One of my favorite things about going to fests is looking up the undercard and finding a lot of hidden gems that I love.
What is everyone's favorite new discovery? So far, my favorites are Feeble Little Horse and Model/Actriz. Also really like Wednesday from my home state!
I've also noticed there are a lot of female acts/duos which is pretty unique for a fest!
Also, sidenote, when does the schedule drop?
I bought insurance for the 3 day pass when I bought my ticket and I won’t be able to make it now. Anyone have any experience with this process? How do I get a refund?
Is there usually after shows to this festival? I'm trying to plan out my trip but it's my first time going to Pitchfork. Thanks!
I’ve never been to a music festival before, I love the line up this year and I would like to bring my 9 yr old daughter since she also likes the main artists I plan on seeing. I saw on their website kids under 10 are free. Would this be a miserable event for kids? Too crazy and stressful?? I’ve taken her to concerts before and it’s been great but we’ve never tried a festival. Thanks
Thanks everyone! We will definitely be going this year, sounds like so much fun - we can’t wait!!
https://www.summerfest.com/lineup/ Interesting how some bands from Pitchfort will be at Milwaukee’s Summerfest.
hey everyone!
i’m going to be flying up solo from florida & staying at a hotel within walking distance of the park — anyone have any reccs for good (affordable?) places to eat or explore that don’t require straying too far from the area? anything i should know before i come?
I know this is a subreddit for pitchfork, but I'm curious what y'all think of the Lolla lineup. I wish Slow Pulp was at pitchfork instead of lolla
Hi everyone, potential first timer here and am considering just doing one day tickets - just got the text that prices will increase Friday, but my friends aren’t 100% sure yet and wanted to wait to buy tickets. Does anyone know how much they increase?
I can be a bit of a baby about direct sun exposure. Does the GA area tend to have enough shaded areas for hanging out? I know in previous years there have been had sponsored VIP areas in GA, but I'm not counting on anything like that this year.
Has anyone found any great writing about this year's festival, or about the festival landscape in general? I feel like I used to see tons of great long-ish form writing or podcasts about pitchfork and other mainstay festivals but this year I'm coming up empty. Love the discussions that happen here but I'd like to sink my teeth into something longer.
If you really want to be sad about this year's lineup, go back and look at what we were supposed to get in 2020 (damn you, global plague!) You can debate individual artists all you want, but you can't possibly look at that lineup and this year's lineup and say they're working with anywhere near the same budget.
I have been to this fest several times and always wonder why blue stage doesn't go later (for new folk the last blue stage set usually ends around when the headliner starts). The blue stage setting would be perfection after sundown. Looking through set times from years past I see they let it go late in 2016. Any insights into why they haven't kept that up?
Hi all! I will be coming from RI into O’Hare for Saturday’s lineup - does anyone have any recommendations on hotels, breweries and local eats? Flights are expensive of course so I’m looking to keep things as minimal of a cost as possible but understand hotels might not be so.
Thanks in advance! :-)
I’ll be in Chicago visiting family this summer and my trip coincided with P4K so I grabbed two Plus weekend passes for my wife and I since this is our first festival experience together and her birthday.
I have only been to Outside Lands (almost 13 years ago…) and I’m a little clueless about the modern festival experience.
Any tips for a first time attendee?
I’m staying near Oak Park so hoping I can take transit to and from festival each day but maybe it would make sense to get a hotel in the city?
Also - how easy is it to bring in w33d? Either a pen or gummies (I don’t drink)?
Any advice is supremely appreciated. Thanks in advance!
I am so so so excited for all the chicago bands playing - 🤩🤩 especially kara jackson and angry blackmen 🤩🤩 if you wanna check out other great chicago bands that may open for after shows, checkout the playlist ✨
This is based trends with past set times. Sunday should be pretty accurate - but we’ll see for Fri/Sat. Regardless, this gives us an idea on what to expect.
Thoughts? Agree or disagree?
I think they should headline next year. Let's get the campaign going.
I went to every Pitchfork from 2012-2018, and I was really keyed into the music scene when I was in my early 20s. Now, I feel like I barely recognize the bands in this lineup. Please let me know if you make a playlist because I want to go this year and discover new artists.
If you were part of the 2023 class action settlement, you should've received an email about a whopping discount of $7.50 if you buy from See Tickets, the platform used by Pitchfork. I used it the other day and saw the refund on my card shortly after. It expires next February so take advantage of it!
Curious to hear who people think will be the closing act on Blue - Yaeji? Jeff Rosenstock? Billy & Kenny?
Hoping to see 100 Gecs, Jeff Rosenstock, Yaeji, and Susan Archives - it would be ideal if they were alternating Red and Green, but I’m not sure that’ll happen. I know Yaeji played Blue last time, so maybe they’ll move her over?
Do you think Pitchfork will hurry up and review their album that came out in October of last year?
It’s so obviously a Condé Nast pick, it sucks. Some executive saw their streaming numbers and went with it. They’re fine and I’m sure they’re very nice, but they’ve had a total of TWO albums, and the one that Pitchfork reviewed got a 7.0. C’mon now.
I’d never heard of them before the lineup, but what I’ve listened to so far has been pretty nice. Am I missing something?
When do we think tier 1 and 2 will sell out? I am whelmed by the lineup. Could be better but the fest is reasonably priced and I always love Chicago
Edit: Guys, I’m not talking about the whole fest. I’m talking about tier 1/2! I already bought my ticket lol
Anyone else reallyyy disappointed with the lineup? I’m considering going sunday anyways since I live in the city & that day looks the best to me but I just feel like they can do better! I know it’s a smaller festival on a budget but they’ve been able to snag more desired headliners in the past and for sure better undercards . Was really looking forward to attending again this year but this ain’t it
I feel like it’s been a better deal in years past? I really like Saturday but probably not going all 3 days.
Anyone who skips LSF should be round up and sent to the stockyards. I mean COME ON. Best front man living or dead.
Why is vip the only one available to buy???
Even they know how some of us feel lol
