Should I buy a 2018 E200d SE with 109k miles on it for £15k

Looking into buying my first Mercedes 🥳 but unsure if I should get a car with that many miles especially when Mercedes’ parts are expensive. Also I was genuinely surprised at the price so this also could be a scam 😭 please helppp. Any recommendations are welcome ☺️

2022 GLS 450 with night package & AMG line exterior package

Hi everyone!

I am looking at possibly purchasing a 2022 GLS 450 w/ night package and AMG exterior package. It's a gorgeous vehicle! It'll be my very first luxury car. Only think I was not crazy about and would be interested to hear other opinons has well, is how the captain chair on the driver side did not fold forward (there was no button for it). The salesman said to enter the back 3rd row, only the right captain chair folds forward. Not really a deal breaker, but every 3rd row SUV I know, both captain chairs fold forward.

Also, another somewhat concern. I understand Mercedes have a high depreciation rate. However, would purchasing it used for $61k increase my chances of going upside down? My finance amount would be $57k for 72 months at 3% (I work at a credit union so this is an employee rate)

2016 GLC-300 dead with no warning

Hi all, I just went to start my car that I had driven few hours ago without any issue and it is completely dead. No light coming on. Tried with switch in also. It is my daily drive and had no issue or warnings. Battery was replaced a bit less than 3 years ago. The only thing I did earlier today was to set my garage door opener homelink as I had installed a new opener few days ago.

Any idea? I doubt it is battery related but I will try jump starting as soon as I find a friend that is free and will drive to advance auto so they can test battery which is still under warranty.

Bringing a Classic Back to Life: Steve and Andrew’s Restoration Journey at North Star Motors

northstarmercedes.com.au

At North Star Motors Brisbane, it’s not just about the modern cars and cutting-edge technology; it's about the passion for vehicles that have stood the test of time, each with its unique story to tell. Steve and Andrew, two seasoned mechanics at North Star Motors, have taken on an ambitious project: restoring a classic Mercedes-Benz SEC coupe. This isn’t just any car—it’s a piece of automotive history, a powerful symbol of luxury from an era when Mercedes-Benz was redefining elegance and engineering on wheels.

The Mercedes SEC, part of the renowned W126 series, is a grand tourer known for its exquisite design, smooth handling, and powerful performance. Produced between 1979 and 1991, these cars are beloved by enthusiasts for their timeless look and luxury status. This particular SEC, however, has seen better days. Its faded paint and signs of wear hint at years of sun, rain, and neglect, but Steve and Andrew are ready to give it the second life it deserves.

Step One: Evaluation and Planning

Steve and Andrew started the project with a thorough evaluation of the car’s current state. Under the hood, the SEC’s engine showed signs of age, with parts needing replacement or repair, and the wiring, transmission, and cooling systems all demanding attention. Exterior-wise, the body panels are intact but lack the original shine, and the worn interior speaks to years of use. After assessing everything from the mechanical components to the upholstery, the team sketched out a comprehensive restoration plan.

Their goal? To maintain the car’s authenticity while ensuring it performs as well as it did the day it rolled off the assembly line. This isn't just a cosmetic makeover—it’s a full restoration.

The Engine: Breathing Life Back Into a Classic

For any classic car enthusiast, the engine is the heart and soul of the vehicle, and Steve and Andrew are dedicated to reviving the power beneath the hood. The SEC’s original engine is a masterpiece of German engineering, and restoring it is both a challenge and a privilege. They’ll start by dismantling the engine, carefully inspecting each part, and replacing any worn or outdated components with genuine Mercedes parts to keep it true to its roots.

Rebuilding this engine means more than just making it run; it’s about making it purr like it once did, bringing out the iconic smoothness and responsiveness that Mercedes enthusiasts know and love.

The Body: Restoring Elegance

The SEC's faded and chipped paint has lost its former luster, but that’s about to change. Steve and Andrew plan to strip down the old paint and meticulously prepare the body for a fresh coat. The original color will be restored, bringing back the timeless elegance that makes the SEC so eye-catching. They’ll also tackle any minor dents or imperfections, ensuring the bodywork is as pristine as it was in its glory days.

To complete the look, they'll refresh the chrome trim and emblem details that add that extra touch of sophistication to this classic coupe. Every curve, every angle will reflect the care and attention North Star Motors is known for.

The Interior: A Luxurious Revival

The SEC’s interior is where luxury meets comfort, and Steve and Andrew are committed to restoring that experience. The worn leather seats will be reupholstered, the faded dashboard polished and restored, and any damaged panels replaced with authentic materials. They'll refurbish the wood accents that are iconic to this model, adding that warm, rich feeling to the cabin that makes it feel like stepping back in time.

With a new headliner, carpets, and restored seating, the interior will be as inviting and luxurious as it was intended to be—ready to impress any classic car aficionado who steps inside.

Modern Updates, Classic Spirit

While authenticity is the guiding principle, Steve and Andrew plan to make a few discreet modern updates to enhance the driving experience. This could include improved lighting, a hidden audio system with Bluetooth capability, or even a more efficient air conditioning unit—features that make the car more enjoyable without compromising its classic charm.

The Road Ahead

Restoring a car like the Mercedes SEC isn’t a quick task. It requires patience, dedication, and an immense passion for classic automobiles. Steve and Andrew are committed to taking their time with this project, ensuring that every detail is perfect. Their ultimate goal is to bring this SEC back to its former glory, making it a car that turns heads and captures hearts all over again.

This restoration is more than just a job for Steve and Andrew—it’s a celebration of automotive history and a tribute to the craftsmanship that went into making this Mercedes. By the time they’re done, this SEC won’t just look brand new; it will feel brand new, ready to hit the road as the epitome of timeless style and performance.

So, stay tuned for updates on this incredible journey. At North Star Motors, Steve and Andrew are breathing new life into an icon, proving that even with a few decades under its belt, a true classic never goes out of style.Bringing a Classic Back to Life: Steve and Andrew’s Restoration Journey at North Star MotorsAt North Star Motors, it’s not just about the modern cars and cutting-edge technology; it's about the passion for vehicles that have stood the test of time, each with its unique story to tell. Flat tire light

So I got a warning that I had low pressure in one tire. I checked for a nail or anything that could cause a flat. Didn't find anything, so I just filled the tire back to what the other tires were filled to 34psi.

Only problem is that the flat tire light is still on. Do I have to take that to the dealership? Or will it turn off eventually?

Should I replace my analogue display unit with the digital cluster on 2017 e200 coupe?

I have a 2017 e class coupe which has beautiful analogue display. However the multimedia is kind of annoying and doesnt have apple carplay. Do you think it’s wise to get the whole thing replaced with the new Mercedes multimedia cluster which will enable carplay and a lot of other features and customisation - freshen up the whole car experience. Has anyone done this? Any risks to the car? Is it worth it?

Help me find the right Mercedes car that has this part (photo attached)

Hey Everyone!

I'm looking for some help regarding locating a Mercedes type vehicle.

Short story is that somebody scratched my car and left in a hurry without leaving a note or anything. However, due to the collision, the driver at fault managed to broke a part off from his/her car and also left it in the scene, which I found and collected.
I already filed a police report and gave them the broken piece, but besides taking some photos of it, they didn't want to keep it so I'm not sure if they would really put in the effort to find the correct type car.
The part has a Mercedes logo in it and a serial number of sorts.

Attached some pictures.

ChatGPT came back with Mercedes-Benz A-Class (W168) produced from 1997 to 2004, which seems to be correct as it does have a similar piece at the very front. In any case, I wanted to confirm with Mercedes enthusiasts just in case maybe it's wrong or there are possibly other Mercedes types that has the same bumper.

Thanks a lot!

Apple Watch remote control

Hi, does anyone know if there is an Apple Watch app that allows you to remote control certain functions (like unlocking and locking) for a 2021 GLE 580? The mbux Apple Watch application is only for 2019 models and older from my understanding. Much appreciated!

How much do you all like your C300?

Hi all, two-time Volvo S60 (sad it’s discontinued now) owner here who is looking for a change. Really like the 22+ C300, how do you all like it? I have a Mercedes (1983 240D)which I know isn’t comparable, but I enjoy the brand.

Cheap plastics

Mercedes isn't the only one with cheap plastics that stain easily. But with a "luxury" brand you think they would be able to engineer a way that doesn't constantly leak down plastic that will stain. No matter how many times you dry the inside of the door, open/close, dry again, it will constantly leak.

Rant over...

MB is buying my car back

I leased my 2023 c300 back in February of 2023. About 1 year later my driver assistant (auto steer) Malfuncted. I took it to the dealer to fix it, however they claimed they could not as the part was unaunavailable. With no real eta of the part I had to just do without the option. After about 4 months with no word on a fix I asked for a replacement. They said they could buy back the the car under lemon law or something. now they approved the buy back I am waiting for the claim adjuster to finish the process. Anyone know how this works as im still not to clear how they disburse payment. Then I need a new car but I was waiting for the new cla. Or maybe getting the e class.

I bought a 2017 A160 and very pleased with it. Unfortunately I can’t update the maps but it works for most cases. Yesterday I had my first longer drive but the sound of the voice is way to low. Where can I find the settings to adjust it?
