Self-publishing an oracle deck with external distributor

    Hi everyone,

I already created two oracle decks. The first one, the "Spirit Animal Oracle" was both published by a French and a US publisher 4 years ago. Things went pretty smoothly with the French publisher, but I must say that my experience witht the US Publisher was really not great (despite the fact they are supposed to have a good reputation). I had to ask them for sales reports repeatedly, and actually never received a cent from them for my deck sales. Moreover, their recouping system makes it very unlikely that the deck will earn me any money at all. It's a pity, since I know many people who actually love the deck (and it is still one of my best-sellers as a mobile app). Since I live in France, I suppose my options are pretty limited to make things change, and I'll have to accept it...

Now I have a second deck, the "Shamanic Journey Oracle", that is already available as an app too, and I am considering my options. My French publisher already accepted to publish it in French, and it will be available this year. For the English version, I suppose I could send a proposal to other US-based publishers, but my previous experience left me with a bitter taste, to be honest. Living in Europe doesn't make things easier to interact with a US publisher.

So now I'm considering going the self-publishing route for the English version, but I'm not sure if it is viable. Basically, I'd need to produce a box, a 100-page booklet (more or less) and the deck itself. My main concern is that since I'm in France, I don't think it would be wise to handle the shipping on my side, as it could get very costly if I target the US market. Moreover, I'm not sure I'd like to handle all the logistics.

I had a look at some print-on-demand services like Gamecrafter, and I really like the fact I could direct people to their online store to order the deck directly from them. However, prices can quickly get very high, and I'm not sure people would be willing to pay $55+ for an oracle deck, even if it is indie.

I was wondering if some of you had gone the self-publishing route, and if you'd have some suggestions about a US-based platform that could distribute my decks and handle all the logistics for me (and ideally print it too). Or maybe even a reliable publisher you would recommend?

Any insight would be welcome. Thank you so much!

Magick of you Oracle. Can Amazon sell low quality knock off's?

Hi all I recently purchased this deck from Amazon after watching video reviews and looking at the images for a number fo days. I found them evocatve and what I wanted.

I read the reviews said the cards were on the matte side and very good quality.

Well what I got is disappointing. I dont think it will show in photos but they are flimsy, very obvious rough cut edge and incredibly shiny. They feel horrible. The print is bad too. Very up close you can see the dots that form the colours. In photos I'm sure they will look okay. I thought off Amazon directly this wouldn't happen.

So I guess I am curious before returning them. Are other runs of this deck not good quality and matte and is there a low quality flimsy shiny one? (Seriously like the cards you get wrapped in paper in cereal, or cheetos or the like). Or did I get a dupe?

I dont mind matte or glossy or whatever. They just feel bad quality.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks :)

Reading the book cover to cover

I’m curious if y’all read the book that comes with a deck cover to cover or just look at it while you’re doing a reading?

    Victoria Maxwell's Oracle Card Companion

Picked this up after flipping through it in the store and deciding it seemed helpful. Has anyone read/used it? What deck did you use? I'm considering reading through it and actually doing the exercises and oracle training in back. Was going to use one of my Colette Baron Reid decks, probably Wisdom of the oracle, but thought I might buy one of Maxwell's decks as they look pretty interesting and different.

The Citadel Oracle by Fez Inkwright

(Probably spelled their last name wrong 😞) I’m fascinated by this oracle deck, but not sure how I’d use it outside a fantasy setting or character creation tool. Does anyone have this deck? How do they read it?

Do you ever check in with your decks?

I try to see how my deck is "feeling" daily. When I first got the deck I cleansed it but not very well apparently because the first card I pulled was purification upside down. I took it to mean it wasn't quite ready yet. So I prayed over it and left a crystal on it to cleanse it more, until I finally got a "peace" card.

Then I checked in yesterday and I was getting a few cards in a row about imbalance. I checked through the deck and it turned out a ton of the cards were upside down. I like to only keep about a random 15 in reverse. So I went through the deck and rebalanced it. You can take a guess at the next card I pulled. "Peace."

Daily energy reading using the Phenomena Oracle Deck

    Haboob & Supernova

Haboob is a large dust storm, can signify intensity, envelope

Supernova is a powerful explosion of a star signifying a radiating energy and extraordinary phenomenon

The strong winds combined with sand symbolizes the passing of time, something that exists briefly where old patterns are being swept away, a necessary phase of transformation.

Just as sand is shaped and reshaped by the storm's force, you may be undergoing a process of inner transformation or growth through adversity.

The Supernova represents the explosive death of a massive star, followed by the birth of something new, such as a neutron star or black hole. Similarly, in spirituality, a supernova can symbolize the end of one phase of life or consciousness and the beginning of another. It signifies transformation, renewal, and the potential for rebirth or spiritual growth

The Supernova is a release of an enormous amount of energy and light into the universe,
which often leads to the creation of new elements and the expansion of the universe. Similarly, in spiritual terms, a supernova can represent the expansion of consciousness, the breaking of limitations, and the exploration of higher realms of existence or awareness.

It's a reminder that even in the midst of chaos, there is the potential for beauty, growth, and renewal.
Together, they suggest that even amidst chaos and difficulty, there is the potential for profound transformation and growth. It's a reminder that endings can lead to new beginnings and that challenges can be catalysts to a person's evolution

My first oracle (The Citadel Oracle)

I was interested in oracles for some time already but didn't really know anything about them. I decided to follow my heart while choosing my first deck and fell in love with this one. I find the cards really pretty and I can't wait to learn more and buy new oracles ☺️

Have you already created your own oracle? I need advice

I did it not long ago,

My brother kindly made the illustrations on a tablet from my sketches.

Then I used a template on Canva for the layout. And print everything at office depot.

These are cards I've been working on for several years, and I'm completely satisfied with the result, which really looks like me.

But I prefer use them for my friends or people who ask me for reading rather than for myself.

Do you have any suggestions to help me get over this blockage?

Anyone in here read Oracle only?

I really love my Oracle Deck. It's Woodland Wardens. It's so cute and sweet, and it also has reversals so it's not all sugar coated.

The thing is, I feel very comfortable with them, but I feel like I may need tarot for more depth. Do you think this is true, or is an Oracle Deck like this fine alone?

I've had little experience with tarot (with the Oracle Deck as well, I'm new to all of it) and I feel the cards are a bit harsher and some readings have caused me stress and I didn't know how to work through it.

The thing I love about Woodland Wardens is that for every card, it has prompts to work through it, so when I get a troubling reading, I have something I can proactively do about it.

Let me know what you think. TIA! 💐

    Just for laughs lol

Before I say anything I just have to tell you that my moon is transiting my 7th house and I’m ovulating so don’t judge 🥲

My question was “Should I get a dating app to find love?” and that’s the answer I got lol

I asked my cards this question because many times before I had clear signs not to get dating apps or to delete the ones I had and just in general my feelings towards them are shitty but ofc I had to make sure nothing changed 😂

    Thoughts on a read

    Hello,

I'm a new to card reading and have been practicing regularly for about 2 months now. Almost daily I pick a question (usually something like "what do I need to focus on tomorrow" or "what should i keep in mind when approching x issue" ect) write it down, shuffle the cards well, and pull one, assess what I think it means, then read what the book says it means, make some notes, then go about my day, reassessing the end result later. The other day I was having a hard time formulating the question exactly and was shuffling while I was trying to figure out how to word it... I didn't fully figure it out before I half heartedly just pulled a card. It was death card. Initially I didn't see the applicability to the subject, figured I need to focus more and put a solid question down first. So I wrote down " what do I need to focus on when honing my 3rd eye?" Which was the best I could do to form a solid question about what I was mulling over, shuffled the cards well , and again pulled the death card.

I'm taking that as something is going to end, making room for something new in my life, but still struggling on how that applies to what I need to focus on for my 3rd eye / intuition development? Maybe focusing on the new coming in will allow for more clarity for 3rd eye?

    Any thoughts?

i did a 3 card spread, which turned into 4 when these two cards came out together. i was asking for guidance and insights into my year, and how to move forward when feeling blocked, lost and like i’m at a standstill. what could this combination mean for me? ☺️

Colette Baron-Reid and the Good Tarot

I really love Colette's decks, but the Good Tarot has been a struggle to read. It feels like its stuck halfway between an oracle deck and a tarot deck.

Looking for a certain oracle deck and hop you guys can help me.

Hello there, I got the tip to post this here. Somehow I kinda missed out that there was an extra oracle sub. Tried reading the rules, but it seems not to work, so being new .. I am sorry if this is not allowed. Hope it is and you can help me.

I usually take a picture or write down the name of whatever I like, if I can’t get it at that moment. Unfortunately I missed doing it this time. The deck I saw just clicked with me and due to I have been (still are) in heavy therapy, this deck just nudged me gently as I drew just one card. As mentioned, at that moment I couldn’t buy it and when I finally could it was already sold and the seller couldn’t really 100% remember what exact deck it was. So I am trying here, to find it again with your help.

The layout of the cards were just like the decks - Lightworker oracle from Alana Fairchild and

    • Inner Cild oracle from Amanda Lynn Aisling

The text is on the bottom of the card. The art was not as these two, it was more artsy. Painted I would guess rather than photoshopped. Colours were quite soft, but clear. I live in the Netherlands and both me and the seller can’t remember if the deck was in Dutch or English. I think it was English and that’s not a problem at all.

I am very much aware that this isn’t much to go on and this is a long shot, but I guess it’s worth a try. Should you not know any deck like this, I am happy with any suggestions of something similar or your favourites. Thank you beforehand for all help 💖

What do you think of premade DIY Oracle Deck ?

I discovered these oracles recently and personally I love them.

I found that it was a really good way of connecting directly with your oracle and the DIY activity is really fun and relaxing.

To cut a long story short, they're just like regular oracles except that you buy them online and download them in pdf format.

After printing (at home or with a professional), you cut, paste, dry and you've got a highly personalised game.

    ps: it's 3 times cheaper

    Yep that's me

Glagolitic Card of the Day - 28th of March

For the oracle reading on March 28th, the Adamant card emerges, symbolized by the Glagolitic symbol Ⱅ, representing solidity. This card urges you to uphold your integrity, stand firm in your convictions, and maintain clarity about your desires. However, it also serves as a gentle reminder not to become too rigid or unyielding. Have you forgotten the joy of spontaneity and playfulness? When was the last time you allowed yourself to relax, laugh without restraint, and embrace the carefree spirit of a child? Take a moment to loosen your grip on seriousness and indulge in moments of lightheartedness. Remember, the balance between determination and flexibility lies within you. You have the power to steer your course with confidence and compassion.

    Question about analysis vs observation

So I'll admit I'm more prone to thinking mundane (analytically) than creatively.

I've recently purchased a deck and the guide book says the "cards are meant to be observed, not analyzed" (it is the Alchemy Elementals by Shaman Durek) and I'm a bit lost on how to go about interpreting an observation without applying analysis to it... if that makes sense...
