The police report has shown that changes to firearm laws immediately following the shooting were unjustified, and further changes are unnecessary.
“The shooting did not arise out of a problem with the New Zealand public, but with Tarrant himself and the government agencies that enabled him to carry out this atrocity. It is not New Zealanders that need to be fixed, but our institutions.”
Dowling says the Royal Commission of Inquiry report shows that Police failed to uphold the law when erroneously providing Tarrant with a firearms licence.
“Police did not follow the law that required them to check criminal records and interview family members before issuing a firearms licence. We see too often with our agencies, the individuals responsible for the decisions walk away with a new role and medal for attendance. We demand someone is held accountable for this grave error.”
Dowling says the response of the Government and Police toward firearm owners was unjustifiable.
“The Prime Minister and Minister of Police has known about the mistake ever since the shooting, but said nothing: encouraging people to blame and demonise our members.
“The Police released a statement on 22 March 2019 claiming they followed correct processes in awarding Tarrant a firearms licence.
“The Police Minister stood in front of media, showing off destroyed firearms and deriding opposition as “gun nuts”, knowing the only reason Tarrant had some was that his own department had not followed the law.
“Instead of fixing the error immediately, the Government and Police acted like it was the fault of licensed firearm owners, confiscating our property, raiding our homes, and changing unrelated ownership rules.”
Dowling says that law-abiding licenced firearm owners deserve an apology from Police and their Minister.
“We demand an apology to New Zealand for making this country a less safe place, and unjustly stirring hostility against law-abiding firearm owners.
“The failure of Police to follow the law underlines the need for a new agency to administer the Arms Act. The New Zealand Police are not the right agency for the job.”-COLFO.
Nicole McKee is getting blasted by Twitter for defending firearms owners and politicians are claiming that there “was no way to detect the shooter”.
The government is refusing to take blame and instead it is the public’s fault.
I really don’t know what we can do to stop the wave of anti gun idiots who know nothing about firearms.
We at Massey University are doing a survey to find out people’s favourite places in New Zealand, in order to ensure that our environment is managed appropriately. We would very much appreciate it if you could spend five minutes to complete it and tell us your favourite place today! Our website is: https://myfavouriteplace.massey.ac.nz/favourite.html

They look pretty good but the foregrip attachment system seems dinky, apparently there are 80 threaded holes for rail attachments but I cant find info on how far apart the holes are or how deep or what thread they are.
Anyone picked one up or tried one out? How do they perform?
Anyone know if someone stocks it in NZ?
I haven't posted anything myself, but I assumed after the fuss that was kicked up today with the protest they'd be all over it on the main NZ sub. Nothing. Makes me wonder if the mods are suppressing it again. Have you guys been keeping an eye on it?
That includes all of your freaky deaky .22LR variants, as well as anything with an upper/lower configuration that was restricted and on a C-cat endorsement such as SLRs and M16s.
This was not a mistake. This was intentional. Join us and protest tomorrow: https://firearmsprotest.org.nz/
Under the Arms (Prohibited Ammunition) Amendment Order 2019 certain types of ammunition have been prohibited since mid October. If you are a collector, there is a new form, the POL67AC to be recognised as a bona fide collector of ammunition as per Section 28Y(1) of the Arms Regulations. It's not on the Police website yet but the local Arms Clerk emailed it to me, so thought I'd share it
Thought i'd start a discussion to generate some content in this sub.
After watching a few hours of wellington select committee submissions i feel like the voice of firearms owners are certainly in the majority.
I feel like easily over 90% of submitters are against this bill.
Here's hoping the select committee recommend to bin this bill. And not the kangaroo court that happened earlier this year.
Thoughts and opinions?
And the right people are attached to it. PM me with some details if you'd like to be added to the group on facebook.
I happened to see a portion of the POL 67S form which covers the ‘buyback’ in a Firearm Owners United NZ Facebook post.
The NZ Police web page for forms doesn’t have this one on it.
Would anyone happen to have a link to this form, or a PDF of it?
If you have a PDF but nowhere to host it, you can upload to docdroid (google it).
I’m sure there’d be a bunch of people interested to see it.
