So Build Redux...?

I guess they are struggling finically because it appears they no longer allow for custom builds.

My guess, they are struggling, and Cooler Master's corporate has stepped in and told them they need to redefine their processes.

Anyone else still having issues with them?

Ryzen 5 7500F from AliExpress

Thinking of buying this CPU from AliExpress because I saw comments on pcpartpicker that a lot of people bought it from there for cheap prices. But this link seems shady to me and I cannot find anything on the seller. Would appreciate if anyone has any experience they can share buying stuff from AliExpress or this seller. Thanks!

A Build Redux WARNING story -- TLDR DO NOT BUY FROM THEM

I am completely flabbergasted right now. I just received a "replacement" 4080 from Build Redux which was supposed to be a "Super" as an upgrade for all the pain and suffering, after a month of going back and forth with with their "customer service", and sending in my bad 4080 two weeks ago for replacement. Get this, they sent me back my original video card, in a 4080 Super box! It has the same exact noise problem. It's awesome, let me tell you.

Do NOT use their service. While I was initially pleased with the computer, this month long experience, and complete inability for their customer service reps to actually help, I cannot recommend them, and strenuously suggest you not use their services.

Edit: does anyone have suggestions for other places I can post my story, so that their reputation is driven appropriately in the downward direction?

Computer Universe.

I made an order on Computer Universe, every time it listed 2-4 days delivery time, a day or two after I placed my order, one of the items was switched to delivery date unknown, I emailed them and their reply was so foggy I didn't understand what they meant. Last night I noticed they sent the money back to my bank but the order is still placed, what the hell do I do now? I call them but no response and their email response is way too slow.

Does anybody want to vent about an Acer warranty fiasco? I'll start. They failed to repair a monitor I purchased for over $2000 and expect me to believe that $43 is a reasonable refund.

TLDR: When I sent my $2000+ monitor in to Acer for a warranty repair, they said that they could not fix it and offered me the choice of either a significantly less capable monitor, or $43.

I tried to be concise in the description below, but the whole process has been more than three months of frustration. I appreciate it if you bother to read the details.

I'm an amateur photographer and a few years ago I decided I wanted to get a solid monitor for editing, so I bought a BM270 and warranty extention to 5 years for, as I recall, about $2300 from CDW. It was 27 inches, 4K, had a color gamut greater than 100% AdobeRGB and very high color accuracy (Delta-E of < 1). Obviously there's no such thing as buying for life in consumer electronics, but I knew the specs were high enough that I wouldn't feel the need to upgrade for a long time I and thought that it would last. Well...

After a couple years it started to get a bright discoloration in the corner that fluctuated in intensity but over time got larger and worse. In early July it flared up badly, so I started a warranty claim. About ten days after I sent it in I received it back with a document saying that they could not find the problem. This was not surprising because the problem is intermittent, at least in severity, but I found it extremely frustrating that nobody even tried to contact me to clarify what the problem was, or even accept the photos I took of the issue. I explained this to a new Acer customer service representative and started a new claim. This time, after about three weeks, I was informed that the monitor could not be repaired and that I would be receiving a list of replacement options.

When I received the list of possible replacements, none of them was a BM270 (the model having been discontinued), and while they may make good gaming monitors, none of them actually match the specs of the original. One of them was at least close in color gamut, but none of them even made a claim about how color accurate they were, strongly implying that they were all poor. None of them retail for anything close to $2000. I raised my objections to these options, and was told that the alternative was to submit a proof of purchase and receive a refund. Unfortunately, CDW never sent me a digital copy of the invoice or packing slip, and if there was a paper copy in the box, I did not save it. I tried contactind CDW through the customer service email listed on their website repeatedly for about two weeks, and was ignored completely. Finally, I directly emailed the customer service representative who sent me the proof of warranty, and he told me that CDW did not keep records for more than three years, and they didn't have it.

I explained this to the Acer customer service representative and suggested an alternative. There are still a handfull of BM270s for sale from third-party retailers, and the price has fallen to about $600. I recommended that they could purchase one of these on my behalf, or reimburse me if I made the purchase. This seemed fair to me, since it was Acer that decided that my monitor was not repairable, and it seemed reasonable to expect that they would make sure that I got something functionally equivalent. They did not accept this alternative, and in fact barely acknowledged it.

At this point I decided to try filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I didn't really believe that anything would happen from this, but to my surprise, I was contacted by a new customer service representative within a day or two. Unfortunatley, at first they didn't offer anything different. The only thing that changed was that communication got harder. For some reason the new rep didn't accept emails, whereas the last one could. They could send them through a no-reply address, but I could only call (it can be loud at work even during lunch so finding a quiet moment to make a call during business hours is difficult). They did help in one way however. They managed to pry the proof of purchase out of CDW, without even having the order number like I did when I contacted them (in otherwords, CDW just lied about not having it). The Acer representative told me that they would submit a refund request for approval, and if it was approved, I would get a "prorated" refund. A week later I found out the refund would be prorated to $43. So now I have until Wednesday to decide whether I want $43 or one of the monitors they originally offered.

Lessons:

-An Acer warranty will absolutely not guarantee that you will have the full functionality of the product for the term of a warranty. If you need a repair, they may decide to replace the product with something less functional.

-I'm infering that according to Acer's internal calculations, their products depreciate at a rate of about 55% annually. That's a lot even for electronics. That's how Acer views the longterm value of their products.

-CDW will absolutely ignore you and lie to you in order to avoid making an effort.

-The BBB either will not or can not use leverage to improve your outcome in a dispute. They are basically just another way to open a line of communication with the business.

Experience with Alternate Germany

Exchange/RMA with Alternate de

Hey!

Has anyone experienced any exchange or RMA with Alternate? I built my PC today, GPU seems to be having problems (4080s). I put in a Retoure or return request, and was given a label already.

I'm going to send it but I want to know if people have any experiences on such early return and exchanges with Alternate.

Help with Downloading Retailers List (UK)

I'm looking to download a list of retailers in the UK, ideally including restaurants, shops, and product outlets. If the list also includes LinkedIn profiles for these businesses, that would be even better. Does anyone know where I can find such a resource or how I could go about downloading it?

Microcenter question

How do Microcenter bundles work?

Can someone come in and mention the bundle they want or would they have to go through the store picking parts individually?

I live in México but my mom and stepdad (In their 60s) live near a Microcenter. I'm seriously considering returning the Motherboard and Ryzen 7 7700x I purchased (Still new), have them go pick up the Ryzen 7 7800x3D bundle at their local MC and ship it to me via UPS or something.

I just want to know how complicated it could be for them to do me this favor.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Just another AVOID GIGABYTE RMA process!!

Hello - I sent my Gigabyte B650 Gaming AX X board to be RMA after just 6 months from buying at Microcenter.

OMG. The whole process with Gigabyte was absolutely a cluster fuck. The worst. I actually couldn't believe this. I usually think RMA complaints are just people being idiots but now I understand and it has happened to me.

First, I had to pay for the shipping back to Gigabyte in CA. Fine. No problem.

Second, I had to wait almost a full week in order to get an update which ended up to be CPU socket damage. However, I know this to be unsure because I made sure it was fine before shipping. I had my CPU cover on top of the motherboard and when they took arrival pictures, they didn't remove the CPU cover to take pictures of the CPU socket. Very convenient that the reasoning behind this was CPU socket damage and NO before pictures of the arrival condition.

In conclusion, I will NOT pay the $100 to fix the "CPU socket damage".... I'll just continue to use the new motherboard from Amazon. GIGABYTE RMA PROCESS IS TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I will say the RMA process with Corsair was the best. They sent me a new PSU, covered shipping for everything, and was insanely fast. AMD was great as well.

Intel RMA

Hi guys, I've been reading posts on Reddit praising how supportive and quick the Intel RMA process was.

My experience is the opposite. I have a failed 14900k and requested RMA. First, I got to answer a million questions for things I had already provided in my first ticket.

Then, I was ghosted for a few days.

Then, I was contacted again, asking me to update the BIOS, which was already the newest in my original ticket.

Then, I wrote a little essay to intel customer support, basically saying it's absolutely a failed CPU, and please, please replace it for me.

Then, intel agreed to replace the CPU.

Then, I was ghosted until now, and it has been A WEEK, and TWO WEEKS since I submitted the first ticket.

Is intel RMA getting flooded by these defective 13 and 14th gen CPUs, so they are out of hands to entertain my little issue?

Prebuilt pcs

Title says it all. I want a nice prebuilt gaming pc (preferably under 2k) that would run well and have some kind of 4060+ graphics card. I'm very new to this, and was recently looking into build redux, before realizing it sucks terribly. (According to reddit reviews)

Please reccomend a build and where to get it! Very appreciated.

Buying my first PC

Sorry if this doesn’t really fit the subreddit but I’d don’t exactly know were else to go.

I’m completely knew to buying computers and I don’t really know what any of the specs or stuff mean. I have about $900-$1k to spend on a gaming computer but I genuinely have no where to go. I’ve been told to research companies but even then I get lost. I’m looking for suggestions on certain models or just a link to a computer. Of course I want the most bang for my buck but I don’t know even how to look. Can someone please help?

Which model is my HP Victus 15L desktop pc?!?!

Hello everyone,

I've recently bought a Victus by HP 15L TG02 1025NL desktop pc, that's actually the model name found in the box of the pc. I tried to look for this specific model via Internet in order to have some infos regarding future component upgrade I might do later, but can't find any data regarding this specific model. I can only find it in seller sites but nothing else. Recently an HP Warranty message poped up and saying that the product I'm using is actually Victus 15L TG02 1000i, does anyone of you know anything about this misunderstanding? I just don't know which model I have in my hands. If someone knows anything about it, do you have some product documentation just to see which are the components and which others might be used to upgrade my pc?

Thanks, BR

Poor Packaging from Ebuyers

My RX 7900 XT packaging came with a rip at the bottom corner. The seals are still intact and the rip isn't big enough to do anything with, so I am just assuming it was ripped before boxing.

The packaging is flimsy in all fairness but still frustrating none the less. Is there anything to worry about realistically?

Best budget-friendly options for purchasing a Windows 10 license?

Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of building my first PC and I'm trying to keep it as budget-friendly as possible. One thing I need to sort out is getting a legitimate Windows 10 license without breaking the bank.

I've done some research and found a few options, but I'm curious to hear from you all. Where did you get your Windows 10 license from, and how was your experience? Any recommendations for reliable sources that offer good prices?

I came across a few companies with good reviews and partnerships with payment services like Amazon Pay, but I'm open to other suggestions too. Looking forward to your advice!

Thanks!

How are AWD-IT to buy from?

UK. I've recently had a PC delivered from them. The spec is high enough that it should comfortably run any game on medium settings.

Well, I got a blue screen error the first time I turned it on. Although I was able to complete the install after this. Since then, most games freeze when loading them. And I tried playing Amnesia: Bunker and the performance was horrible.

It has an RX 7800 so I am bewildered as to why these issues are happening.

Has anyone dealt with this company, or know what might be going on with the pc?

A warning about deepcool.

Two days out of warrenty my deepcool captain 240 v2 aio sprang a leak and took out my motherboard, my 2080 super and a couple NVME drives. I assumed such a catastrophic and costly failure would be covered by deepcool regardless. I was wrong. So if you like having a PC that's not covered in antifreeze avoid deepcool. Also this might just be me but whenever I tried to post about leaking on the deepcool subreddit the post got automaticly deleted. Making me suspect this is a known problem they are hiding.
