A subreddit for OpenRCT2.
This subreddit is for discussion of OpenRCT2, an open-source clone of Roller Coaster Tycoon 2.
To get started you can download OpenRCT2 from the official project website OpenRCT2.io. You can either download the game directly there, or get the Launcher, which auto-updates your game.
Note: In order to play OpenRCT2 you require the data files from RCT2. You can buy RCT2 from GOG, Steam and many other locations. All versions should be compatible with OpenRCT2. Instructions on how to do this can be found here. This also includes instructions on how to obtain the data files if you’re on macOS or Linux.

I'm trying to have a park I work on a little bit every day or whenever I have some down time so it eventually gets enormous over time. I made a scenario with a pay to enter and pay for rides but a couple days after I make a roller coaster the hype dies down and no one wants to go on it
Like I said I've been out of the game for a whiiiile not sure of the mechanics
The latest version of Benchwarmer on the Github doesn't include a .Js file. Did the author forget to include it or do I have to compile it myself? Does anyone else have it? It's version 1.2.0.
I am looking for a big map that I can split in to two sides. I want to play with a friend, building a park. I am looking for a pay for entry park. We both haven’t played rct in a long time. We like a challenge.
Hi, everyone. Thanks for giving this a read
I read and followed the entire tutorial on how to install OpenRCT on Android. I copied the right files - I tried two different data files for RCT2, I changed the RCT2's files along with the config text, tried installing and unsinstalling after redoing the whole steps but it won't work for me
Could anyone help me?
As the title says. I only got RCT1 on steam. Do I need to buy RCT2 to use Open RCT2?
OpenRCT2 v0.4.16
Can't save track design....track elements not supported by track design format.
Can I get around this?
I am using the latest build of OpenRCT2, v0.4.16. Both of my RCT Deluxe and RCT2 are from Steam. Years ago I had played an earlier version of OpenRCT2 and I was able to get it to locate and play RCT Deluxe just fine without issue then. But now, although having selected the correct Steam directory and restarted OpenRCT2 multiple times, the RCT1 scenarios just do not show whatsoever.
The directory is: Program Files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe > RCTdeluxe_install.
I have also tried first running RCT Deluxe itself, then opening OpenRCT2 and reselecting the directory, but the issue persists. I have not been able find much, if any, reliable answers to this. Thanks.
I installed both RCT1 and RCT2 from GOG, and I then installed openrct2. I opened up a RCT1 scenario and some track names are missing. There are missing names from other types of rollercoasters too.
I'm not familiar with RCT1, I've only played RCT2 before. Is this normal and just a part of RCT1? Or did something go wrong during install?
Sorry for the bad pic quality. I am a bit stuck as to why the single rail and hybrid aren't rendering correctly. The trains look fine. Any help would be appreciated. I apologize in advance if this is a known issue from the last release on github.
Thanks for all the work the devs do in their free time. It's much appreciated all!
I see everyone making custom stuff on here, can someone explain what program is?
Is it pretty much free play and do what you want? Coasters you make can you import them into the game? What exactly can you do
So, I've seen in a few of Marcel's videos that you can speed up the game by a lot... and I mean a lot, like x128 I think it was?
Problem is, I only have up to turbo speed, which I believe is a lot slower than x128 faster.
My question is, is it limited by a setting that I missed, or has the game changed in a way where that's... no longer an option?
Any valuable information would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Hi everyone, I've been playing OpenRCT2 on my Mac for a while. Right now, it's just impossible to play because the left arrow key on the keyboard mysteriously starts pressing itself as soon as I open the game. Has anyone else had this problem?
I'm trying to make a "dance hall" or "square dancing" sort of attraction. I thought I could make a Bumper Cars or Flying Saucers and use the Tile Inspector to turn the ride invisible, but it still creates the cars. I tried messing around with changing the ride type or vehicle type, but can't get that to work either. Anyone have any ideas?
I'm wanting to install openrct2, but I'm confused which variant to install... Does it matter or does each one do different things?
