Need advice: TTC with PCOS

I'm F29 TTC. My gynecologist got some tests done. Looking at the result of those she concluded that I have PCOS (prolactin was 25 rather than 23 something.) However, other than acne I have not experienced any symptom of PCOS. My periods have always been regular and weight is normal. She also did an ultrasound and said that right ovaries were fine but left had cyst in it but I can conceive. She gave me Myo inositol for it. My heart breaks every month when I get my period. My question is that is it possible to conceive in my situation or should I push my dreams of becoming a mother aside for a few months?

Small gestational sac? :(

Hello! Today I went for my first ultrasound at what I thought was 6 weeks 2 days. The doctor was able to find my gestational sac, yolk sac, and fetal pole. However, she said my gestational sac is measuring at 5 weeks 6 days and she said my gestational sac is a little small compared to my yolk sac and this could result in miscarriage. I’m so sad and just trying to stay positive and not freak out or cry too much. I was hoping to hear a heartbeat today. Has anyone had something similar before and everything ended up being okay when you went back 2 weeks later? thank you for any input.

Hope for those with PCOS

I have pcos and my period was so little in the last year, so I was convinced I can never get pregnant, considering my age (38). We recently decided to try and in less than 5 months, I got pregnant naturally. Ofcourse my pcos must have been mild as I never had strong symptoms or problems, except for irregular periods and short cycles; and never took any medication. But I do think the info online can be misleading and scary. I thought I should give hope to ladies wanting to get pregnant, and encourage you to have a healthy diet. PCOS does not necessarily mean fertility problems. Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, plus folic acid and vitamin D, and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Best wishes for you all 🥰

estradiol gel

hi everyone! this is my second cycle with letrozole. I don't ovulate regularly and suspected pcos.

Last cycle I did 2.5 mg and I ovulated...yay! didn't get pregnant so now I am on to my second cycle with 5 mg (taken cd 4-8). She said that my uterine lining is 8 mm which is on the thinner side so she gave me estradiol gel patches to use cd 9-12 to help thicken my lining this time and said I can take if I would like.

I am seeing a lot of people say the estidol patches caused them not to ovulate.. and I really don't want to mess up this cycle. it seems like I can take Brazil nuts and pinneapple to help thicken.

would you guys do the patches or jus try to thicken it naturally?

Metformin while pregnant

I have been taking metformin 750 for a few months. I am now pregnant (4 weeks) and my doctor today told me to stop taking it since I’m not overweight. I’m scared this could cause a miscarriage? I’ve seen it’s not recommended to stop until 12 weeks. Has anyone had experience with this?

Might be a stupid question…

I am 3 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I have been so constipated and accidently did almost 2 doses of Miralax in one day. Earlier I did probably 75% of a dose and totally forgot about it and did another dose this evening. Is this going to hurt the baby? This is my first pregnancy so I’m extra nervous lol. Please be kind 💙

Need advice about Metformin, periods, and such.

Hi there…I’m looking for some advice. I was diagnosed with PCOS 5 years ago when I was 18. For ages I was told only birth control could help with the symptoms and such. Due to personal reasons after trying multiple types of birth control I decided it wasn’t for me and stopped taking it for like 2.5 years. Then last June the doctor I started seeing introduced me to Metformin. She said while it’s meant for people who are diabetic or pre-diabetic, they found it also helps women with PCOS as blood sugar and insulin can cause a lot of negative symptoms. It’s also able to regulate your period and make it easier to have babies which is a big plus for me.

Now I’ve asked my doctor a few times but unfortunately I haven’t really gotten any clear answers. If any of you are taking it for the same reasons as me or know of someone who is I’d like to see what you guys have to say.

My first thing is that I’ve only been on it for a little under 3 months so I’ve only experienced 2 period cycles with it. Normally I only have 1 or 2 a year so have normal and regular ones is a new thing for me and I’m still kind of learning what’s normal and what’s not. Last week I spotted for like a day and then nothing else. I had been having period symptoms the whole week too. Then today I start spotting again. Just like last time and almost exactly 1 week later. Is this normal? Is the medicine causing this or should I be concerned?

My next thing is that my partner and I are wanting to settle down and start a family. We’ve recently got our own place together but have been living together for a few months now at his parent’s place. We make decent money, have a good support system, are both in our mid 20’s, and our relationship is very stable so we feel we are ready for it. After a lot of talking we went through the pros and cons and came to this decision. Now my question is how do I tell the difference between what is normal to experience in a period (since I’m not very familiar) and what is signs of a pregnancy? I keep getting my hopes up only for them to be knocked back down. I asked my doctor but she unfortunately doesn’t seem super knowledgeable about PCOS and I haven’t been able to get set up with an OB/GYN yet.

I know it is silly (trust me I feel embarrassed enough about it) to not know these things at the age that I am but I don’t really know anyone who can help me with it. Any and all advice would be much appreciated. I’d also like to state that I’m not here to get peoples opinions on my decision, I just simply want advice and help. Thank you in advance as I greatly appreciate anything you guys may know…

What is your pregnancy nutrition like with PCOS?

Hi! I recently found out I’m pregnant (and I’ve had PCOS for awhile), so I’m trying to figure out the best diet and nutrition plan to support my growing baby. Before pregnancy, I followed a high-protein, low-carb diet to manage my PCOS. Now, I’m aiming for a more balanced diet with fruits, and I’ve been craving whole-wheat bread and needing saltines to help with nausea. My top priority is proper pregnancy nutrition, but I’m curious—how are you balancing your PCOS needs, if at all? The nausea, morning sickness, and cravings make it challenging with all the hormonal changes.

BBT and need advice

I was told this post was more appropriate to ask to those who are already pregnant so here goes! temps have been slowly rising and I’m trying not to get excited. Have any of you had slowly increased bbt and later found out you’re pregnant? How many DPO? So far it’s early I think but tests are negative no symptoms really other than cramping. I am on CD 55 and have unusually long cycles. I’m wondering if I ovulated on the 19th 20th based on EWCM although unsure. Doctor want me to take progesterone to jumpstart my period to go through fertility testing and am nervous to start it without knowing if a baby is brewing Recent temps: 10/17 97.01 10/18 97.03 10/19 96.83 10/20: 96.96 10/21 97.46 10/22 97.79 10/23 97.80 10/24. 97.88 10/25 97.98. 10/26 97.93 10/27. 97.71? 10/28: 98.27

Advice needed after miscarriage

Hi everyone,

I’m new to the group but have been a 10 year long PCOSer. I’m now 33 years old, height is 160cm and weight is 132lbs. First diagnosed 4 years ago but my period was irregular since 10 years ago. When I was first diagnosed 4 years ago I was not considering family planning at that time so didn’t do too much about it except for trying to lose a little weight(mainly by going on diet like lowering my carbs and less sweets) because I also have insulin resistance. Over the years, my weight fluctuated between 120lbs to 130lbs and my cycle has been at 40-60 days. BMI wise, I am total fine but my belly fat is a lot and I’m not lean, my arms and thighs are not very toned if you know what I mean. I would get irregular bleeding during my cycle and normally after a few days of bleeding I would ovulate, and 14 days later I would get my period. I thought even though my period is not regular but I do ovulate so I still have a good chance of getting pregnant. Earlier this year I timed my ovulation and tried for pregnancy for the first time(using ovulation strips and tell from my discharge), and I got pregnant. I was so happy because that’s the first time we tried without protection and I couldn’t believe I just got pregnant like that. But soon 7 weeks later I found out I had a missed miscarriage. My HCG was all fine but I guess just the baby itself is not meant to be growing because something went wrong with the fetus. The doctor told me this could be just happen by chance but I insisted on getting referred to a fertility specialist after my D&C sugery because of my PCOS condition. I have done all my pre-test(bloodworks, sperm test, cycle monitoring) and will be seeing and discussing my next steps with the fertility doctor next week. Just want to come here and see if anyone has similar experiences and what are the typical treatments or next steps the doctor normally takes for our condition? Do I have to do IVF right away or would doctor prescribe me any medication and I try again for pregnancy myself? I was thinking it's because insulin resistance and PCOS that my egg quality is not good and hence the miscarriage. Any advice on how can we improve our egg quality? Any advice and information would be helpful and greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My ectopic story - full cronology with HCGs

Hi all, I know how difficult is to have a pregnancy and find out is ectopic. I know the fear, the disappoinment and wanting to just get over with it. It was my first pregnancy and let me tell you with full details what happened and how was diagnosed and treated.

As background, I have PCOS, no cysts, but high testosterone and insuline resistance. I am taking metformin 2000mg/day and MyoInositol. After some time on these 2, my period and ovulation came back, mine was so irregular that I had 1-2 periods a year.

So, the cronology:

  • 14 Sept - positive test
  • 18 Sept - gynecology ultrasound - they did not see anything, said its too early
  • 20 Sept - beta HCG = 500
  • 22 Sept - started to spot brown/black
  • 23 Sept - beta HCG = 900, light bleeding, nothing on ultrasound, free fluid in Douglas
  • 25 Sept - beta HCG = 1185, progesterone= 3.6, they saw something in my uterus, small sac, bleeding red, they gave me progesterone to take vaginally
  • 27 Sept - beta HCG = 626, progesterone=14.5, heavy bleeding with clots, nothing seen in uterus, free fluid in Douglas, said I am misscarring and will be fine
  • 29 Sept - had 2 day of heavy and veeery painful cramps and bleeding, almost went to emergency, passed what it seems a decidual cast of my uterus (please google, its the whole uterine lining)
  • bled heavy until 2 Oct
  • spotting brown between 06 Oct to 13 Oct
  • 14 Oct - HCG = 2800, ultrasound showed free fluid in Douglas but they did not see anyting else, told me to come back to better look as it may be ectopic, i started to bleed red
  • 15 Oct - HCG = 3200, seen a round mas of 1.5cm diameter near my left ovary in tube area, they administered MTX intravenus and kept me in hospital the night
  • 16 Oct - 18 Oct, left side hurt, could not pee, sit or do anything without pain, left arm, leg and lower back hurt
  • 19 Oct - day 4 after MTX, HCG = 2070
  • 22 Oct - HCG = 1289, said they dont see free fluid, mass there less visible
  • 23 Oct - no pain at all, just spotting.

So this is my journey until today. Still waiting to get to 0. Was 2 stressful months, drained me energetivally and emotionally. They told me it looks very good now, drops in hcg are very bood. Im hopful everything will be alright.

Will update you when I have new values and get to 0. Ask me anything, I can share my story, in case it could help you in some way. The body works in mysterious ways :)).

i cant wait to get pregnant again in 3 months, I go to doc these mo ths to do all test and do that dye on tube test so I can increase the chnaces for a normal pregnancy.

Wish you all the best! And dont feel like it your fault, its not, you could not have done anything to change this.

Dealing with fear tw: fear of loss

I struggled to get pregnant, and ended up doing medicated cycles, supplements, etc. Now that I finally am pregnant, I am horribly scared that I will lose the baby, especially since I am only 4 weeks 5 days, and I know many pregnancies fail in the first trimester.

It was just so hard until now that I am having a hard time trusting that this will turn out OK. I guess I just need some reassurance that you can succeed on the first try despite PCOS and being 34.

Every time I want to tell someone I am FINALLY pregnant, I get scared that I'll lose it and will have to tell them. Maybe I just need to relax 😐

I'm just having a hard time believing I will be lucky enough for this to work on the first go, when nothing else did.

Worried and confused

My LMP was 05.08 which puts me at 8 weeks 5 days. I did a blood test on 17.09 and my levels were 89.4 progesterone and 360 beta hcg. The dr confirmed I was 5 weeks pregnant according to these blood tests. I went for an unrelated private scan on Wednesday and the sonographer said I’m measuring at exactly 6 weeks. She seemed quite knowledgeable so I do believe her and I have pcos so I know I don’t ovulate regularly but how could it be so off? We did hear a heartbeat which obviously put us at ease but how does it make sense? Should I be worried that my baby is measuring too small? Or not growing fast enough? Should I do another private check? I went from being due on 12th of May to 27th of May.

Gastric Bypass & Pregnancy

I had the gastric bypass done about 2 months ago thinking we were done having kids after trying for another for years. It was honestly a bit impulsive if me :( I’m 36. we have decided we want to try again but now I’m scared our fertility specialist won’t work with me since I had the bypass done and they’ll say it’s too soon, I know the average time to wait is at least 12 months. I don’t ovulate on my own so I’ve usually done monitored Letrozole cycles and they’ve worked. We have an upcoming appt with the specialist to regroup after stopping treatment last year. Has anyone had their fertility doctor work with them after gastric surgery? Current BMI is 33 and I have about 40lbs to go to goal weight.

Experiences, thoughts, advice.

Went to the ER due to vaginal bleeding. Here are the facts.

  1. HCG 16400
  2. Measuring 5weeks 6 days.
  3. No heart rate found (it says possibly too early)
  4. Questionable fetal pole
  5. Moderate perigestational bleed

Am I loosing this baby? Originally thought to be 6weeks 2 days today but I know I ovulated later than the traditional 14th cycle day. Should I be seeing a heart beat ? They sent me home to wait it out and call my OB.

I know that the perigeststional bleeding isn’t a death sentence, but what really is getting my nervous is “questionable fetal pole.” I always really thought I’d get a heartbeat by now.

Going on holiday pregnant

Got two holidays booked, my gynaecologist cleared me to go no problem. Curious to know if anyone has gone on flights at 24+ weeks pregnant and how was the trip for you? I feel like my energy levels are returning and I feel good. I'm 24weeksish right now.

I'd love to know how many weeks pregnant you were as well when you took a flight for a holiday.

Has anyone gone on a flight at 30 weeks for example? Thanks 😊

Need advice or kind words....

Hi, recently got test results in the 500's, high pcos. I have always wanted to be a mom and wondered why I haven't gotten pregnant yet. Almost a decade relationship, we aren't trying to get pregnant but we aren't as careful. I took birth control in high-school for a few months then stopped. Periods became irregular but that was it I thought. Could that cause pcos? Recently also been diagnosed with hvs1 first then pcos so I am even more concerned with pregnancy issues or miscarriages. Advice or anything to help ease my mind. Recommendations for fertility? It's a sensitive topic for me, Ive been wanting to experience pregnancies and have kids for so long and he's finally showing signs of being ready. To then find out about PCOS and ... 😒

Hirsutism in Pregnancy (and PCOS)

I noticed visibly thick and dark hair on my sideburns, lower cheecks, and under the jaw 3rd month of my pregnancy onwardsI have PCOS since last 15 years. I also have been doing laser for the last 4 years on these areas, but it has never been this thick and the hair seem to have grown in surrounding areas where there was no hair earlier. I can't do laser now, as I am pregnant. I should feel feminine at this stage, but the facial hair is making me so conscious! I don't want to shave it as I fear I'll get a stubble, which will make it worse!

My question is - has anyone faced a similar problem? How did you manage the hair growth while pregnant? Does it go away after your baby arrives?

Wishful thinking

Hi ladies, so this is a bit of a long post , however, I’ve been dealing with this issue for some months now and I am in the process of fixing it. So I was diagnosed with PCOS a year ago, a few months after me and my husband lost our baby due to the cord being in a knot. I am not sure what happened during the pregnancy but I ended up with PCOS. I know pregnancy can’t give it to you, but I am also saying i didn’t have it before the pregnancy 🤷🏽‍♀️.

Any who I was put on Metformin to help regulate my cycles, which they always been irregular but I still knew the time frame to expect it. I was on metformin for about 6 months with my cycles just wouldn’t stop. Constantly bleeding 21 , 25 days , 15 days just the agony and the discomfort, and the cramps,

I was told by my pcp I lost 1 pint of blood. I mean pads were just soaked, will do ultrasounds after ultrasounds just to be reminded I have pcos. Nothing else, couldn’t find why I was bleeding so much, couldn’t find why i was passing huge blood clots, I was “HEALTHY”. So me and my husband agreed i want to be put on birth control.

So after my last ER visit I maybe bleed for 4 more days before it completely stopped. OMG I am so happy because it’s been over 3 weeks now I haven’t seen Miss Flow.

But these past 2-3 days I’ve been cramping and it’s very uncomfortable, on top stomach pains, feeling nauseous or sick to my stomach, and urge to throw up sometimes. I actually did one days. I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative.

FYI, me and my husband been getting it in almost everyday but not for the past few days i haven’t been feeling good and same with him.

Sorry for the long post but wanted to give an insight of what happened, but did I test too early? Are those even signs of pregnancy or pcos? Not to mention my discharge being a mixture of milky white and sticky, and clear and stretchy like.

What helped you to finally getting pregnant

I’m curious to learn what helped fellow pcos sister to get pregnant. Me and my husband has been trying for 8 month when I found out I have pcos and don ovulate normally, and that I also have high blood sugar, and testosterone. We have taken a break from ttc to fix my root problems first

Too anxious to get excited…

I'm 35 with PCOS and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, we've been TTC since December. We started testing for infertility in July, and I was also diagnosed with mild endometriosis at our follow up appointment a couple weeks ago. We actually scheduled a second opinion consult for this week, and we were mentally preparing to start IVF after we met the second doctor and picked which office we wanted to go with. After my HSG in August, I ovulated much earlier than normal according to an OPK, so I wasn't fazed when my period didn't start the day it normally does. 4 days later, I took 2 tests yesterday, a strip and a digital, which both turned positively very quickly. However, I'm just too anxious and nervous to even allow myself to get excited, and keep telling myself it won’t stick, so don’t even think about it. I did cancel our second opinion appointment, but then panicked that I should have just kept it since l'm being that superstitious. My husband has told me let's just keep testing each day and see how long it lasts, which I feel is such a horrible attitude for us to have, but we are both too nervous to believe it. My OB scheduled me for an appointment in 3 weeks, but in the meantime, I have no clue what I should do to try and stay positive and calm when I’m feeling like it’s doomed. I'm just waiting for the lines to disappear. Will that feeling ever go away?
