At my airport you can book parking online 24 hrs in advance for a discount. You type in your exact hours the car will be in the parking deck pre pay at a discounted daily rate and they give you a QR code. You are suppose to scan the QR code to get into the deck instead of taking a ticket. You also scan the QR code leaving.
On my recent trip I forgot to scan my QR code coming in and took a ticket. I scanned my QR code leaving and it let me out. The ticket wasn't used. My question / loop hole would be they do not have an idea if i really entered at my pre paid time because i took a new ticket. I could have prepaid for only one day but been there for 4 days. As long as I only scan when I Exit they do not know when I actually entered because the ticket and QR code aren't linked.
Thoughts?
After asking google and searching in reddit, best I found was this sub. So a fast food chain installed a single camera close to where I live. The entrance is three lanes wide. There are some arrows painted on the asphalt, but a lot of cars choose other paths. There is not gate. Sometimes there is traffic jam (in or out).
How can a computer ( or a human ) from this video and alone and from license plates alone reliably find all drive-in customers. I mean, already six-sigma of debt collection letters to drive-in customers may be a problem. time series ? Store full images ? Do I need a dash cam?
So am I the only one who can do parallel parking, but having anxiety right after parking. Like my car doesn’t have any cameras, and I always make sure to get out of the car to check if I hit anything. BUT , It sticks in my head that I hit something when I didn’t.
It's easy to remove the Barnacle parking device . It works with large suction cups and a small suction pump. Every car has a lug wrench to change your tires so you already have the tool you need. Just slide the flat side of your lug wrench up to the suction cup, push in and twist it slowly. It will break the seal on a small spot of the suction cup. Once the seal is broken twist the flat side vertical and the cup will pop off. do the same thing to the other one and remove it. Do it slowly to keep from damaging your windsheild.
So any ideas that can get a Barnacle off without paying? Would love to hear some ideas, alas they are so new I doubt anyone has been able to test any ideas out. If you haven't seen them yet they are two big squares of ABS plastic that have a couple of 700lbs of force suction cups and a pump embedded in them. They metermaid attaches it to your windshield activates the pump and in theory you can't get it off your windsheild without entering the code into the keypad, which you receive upon payment of your tickets. The Barnacle has a security ring that allegedly stops crowbars and prying. The device is foldable and has a GPS sensor. It also emits a siren sound if the vehicle moves. So yes, you can just roll down the window and drive home. But this is not very easy to do. I've had a car where the wipers didn't work before and I thought it was no big deal. Guess again. So yes that is an option, but not a good one.
I am not sure if there is any USB connection or anything that a brute force password attack or if a master passkey would be a possibility so if anyone knows please inform us.
Another option would be taking off the whole windshield and replacing it. They do have mobile services that do this for about $200 depending on your windshield, which could be cheaper then your tickets. I'm not a glass person but another option would seem to be making a couple of small holes in your windshield from the inside underneath the suction cups, thus equalizing the pressure and allowing you to just leave the Barnacle in the road where it belongs.
The next option is the one I'm most interested in. Can it be removed without any damage to the car? A couple ideas I've pondered is an idea similar to a screen protector on your phone if there was a cheap removable covering that can be applied beforehand that can be peeled off your windshield for cleaning purposes maybe or for water repellency or some such. Maybe some kind of super hydrophobic coating or slippery substance like glycerine can be applied to break the suction seal. Maybe vibration could do it. Hitting it with a hammer or something. I know the suction mount for my cellphone holder falls off my window all the time when I hit it.
These things are a nuisance and I think a way to defeat them should be found. So I'm all ears.
How do you track and analyze the data coming from your garages?
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a parking management application where I can can create a set number of car spaces and people can book those spaces out via the app for the day.
This is not for profit as it will be for a company's car spaces, we just have less car spaces than people who can be in the office, so we want a booking system that will allow people to only book in for days where they are in the office.
Any advice will be helpful as I can't find anything at the moment.
