Currently living in South Marietta, near Powder springs. I’ve been here almost two years, but have noticed the last few months my trash service has gone up in price a bit. It’s over $100 each quarter, which to me seems a little pricey. I was curious what others are paying for their services? I currently have American Waste Services, which looks to be called Waste Connections of Georgia on their website. Are there other more affordable options?

I know it’s Easter, but I made a tee time for 2 at Marietta City Club on Sunday but unfortunately my usual golf partner just told me he can’t make it. Looking to see if anyone wants to join me for a round. I’m an average golfer, usually shoot around 100 on a good day.

This is in reference to a proposed ordinance which will be brought up in June. Here's more details from the MDJ article on the issue:

"The ordinance, which will be officially presented to the council in June, would make it illegal for any person to trespass on private property from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. “with intent for relaxation, camping or squatting with minimal accessories of habitation" without the written consent of the owner, according to a draft Tumlin shared with the MDJ.

It would also outlaw squatting and camping on public property — including public parking, under bridges or on benches — and incur a minimum $25 fine and three days in the Cobb County jail for first time violators, with increased penalties for repeat offenders."

Personally I take no issue with the private property part, only the public part. Criminalizing homelessness is inhumane and shouldn't be advocated for. We should be building places for people to go if they cannot find housing, not locking them up in jail and giving them fines.

Does anyone know where we can dump yard waste? We cut down a bunch of trees and bushes ourselves and have no idea where to put all this. Just moved here several months ago and cleaning up our property. We do have a pick up truck so would like to drop off ourselves.

Anyone an avid swimmer looking for a work out partner in the area? Just someone to go with 3 times a week lane split and talk swim.

Hello all! Taking a job in Kennesaw soon. Looking at the near-downtown Marietta for a potential place to live. It seems a very nice area for younger couples, walkable, a lot of local businesses. Good location compared to Atlanta and Kennesaw. My extended family mentioned the crime statistics in that area aren’t great?

Online apartment searching has proved difficult, I have a feeling a lot of apartments in that area don’t advertise online. Is this the case? If so, can anyone help provide some kind of info on how to contact some?

Also, any advice on living in that area in general is greatly appreciated.

Hey, so I'm currently 14 (F) and my parents are moving out of district. But I still want to go to my high school in marietta. More specifically, we're moving to Dallas GA, which is Paulding but my entire life has been In Marietta, and I just don't see myself going to school in Paulding. The issue is both my parents work till late afternoons, so I'm having trouble figuring out how I'm supposed to get to school and back home in marietta from Dallas. If I had a car this would be so much easier, maybe I could uber? IDK😭😭 Any transportation ideas??

I substitute at the schools and it’s odd that there are a bunch of elementary schools, a sixth grade academy, a HUGE middle school, and then a single high school that all the students funnel through. Anyone know why?
