I have seen builds where, when using hot water on cold plants like sleet wheat, it is used metal tiles bellow the farm tiles to better conduct heat. How essential is that? Would it work just normal cooling, by cooling the gas on top of the plant?
What if duplicants, during their downtime, can visit hospitals for a checkup? This will give them a +1 athlete/strength/construction buff and -300kcal consumption for 0.5 cycle, and with better equipments, the numbers can maybe raise into 5 and also reduces stress. Also, there would be another status effect for undiagnosed which reduces athlete by 1, not too severe but noticeable. But if undiagnosed for too long (around 20 cycles maybe?), they can get ill which is -3 athlete or something.
I just cannot seem to figure this out. I have 2 grills set to priority 9. The egg cracker is at 7.
Why are they cracking more eggs while there is a literal ton of raw egg available? But won't cook pancakes?
I keep getting starvation notices because I disabled consumption of raw foods. What do I need to do to make them actually cook the ingredients?
I have one dupe with cooking as their highest priority, a couple others with it set to the one arrow up level. And not much going on right now in terms of labor-intensive projects or tasks. This is an ongoing problem across every game I've played.
My question is. I got it to work. And it seems that it's doable. I want to save as much space as possible since i'm mostly working on the new DLC planetoid and it's not that big.
My idea is so fit it inside of the side and have my powerspine go up next to it. My power spine will go on like this on both sides of the asteroid and across on top and bottom.
It seems like as long as i've got one output up and one to the left. oxygen and hydrogen seems to split evenly as long as i prefill one chamber. i prefilled the hydrogen chamber with like 10 grams of hydrogen just to see if it would work. And it did.
It will take 10 kilos of water per second. So it's mostly fuctional as a hydrogen producers. it's going to produce and obscene amount of oxygen.
I like it because I can use hydrogen for generators but this thing is damn hot af. I'm afraid it will just break the generator from the sheer heat. Maybe there is a way to cool it off through heat exchanger and harness it's thermal energy and then use hydrogen for power?
I'm really new in this game(thats a lie) I want to make a bristle blossom farm upside the beds to have food for a while, any good way to made it easy? if you can send a image with a setup it would be perfect, thanks
Seriously. Getting gases and liquids from space sounds so darn inefficient and impractical. I only really use default cargo and sometimes the biological cargo to get gassy moos or if I need some specific plants or critters.
Has anyone here used the base game liquid and gas cargo?
Hey guys, is extracting heat from a hot polluted oxygen vent something viable to do? Or is it too inefficient?
Should I experiment with taming it or just redirect it to my clay manufacturing facility directly?
Hey guys !
I was having some trouble with this cool steam vent overpressurising. I tried different methods. First, a single bead pump, but it was not powerful enough. Second, i tried to place two layers of small amounts of different liquids. With that, the vent did not overpressure, but no steam seemd to get out of it for some reason. Then, i finally tried just one layer of petroleum like on the picture. I can't explain why, but just that does the trick it looks like.
The vent is 5 times geotuned. I haven't measured the water output of this setup, but i think i'm getting all the steam out of the vent.
I did not find a similar setup on the reddit. Has anyone tried it ?
I have 1270 hours on this game, this is the first time i realise we can prevent overpressure of gas vents with just one layer of liquid at the bottom. Am i late to the party ?
It looks way easier that to setup a bead pump.
Hi! I have an issue with my research reactor setup. From guides I've been reading I get the idea that it consumes 10kg uranium per cycle. Adding more uranium will only make it heat up more quickly.
So I have a valve meter set to 10kg and a timer sensor sending a 0.2sec signal after 599.8 seconds to it to reset it. I've seen it fail to update the memory value with a 0.1sec signal once (I was checking why the reactor was running out of uranium in fact), so I changed it to 0.2.
The thing is that I've watched it work and it seems to send 10kg daily and monitoring the reactor for a cycle, it seems to consume 10kg during the cycle.
But for some reason after playing around on other asteroids and whatnot for 7-10 cycles, I come to check on the reactor again and suddenly it has 50kg more uranium!
So, did I get the concept of the reactor wrong? Or this issue could be caused because of game performance? I play at x2 speed, cuz x3 looks like a slideshow. x2 is like 15fps but manageable (I moved to another country recently and I'm stuck playing with a weak computer for now)
Edit: I'm doing this setup to generate some nuclear waste, so I'm just running it with 10-20kg uranium in its storage. To keep it safe
This is the finished product on normal view.
This is the gasses. I use hydrogen to make it spread the heat exchange better. It's just how i like doing it. I do know it's not needed i just like doing it this way.
This is the power lines, don't mind that little wire to the bottom right it's a leftover i will remove it. it's taken a while since i did all of this without the use of atmo suits. :P
And i want to highlight my awesome vacuum lock on the top so my steam turbines that make heat wont affect the outside world.
This is the pipe overlay with the heat sensor for the aqua tuner. The reason i still have the water pump inn there is because if i ever decide to turn off the geotuning. At the moments it's 5/5 geo tuned. If i ever decide to remove that it will turn back into water and i want a way to remove the water if that ever becomes the case. But i am not using the water pump as it currently stands.
And this is the automation wire overlay. I have an atmo sensor set to above 2000 grams to make sure the aqua tuner always has some gas/mass to exchange heat with
This is the Absolute Temperature overlay. Or the so called normal temp overview.
I want to thank everyone who helped me with this. I would not have to to solve this without you're guys help. I am glad i tried it my way first just to learn how and why my way totaly crashed.
I learned what mistakes not to make next time. But i'm also very happy you guys helped with me understanding better ways on how to do it.
For example using the steam turbines to just directly send the water to my hydra, using the atmo sensor to make sure the aqua tuner wont overheat. And of course you guys told me i needed more steam turbines and i thought i only needed 1 steam turbine that was self cool to make this work. God how wrong i was.
Alright i wish you a happy Halloween :D Have a nice day <3
I am sure someone might have already found this but thought it wouldn't hurt to mention it.
Got Some of the geyser info and such of the starting asteroid after going to starmap and opening asteroid info even though not fully explored.
Hello, Duplicant!
A new frontier awaits... for those brave enough to face the endless supply of toxic gases, food shortages, and random geyser eruptions, that is.
Too long has our asteroid base teetered on the brink of disaster, just waiting for fresh duplicants to bring their skills, grit, peeing on the floor-skills and occasional panic attacks. If you’re ready to dig deep, hold your breath (a lot), and fight for the survival of our colony, then enlist today below!
…Please?
Longtime lurker, first-time colony overseer here. I'm kicking off a fresh playthrough of Oxygen Not Included, hoping to build a memorable character list with members of our community! I'll share progress updates and clips from the stream here, showcasing your duplicants' epic (or tragically hilarious) journey in the colony!
If you’re in, comment below with your duplicant's name and how you want them to be presented in the posts.
Looking forward to building an unforgettable colony with you all!

Or anything out of diamond for that matter. Cycle around 1800, didn't have any issues until these last cycles. I have about 20t of diamond in storage and a hefty production as i'm running an automated 10 rocket drilling operation( all supply of diamon is flawless).
When I try building anything out of diamond the game registeres as having 0 diamond on map. If I use the blueprint mod it builds it without any problem.
Curious if it's a new bug( didn't hapen to me in about 2k hour) and if there is a fix.
Ty, and keep your dupes safe!

Guys, after several meteor showers my rocket simply stopped working because there is something on its flight path, but there is literally nothing there. Can you explain why this happened? And what should be done?
