing.
For example, did anyone struggle to remove the old battery from the back cover? If you successfully removed it, how did you do it?
Thanks everyone.
Edit: I did it and here are the steps it took.
Additional tools that I realized I needed later...The strongest floss I can find, and a syringe..will explain this piece
I made sure the old batteries were as dead as they could be. I used iFixit set of instructions to open up the back cover, and disconnect the batteries from the laptop,
The most challenging piece was removing the batteries from the back cover without puncturing them. I struggled with this so much that I ordered an empty back cover on ebay because I had doubts I would be able to do it. I didn't end up needing it because I figured it out. So if you're this far into reading this and want to offer me a small comp to mail you my spare back cover dm me. It would save you a huge headache. However, I was stubborn and successfully removed the batteries of my PBG's back cover.
So if you are stubborn like me and want my tips and tricks. Here is what I did.
I used a hair dryer to warm the back cover for 45 seconds at a time. I pointed the hairdryer on the outside side, not directly at the batteries. I then released all the pull tabs on the batteries.
I carefully utilized a syringe (as to not puncture the battery) to inject 90% or more rubbing alcohol in between case and the battery to target the remaining adhesive. Then I put on thick gloves, and placed the floss between the batteries and the back cover. I spent likely an hour or more rubbing the floss back and forth underneath the batteries in a seesaw motion to release the batteries and utilizing the syringe with rubbing alcohol every few minutes. I went through so much floss because I ripped lots of floss doing this. If you can get your hands on Gorilla Floss, it will likely save you a lot of cheap floss. This is extremely dangerous and can result in explosions or fire. So attempt at your own risk. I was lucky in that I did not experience such results.
Once I successfully removed the batteries, I found a tin box to set them in until I could recycle them at the proper facility (no they do not go inside home recycling bins). Lithium batteries such as these are a huge fire hazard and should not be thrown in the trash. Here is a website you can use to figure out where to recycle batteries near you
I cleaned the rest of the adhesive left on the cover using a combination of the iFixit opening tool linked in the instructions to scrape it off, rubbing alcohol, and goo gone. Though the goo gone didn't work at all so I think it wasn't helpful.
I connected the new batteries to the laptop, removed the plastic piece of layer that cover the new adhesive for them, and placed the clean back cover on top. Once the back cover clicked into place, I heated it for a minute using the hair dryer to allow the adhesive to stick to the back cover. I then placed all the screws back. then I gave the laptop a little shake and can hear one battery shifting a bit. So I used the hair dryer again for one minute on the side that I heard the sound. Then I place the laptop right side up for a bit to allow gravity to do the work. After 15 minutes I couldn't hear the shaking anymore. Then I heated the rubber feet on my laptop using the hair dryer and placed them back on.
Note: A simpler way to do this is to just carefully place the new batteries onto the back cover before connecting them to the laptop. Then connect them to the laptop and close the laptop up.
I let the laptop battery cycle to fully charged and then nearly dead (like 7%) without plugging it in between at least twice. This helps with battery estimations and the like. The first charge was a little weird...it started out saying it had 18 hours of battery and slowly adjusted by the second charge to say 8 to 9 when the battery was full.
There you have it. My PBG is as good as new ya'll.
So I got a second hand Pixelbook (2017).
I'm not sure what the previous owner(s) was doing with this Pixelbook, because the battery health isn't so good. Anyway, that's for another story.
This Pixelbook came with a brand new Pixelbook Pen. I recently tried it, and it's pretty nifty, but the button on the Pen doesn't seem to work. Other people reported the same thing. Is it defective? Can I do anything to fix it?

Thats it.
Seller didn't include much detail but I am happy to facilitate or help someone pick up it up. Let me know if I can ask details about battery and whatnot. Zero affiliation--just scrolled past it and thought of this group since we are always trying to pick up spares, lol.
Hey guys Kinda need your help , do Samsung S pens work on my pixelbook?
About months ago my M3 pixelbool quit working. It wouldn't turn on, wouldn't charge, nothing. Even tried 3 different chargers. I ended up buying another pixelbool on eBay for $150 and it's in excellent shape. Well today on a whim I plugged the charger into the old pixelbook and the charger light came on. I left it charging while I ran some errands and came home to a fully working pixelbook. What happened?
I had a look around and saw that low battery cycle counts appear to be looked at favourably. Also a high battery health % seems to be a positive. How would you rate those values?
I used to have a Pixelbook Go for 4 years but had to replace the screen. So I bought a faulty Pixelbook Go on Ebay for spares and replaced the screen on my main Pixelbook Go. But now everytime I open the lid it makes a cracking sound coming from the hinges which didn't exist with the original screen. Is there a way I can put oil on the hinges? Has anyone experienced that?
My mom's Pixelbook's battery is dying and there seems to be nowhere to get a new one at this point, not even AliExpress. Would be a pity to replace the laptop, since it otherwise suits her needs perfectly fine.
I just bought a second hand Pixelbook and the battery initially was 38% and now it's showing 57%
is this normal? I haven't seen this before on any other device
I'm considering keeping the device as I've been offered a partial refund to reach $135 for what's otherwise seems to be in good condition (except that one of the ports isn't working)
the only other option is $320 and I haven't seen the condition yet so it could be just as bad (who knows)
I was curious how many of you guys with a pixel book go have hyper threading enabled. I know its disabled by default due to security issues but it does effect performance especially when I try to stream games on Xbox cloud. I'm willing to sacrifice security for a less stuttering experience when playing games since I don't go to any sketchy sites or download anything weird.
I really like the pixelbook go and I have not found anything like it that has the same weight, form factor, and fanless besides the MacBook air m1
Hey guys,
I think I've bricked my beloved pixelbook 😔. I followed the ifixit guide to replace a failing battery. All went well with removing the old battery and installing the new replacement, up to the point of reconnecting the battery back to the motherboard...
My question is, can the battery connector be installed incorrectly to the motherboard - essentially, the wrong way around? There wasn't anything obvious printed on the motherboard or cable to denote its direction.
So I connected it from what I thought looked correct, but no signs of life... No power lights, nothing... I've tried the refresh power button combo, charging it for over an hour with the normal charger I've always used, and tried trickle charging for an hour too... but nada, no lights, no signs of life, nothing...
Have I killed it?
Thanks for any help with this.
Actually I recently buy a pixelbook pen for my pixelbook and the button does nothing and nothing at all , does Google deactivate the button function completely or mine has a problem ? it works when pressed it does a right click touch but nothing else
This morning my # key is not working. When I press it the Settings Tray opens.
I have Powerwashed but it's still the same.
To type # I had to do it in a Keepnote on my phone and then copy and paste from Keepnote to this post!!
Anyone experienced this or got any ideas?
I had a pixelbook and absolutely loved it til it gave out a couple years ago. Seeing one on fb marketplace for $200 I’ll try to talk down, but does the listed battery health seem right? Seems too good for such an old device. i5 256gb storage
Hey everyone! I’m curious about how you all use your Pixelbooks.
Personally, I keep my work laptop at the office and rely on my Pixelbook for commuting and business trips. When I need to travel super light, I switch to my tablet for productivity tasks, using my iPhone as a hotspot for both the Pixelbook and the tablet.
I’ve been trying to streamline my app usage across devices to avoid feeling overwhelmed. My tablet is mainly for annotating, short emails, and entertainment, while the Pixelbook is my go-to for both work and personal use. My iPhone handles calls, calendars, and messages, often in tandem with my Apple Watch. At home, I primarily use a MacBook, but I quickly grab the Pixelbook when I’m lounging on the couch and want to use it in tablet mode.
For work, I do a lot of internet research, attend Teams meetings, handle light Excel tasks, use some AI tools, and write plenty of documents. Typing on the Pixelbook is a dream, and the trackpad is fantastic. Despite its age, I still think the Pixelbook’s hardware is top-notch and often get compliments. The bezels don’t bother me; in fact, I appreciate them in tablet mode and barely notice them in laptop mode.
Why do you think it’s so challenging for other manufacturers to create devices with the same high-quality processor, screen, keyboard, and trackpad? New models never seem to check all the boxes.
What’s your setup like, and how do you use your devices?
My Pixelbook randomly dropped off the WiFi this morning. But it’s not just that the signal cut out, it’s not discovering any networks at all. I toggle WiFi on and off, and nothing shows up.
When I go to network settings, all I see is an option to add a VPN connection. No Wifi connections pop up, it doesn’t even give me an option to manually search for one.
It’s not a router/modem/network issue. My regular home network is still up and running, all other appliances connect and run just fine. I still restarted the router several times just to be safe — nothing.
Also restarted my Pixelbook several times, also nothing. Left it off all day hoping it would sort itself out by evening, but still can’t find any WiFi.
Any ideas? I tried digging through settings but couldn’t figure it out—but also don’t think I changed anything. It randomly just cut out while I was editing a Google Doc. Thanks in advance.
Some time ago my Pixelbook turned off and never came back on... It charges and it's keyboard flashes some times (also the recovery screen appeared like 1 or 2 times) I tried everything to fix it, recovery, support, authorized repair and self repair, but nothing worked.
I've been thinking of sending it to get a logic board repair (I think the storage chip its the culprit here) and see if that fixes it. I'm kinda scared that it won't work and it'll stay as a pretty paperweight.
You guys think it's worth the risk? Since the Pixelbook it's getting updated it 2027 I think it's worth a try.
Has anyone had the same issue as me?
Pd. I also been thinking in the case of the repair working, upgrading the storage to an nvme SSD (like the i7 model) instead of using eMMC or UFS.
