Pick On Someone Your Own Caliber.
Welcome to /r/pinkpistols, an unofficial home for the Pink Pistols group. Please review our rules and guidelines before posting or commenting.
We are dedicated to the legal, safe, and responsible use of firearms for self-defense of the sexual-minority community. We no longer believe it is the right of those who hate and fear gay, lesbian, bi, trans, or polyamorous persons to use us as targets for their rage. Self-defense is our RIGHT.
"Our purpose is to advocate self-defense of the sexual minority community. We do NOT involve ourselves in other issues, such as gay marriage, gay rights, the size or structure of government, political parties, nor do we champion causes such as AIDS awareness or the decriminalization of sex work. We stay focused on our specific goal. There are lots of other organizations advocating for these other causes. Rather than divide our energies as an organization, we instead suggest that our members belong to multiple organizations, as befits their consciences. We do NOT conflate our name with the other causes and movements, of whatever political stripe."

So the upshot of investigating what we could do about helping folks go through the lengthy process of getting their CCW certifications is this:
1: If you can travel, or are in/near Davidson County, one of our folks is offering the course in Linwood NC in March. https://www.usconcealedcarry.com/firearms-training/instructors/north-carolina-instructors/union-defense-llc-2946352/class-linwood-nc-nc-concealed-carry-permit-course-65a81 It's about two hours from Raleigh or 30 minutes from Winston-Salem.
We have been offered dates at Triangle Shooting Academy https://www.triangleshootingacademy.com/ in Brier Creek (border of Raleigh/Durham), which is arguably the largest and best equipped/staffed facility in the state in addition to being explicitly welcoming to our community. I'd love to use them, and their prices are reasonable, HOWEVER I don't think we can make their 22 student minimum for a CCW class. We may be able to fill their 11 student minimum for a private Basic Handgun class. Cost through them is $125 for either. The CCW class is 9-10 hours and does not include basic handgun skills – students have to be up to speed already for their qualifications. One option is all of us from the chapter pick the same date to take their CCW class, so a number of us will be in the same one. Range safety cards are $15 and good for a year at this facility.
I met with the owner of OnPoint (https://aimonpoint.com/), Houck Reed, who assured me that we were welcome and that their staff would have zero tolerance for anyone who was disrespectful of visibly queer or trans people in his facility. They have much smaller minimum class sizes and no cost to get a range safety card, which is good for two years. They will do a Basic Handgun and Advanced Handgun class with a minimum class size of 4, for $150 per student. Their facility is nice, clean and decent sized, also located in Raleigh. Their CCW class is two full weekend days and includes basic handgun 1, advanced handgun and the CCW portion. It is intended to get someone up to speed from having zero skills or having never shot a gun to being competent with a gun. It is $350 and they can accommodate 8 or 10 of us since they like to have a 4 to 1 student to instructor ratio to be able to offer a lot of individual help and attention.
On Point will also let us rent a range bay for $150 per hour for up to 10 shooters, with an additional $12.50 per shooter cost over 10, with people rotating in and out for safety to keep the number at 10. A classroom rental would be $60 per hour. We are welcome to get our own credentialed and insured instructor for our CCW and rent their facility to do it. I think this is an option worth exploring – we can do their basic handgun classes with their instructors in batches of 4-8 people, accommodate different dates and times for smaller groups of us, and once enough of us are up to speed, see about finding an instructor preferably from our own ranks who is legal to certify us.
It always goes without saying that we will help out new shooters for free, on an informal volunteer basis! Just ask and someone will step up to make it happen, assuming you're in an area where it's feasible to connect. Organizing formal classes and certification for members in need of their CCW or training beyond a basic introduction to guns is something we're trying to do collectively and cooperatively. We are not selling anything and we don't own either the facilities or the state licensing process.
Currently in the process of taking polls and having folks decide which options they are most comfortable with.
Shout out if you would be more comfortable getting your CCW alongside us than with the average wanna be gun dude demographic. Cost is 125 per person and the potential dates we're looking at right now on successive weekday evenings are Wednesday 3/19 Tuesday 4/8 Wednesday 4/9 Tuesday 4/22. It would be two of those dates most likely. Location is Triangle Shooting Academy in Brier Creek. Class is still in the planning and discussion stages.
I tried emailing the the address on the website but it looks like that person does not respond and the site is largely dead. Is this sub in any way associated with the website and the organization or is it more of a fan site?
Hey all,
In the wake of the updated Meta policy, I was going to delete my accounts and say fuck them.
But I'm kinda thinking I'm.just going to be more vocal than ever. Are there any social media accounts you follow in reference to armed queers? I'd love to check them out!
I already follow Armed Queers of Salt Lake City. But they seem more focused on Foreign wars and not the ones happening domestically.
Trans woman looking for fello9w LGBTQIA+ friends in Tucson Az. Also is there a chapter of pink pistols here?
I'm looking to learn shooting, handling, etc in New York State and was wondering if there are any chapters around. I couldn't find any listed on the website so thought I'd ask here. Thanks in advance.
I cringe when I hear recommendations for snub nosed 38's, butt-free shotguns and tiny guns for new and small folk. They are needlessly hard to use and so, often painful.
Considering going armed, feel free to ask tech questions.
Greetings I am a 55 year old straight black man. My sister lives in Arizona with her girlfriend.
A couple of weeks after the election I spoke with her and suggested she may want to arm herself.
She said they she and her gf had talked about. While I am not a gun owner I am not totally ignorant about guns. I said she may want to consider an EDC and and possibly a shot gun (Semi-Auto) because she may have problems using a pump.
I also mentioned a new gun isn't necessarily better than an used one. I told her the most important thing was to train on whatever weapon she decides to buy and stay in contact with her friend group.
My question is are there any members of the Arizona chapter in this group and how active is that chapter?
I am on the other side of the country and I want to make sure she and her girlfriend are safe and surrounded by support.
Any help and information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks 🤜🤛✌️🤝✊️
Anyone know of an active chapter here in Massachusetts? Looking to connect with other folks who want to run rounds through tubes.
Does anyone know of any groups to shoot with in Wisconsin? Preferably around the Madison area.
Does anyone know about any active leftist gun groups in the OKC area? I'm in Norman, and it seems like just about all of them aren't active anymore
I've been trying since the end of June to get a response about training from at least one of the listed trainers in my state. I messaged briefly with the moderator of the OBS Facebook group who said they would see what is happening, but I've gotten nothing but silence there for weeks as well. I know that organizations that depend on volunteers deserve a lot of patience, but at a certain point it starts to look like OBS, like many other organizations that start in social media, may have evaporated and left little but their name and logo behind.
Beginner here, looking for queer folks who are in Hoboken/JC area that could help out teaching basics, possibly go to shooting range together. I’m interested in getting more comfortable around firearms with goal of getting a handgun for self defense.
I had experience shooting as a kid, but have not held a gun in 10+ years.
Hi all. New to the sub - I’m trying at assist with a local Rubber group who are looking to hold a kink friendly shoot at a gun range in Metro Atlanta.
If you know of a queer or kink friendly range in Metro Atlanta, let me know and i’ll get them the information.
Also directing these guys to the local Pink Pistols chapter.
Thanks for any help
Newbie here. I just purchased my first rifle. Finally bought my own, and they said my background check is delayed, they said that "in a week or so, usually" they'll know whether I can take it home or not. I'm in oregon btw and I'm wondering if anyone here could tell me if A) is this a normal thing? B) why would my bg check get delayed? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: my background check finally cleared, after 8 friggin days!
The only way women will able to protect themselves is for you all to be able to protect yourselves and each other by encouraging others to come join your movement and get trained since society, courts, and police are failing you. I'm doing what I can to support your efforts & my girlfriend to be her own person that can hold her own but it takes quite a few people to prevent more future disasters. Peace, love, and prosperity to all of you!! You will, & are accomplishing amazing things!!!! I believe in you!!!!
I've reached out via email.

That post is for context.
I am trying to raise awareness and make sure people in this area of South Georgia vote blue this election.
Our democratic party meets in a few weeks, and I'd like to have a viable plan of action by then.
I've been reaching out to activist groups. We have a lot of liberal/ progressive people (particularly minorities, lgbtq+ members, and Yount women)
We just need to get people to care.
I don’t believe there’s an active pink pistols Chicago chapter. But does anyone in this group live in the area? I’m a Black queer person new to the firearm world and a buddy and/or safe place to practice shooting. Happy to share more about myself if anyone is interested! Thanks for reading :)
