My 2003 3.8L Montero does the BBA cycling pump humming noise thing when I turn my key to the ‘ON’ position. Should I let the cycle finish before fully turning the ignition over or can I just start it as it’s cycling?

I start having a hassle engine idle, then I started hearing a hissing noise once brake lever has been pressed, then in a couple of days I had a rock break pedal, I diagnosed it and I found that I have a vacuum leak coming from the brake booster it self, I went to find replacement but no one have it even in searched in every scrap yard and even the agency don’t have it unless if I pay a hell of money to get it and the cost is ridiculous with the shipping cost, I don’t know if I can find a used alternative brake booster that might fit on it

Wrong sub probably but can I put a 97 montero v6 alternator on a 4m40 pajero? Will it mount up?

Potentially looking at a 2000 Pajero with a 3.2 diesel and a manual. Has 500,000 KM on the body, apparently the engine was replaced as of more recently. Also has a bunch of new parts, more expensive items. Looks to be in good shape from the photos, still have to check it out in person. Had an issue with the injection pump which was apparently replaced. But according to the ad it now needs the governor adjusted. Is that a hard fix? Also wondering if it’s worth my time to check out in general? Any common issues to look out for?

Ever since I got my Mk1 I was wondering what that button is supposed to do. When pressing it seems to draw some current as all the lights dim momentarily. Nothing Switches on, though. Can anyone enlighten me? 😵‍💫

Figured this was more economical/time efficient than finding one of these in a junkyard, tracking down the correct connectors or buying a “new” one for half a billion dollars.

They come in black too that would be acceptable. Anyone have an idea where to find one?

Hello dudes and gals. Owner of a 1993 here in Phoenix. The last few summers, sometimes I find my Montero shutting off and showing the A/T light when she rolls slow forward or backing up. Took it into a mechanic with no luck.

I pulled over for. ‘96 Montero LS with 200k listed for $1750. This is what the person had to say about the condition. Any ideas? Is this a common issue for high mileage Monteros? I love this car and if it was fixable it would be a steal.

This is for medium to tall people. I am 188 cm (6.17 ft) tall and I feel like the chair is too high for me. I have an electric adjustment and I leave it as low as possible, but I still feel like it is high. Has anyone modified the seat or had a similar problem? It's a mitsubishi montero gen 3

Hi, I come here to get some bias opinions. I’m planning to buy an SUV and I have reduced my options between a Mitsubishi Montero Limited 2015 (4x4) and a MB GLK 2015 4matic. I live in Rocky Point (which has potholes and beach) but the car would be used mostly to travel to the US or to better maintained highways in Mexico (I have another car to go to my job). I suffered a really bad car accident so I appreciate the safety. I understand that are different level vehicles but I would appreciate some feedback, there is a difference of around 500 dollars between my options.

While cleaning out my valve covers I mistakenly used coarse sandpaper without realizing that the grit would undoubtedly make its way into the baffles. I'd like to separate them from the covers to clean but I'm not sure how to go about it. It looks like they were pressed on as opposed to riveted. Anyone have any experience or advice to share? This is off an 03 3.5L btw

Looking at possibly picking up an early 2001 Pajero in Germany that would come back with me the US. Absolutely love the body style, but it’s a bit of a departure from my previous 4Runners and Land Cruisers.

With the D-ID not offered in the US, my main concern is potential servicing. Generally, I maintain my own vehicles, but if I didn’t feel up to the task, would it be easy to find a shop to service the diesel? I understand this can vary by location.

Vehicle in question has 200k kms with a dealer maintained log book and looks to be very well kept visually for its age.

Any input on reliability of this motor is greatly appreciated. Have heard that once they pop, rebuilds are not nearly as effective. The injector pump is also a source of concern, but have also read higher failure is due to poor fuel quality. I also understand that posts in forums online also tend to be negatively biased for repairs, etc.

The alternative is finding a Prado 90, but the additional size, features, and power of the Paj are far more appealing too me.

Has anyone tried to gain more power and torque on these old engines?

I'm having my old 1st gen in for a turbo upgrade (going with a Holset HX35), a big air to air intercooler (it doesn't have one yet, and a new upgraded injection pump.

All of these after having the head checked and repaired if necessary.

Has anyone tried applying these upgrades? What can I expect with regards to power and torque? The shop owner has given me estimates but, I want someone here to share their firsthand experiences.
