I follow this channel on TikTok and figured I'd share this guy doing the Lord's work keeping folks up to date on our state government.
You all realize that your political views don’t actually differ from anyone else’s? You sure think they do. But I’m going to tell you all something you should’ve already known.
A) the revolutionary war was fought over TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION… meaning the citizens were being taxed, and not fairly represented in congress… this was even over a 3% tax.
B) 2% of the population makes up 50% of congress, and that same 2% owns, buys out, and pays EVERY SINGLE POLITICIAN… every last one of them.
Who is this 50%? Go look for yourselves.
As the title says - does anyone know which organization or candidate sent these mailers?
I know the election is over, but we got at least 4 mailers with this meme. There’s no “paid by” or return address on any of the mail.
For those who voted in the primaries, were your General Election ballots formatted the same or different than the Primary Ballot? {Such as individual names related to party versus no party, description of Initiatives, versus shortened version, ect?}
I was pleasantly surprised by this article. I'm not naive enough to think it will change anything but it gave credence to my own thoughts.
Welp. There it is. Should I start some fires yet?
I guess we just have to wait for those tariffs to 'make America affordable again'. /s
Yes, both Zinke and Rosendale voted agains.
I got an email from Ryan Zinke trying to stoke fear about crime. He links to a Fox News article about increased crime but every other source I can find says crime is down. He asks for a response as to whether you are afraid of crime and I will be responding after I think through the response. Anyone else get this and respond? I would be curious about your response to him.
If we lose Medicaid and the ACA, our rural hospitals will take a major hit. There’s a very real possibility of hospitals closing, which is not only bad for those of us who get sick sometimes but also all the people who are employed by them. In my town the hospital is one of the largest, if not the largest, employers. I’m worried this could be the final blow to Montana’s rural towns.
I know this sub skews left, but there have to be a few Trump voters in here. Is this something you’ve considered? Is there a reason I can’t see that this won’t happen?
I think it's pretty obvious that Sheila and Robyn are not long for this (political) world. Any thoughts on who might be up for taking the reins of the Montana Democratic Party, now that PAC money is likely to leave us be for a while?
So astonishingly, while most of the country went red on elections, almost every state where abortion was on the ballot voted in favor. Not only that, but traditionally red states like Missouri won even more progressive initiatives like a $15 minimum wage and paid family leave. So since this seems like our only reliable bulwark against worsening living conditions for the near future, how do we get the ball rolling on more initiatives like that in this state? What was the whole ground game for I-128?
Because the person everyone seems to blame (Gianforte) won* the usually-blue county where property values/taxes went up the most (Gallatin).
Edit: Almost won. See comments below. Oops, misread an article.
Hi all, Not sure if this is the right group for this feel free to take down if not.
I am planning on leaving my home state to go to college in Montana. I am Jewish and Israeli and wondering if anyone has any insight on how this is normally perceived by people in Montana. I am aware that antisemitism will exist everywhere I go, but I guess I’m wondering how drastic / socially acceptable it is there (to be antisemitic). Especially considering recent world events. My hometown is very liberal and I’ve seen a lot of open antisemitism rise from that side of the spectrum in the past year and a half. My whole life I’ve never really been surrounded by people on the opposite side of the spectrum.
Going to visit MT soon so I’ll see for myself, but I’d still very much appreciate a genuine opinion from someone local about what my life could realistically look like in Montana (regarding antisemitism).
The people driving around with BHA license plates and Sheehy stickers. WTF do you think the outcome of that vote is going to be?
It seems like they had similar races. A well known democrat incumbent Vs a rich out of state republican. However it seems tester outperforms Harris more than Casey did.
Why did tester outperform someone as formidable as Casey?
What the hell are people thinking? After all the media on the problems Republicans have created, the lies they've told and the fact most aren't even from Montana, why would ANYONE vote for them? Well congratulations Montana!!! You've just proven liars, carpetbaggers and con men are acceptable representatives of our state!!! And now we're gonna pay them to continue shitting on us!!!
Can any one of the 8000 or so folks, who voted to protect women’s healthcare in Montana, but voted for the man who stacked the SCOTUS with devout anti choice justices, explain your logic.
Did you believe him when he said it was a state issue?
