Maps have been around for centuries- they help us know what cultures were aware of in terms of their neighbors, other lands, and so on. Map making continues today, as we map other planets, the bottom of the seas, and continually produce high quality maps here that measure various aspects of culture, demographics, and geography.

I just started to add mountains on my world and I already dislike how it’s going. Any advice on how to make them look more natural? Should I just keep with the process and see how it turns out?
Need to make one for work that matches the one we already have, see below. Is that something that's don with Ppt / excel, or a map making tool? Know which one is used to get this particular style?
Especially the road placements and mountain ranges, I’m not particularly confident about their natural formations.
How do you guys name the areas in your map? Is it from a grounded point of view like in modern time, a fantasy-driven staple, or something in the middle? I (personally) really enjoy the idea of naming things like how they were in real life. Here are a few examples I love from my world and in real life: The Yurkis mountain range is named so because human settlers pestered orc tribes for the names of the great looming mountains in the distance, and the orcs said “Yurkis” their word for horizon. Much like how the proposed name for the Yucatán peninsula came from the natives literally telling the Spanish colonials “I don’t understand you” when asked what the name of the area was on the map.
I'm going to start learning Qgis to make maps and I wanted to know if there are any good tutorials and guides to make r/imaginarymaps on Qgis. You can also suggest other apps which could give similar effects like Qgis.
So I am looking to a circular stair for a tower map i am forking on, sadly dungeon scrawls is not made for these types of stairs, I have tried doing stairs by making multiple going around, but it’s not ideal, so I had the idea of simply using photoshop. The problem is that I am a total noob on it, I know to do simple edits though, any ideas of how I could add them?
I have some maps i would like to remake with a hightmap. I think the normal way is to paint a hightmap over the existing map in gimp or photoshop and then import it to a 3D software.
Is there any way or software, where i can define some mountains, rivers and general landmarks and maybe the hight of said landmarks and generate it from there?
My goal is to have a "easy" way to fill the space between these landmarks and still have a good looking map.
Does anyone have a suggestion or suitable software?
