Okay, so i wanted yall to tell a true story about myself and Rollercoaster Tycoon which is kinda funny, my first RCT game was RCT2, and shortly after i got RCT3, which was amazing, then suddenly our PC glitched and crashed to the ground, the Computer (A Packard Bell with Windows XP) did just fine, but the Graphics card was fries, so for almost 15 years it couldnt handle shit with games.. RCT3 had become unplayable.. so i just played RCT2, and then also got RCT1.. its cuz the Graphic card got fried, and we didnt have the money to replace it, that i just never experienced RCT3 like most of yall have, when i finally got a laptop (With CD Drive) that i played RCT3 finally somewhere around 2014.. so RCT 1 & 2 have much more value to me, cuz i didnt really have that much of a chance to play RCT3, and RCT 2 (and 1) just needed like 5% of the Graphics card.. its amazing.. i have had much fun for all these years.. ❤️
The game has been bad about random crashing for a few years now, but recently it's gotten SO much worse (Samsung S20 FE, just in case it matters).
I just decided to look at the app store listing just in case, and the top review says they finally updated it to fix the crashing, but I don't see any available update. The odd part is, when I open the app, it says there is one file waiting to import when I return to the home screen. When I do exit to the home screen, the import of whatever that is fails.
I would try uninstalling/reinstalling, but I'm afraid I'll lose all the custom scenery/scenarios I've built up over the last few years.
Any thoughts? Tips? Thanks so much!
Happy Easter 🙂🐰🥚to you all hope any of you all had a good egg hunt and such.
So my sister messed on my Good Knight Park to mess with me on as anyways It all turned out really great and interesting as I thought of this park for Kingsland TX as first this scenario park was in the middle of the ocean it seemed to be as in RCT1 I would never change anything except in rct2/openrct2.
It was last month when we did this as I don't mind how any of you think of no hard feelings or anything, it was really fun doing this as it now looks like this park is located in kingsland tx near austin kind of as a DC Rivals Hypercoaster inspiration is seen here! With a water dragon or sea serpent rising from the water!
Well anyways the medieval castle shown is another creative scenario created by the developers of RollerCoaster Tycoon, and there are no fences to show you the boundaries of this park.
On 2014-04-02, exactly 10 years ago IntelOrca made the first commit to his public code repository named 'OpenRCT2'. Some 25984 commits later contributed by 552 individuals over the course of 10 years we bring to you yet another instalment in this saga: OpenRCT2 v0.4.10 codenamed "You don't reheat cakes".
As the monthly releases mean fewer entries in the changelog, I don't need to cut it anymore. Enjoy all the latest features:
rct2.audio.base
and rct2.audio.base.rctc
.You can download OpenRCT2 v0.4.10 and view the whole changelog here.

Happy building and don't reheat the cake!
I've downloaded a ride and there is absolutely no information online or in the game to actually USE rides I've downloaded and imported.
How do open the ride in the editor? How do I build a ride in the game?
Since release up to 2018, Atari was the publisher of RCT3, which was developed by Frontier Developments. In 2018 those publishing rights returned to Frontier Developments under the original development agreement of the game. Since 2018 that brought in US $1.5m for Frontier as they published RCT3 under the Frontier Foundry label for PC, Mac, iOS and Nintendo Switch as the "Complete Edition". Frontier sold the publishing rights of RCT3 on the 15th of March 2024 to Atari for US $7m in total, made up of US $4 million of up-front cash and US $3 million of deferred cash consideration. Frontier has been through a financially rough time recently with most of their more recent games failing to meet expectations, so this surely brings in a nice amount of cash for Frontier, while giving Atari the rights to RCT3 back. Atari thus has full control over the whole RCT-franchise again.
What does this mean for the end-user? I'm not sure, could be that they just keep selling the Complete Edition, but just under the Atari publishing flag from now on. At least that is what I expect. Less likely is that they bring back/relist the "Platinum!" edition on Steam and GOG.
Hey everyone,
Matt from the dev team here. Wanted to introduce myself and some news about RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic on Android.
I oversee Graphite Lab, a frequent development partner of Atari games. I’m also a life-long fan of RollerCoaster Tycoon, playing the original for the first time on my sweet HP Pavilion PC back in 1999 as a senior in high school. I’ve logged 100’s of hours to this game since then – all of them dedicated to RCT1 (and now, RCT Classic).
As many of you noticed, the Android version RCT Classic has suffered from some instability and lack of support from Google over the last few years. This is largely due to the age of the codebase and the integrated systems within. Starting last year, Google implemented a policy to restrict certain app accessibility unless certain updates were made.
This is one reason why the app appeared available to some, not for others, crashed for some not for others, and so on.
My team and I are honored to share the news (though somewhat quietly for now) that we’re helping Atari get RCT Classic functional, once again, on the Android platform! This is a huge undertaking for us as we’re getting acquainted with the core code base, the game engine, google systems and several 3rd party frameworks.
We'll do our best to keep down time to a minimum!
Over the last few months, we’ve been successful in updating the underlying Android API, removing antiquated systems, and preserving certain critical systems. Completing these steps allowed us to successfully deliver an update on March 14. We only released this version to .01 of the userbase as a preliminary testing group. That said, getting this first version approved by Google had an unexpected side effect. Once we uploaded that version (with the modern Android API), it effectively cleared the Google restriction for the previous build version which still had issues and problems. That made it look like a new version was widely available. It was not. Many of you got NEW access to the OLD version (build 5) of the .Rctclassic edition. Our apologies for any headaches or frustration there.
On to the good news. Last week, we released a clean update of the game (v 1.2.17) which got RCT Classic functioning for most modern Android devices! As a required trade off, we were forced to exclude some old devices. A shame, but a requirement to comply with Google’s policy.
Fair warning, in getting this version released we’ve had to work with almost every layer of this application from the game code to the engine, to the various Google systems that sit atop. We’re still learning our way around it all, but from our testing these past few weeks we believe this update will be a welcome improvement for the Android community. As a fan, this was an amazing feeling to see the game back in the hands of Android players!
In our time with the codebase we spotted a few systems that were still not quite working (or rather we thought were only recently malfunctioning). The primary one was cloud saving functionality. In our testing we can see cloud files are being downloaded, the game detects them just fine. The game is extracting those cloud files. It’s possible those extracted files are filled with empty/invalid data. We’re trying to identify if that's because the game is loading those files incorrectly or if it's saving nothing to begin with. Based on conversations with long term Android players - we’ve realized that this system had been malfunctioning for quite some time and wasn’t a result of our recent updates of the core Google API and related systems. So, while Cloud Saving is on our radar, it isn’t yet confirmed functional in this version. Thanks u/yrhendystu for posting workarounds in the meantime! https://www.reddit.com/r/rct/comments/1bh8l8w/comment/kveg549/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Alongside this recent update, we discovered that some users with certain scenario data were getting crashes. This was due to some legacy formatting of the save data. We have a fix for this in testing, but not yet released. We plan to release that as soon as we can confirm stability on these devices which reported stability issues:
We hope you are back to enjoying your time with RCT Classic on Android. For those experiencing crashes, thanks for your patience! Feel free to tag me here if issues arise. We’ll do our best to keep your rides operating with as little down time as possible. In the meantime, your friendly RCT mechanic "Graphite Lab" is heading to PC.
Hey just throwing this idea out there as a suggestion for a new plugin idea. I’ve recently gotten into openrct2, and this is coming from a huge RCT3 fan. (yes, I used to play Rct 1&2 back in the day as well).
One thing I’d really love to see added to openrct2 is the custom peep name creator, kind of like what rct3 has. When I play my parks I love to have real people I know wondering around my parks, it just adds to the experience. I know I can change the names of the peeps that enter into the park manually, but I’m crazy and add a ton of people! Sometimes it takes several hours lol. I’d love the ability to edit the names once and have them as default for Every park I play. (I’m fine having the regular default names as well in addition). I’ve heard this can be done with RealNames.cpp, but that’s a bit too complicated for me and requires you to build the game, so a plugin would be super handy and time saving. Side idea, maybe you could even customize the guests shirt color/ preferences or something in addition.
In the meantime, I’ll be the psychopath manually naming every person I know for my new parks haha, but if anyone out there is looking for new plugin ideas, this one would be so awesome!!
Recently revisited RCT2 after many many years of not playing it. I could've sworn back when I was a kid there was a map where you started with a small grass field and nothing else. No, it's not the scenario editor, it was an actual scenario. It had trees and everything, had a park entrance, etc. Is it a RCT1 scenario that was removed from RCT2 and I'm misremembering? I'm using OpenRCT2 if that makes any difference.
