basically the same as /r/mtb but, more female focused.

as soon as there are female moderators, I will be removing myself as moderator, as I feel there is little place for a male moderating a female centric sub

Maven brakes: Small girl hands...what do you think?

Looking at a new bike that comes stock with these; understand the initial pull may require more; guessing the top line allow for more lever adjustment? Anyway, looking for any women who have ridden with them! thanks

Lutsen 99er

Thinking about training for the Lutsen 99er next year but wondering if I would need to look into a new bike! I currently ride the Liv Intrigue FS 27.5! Would I need to switch to a 29er? Is non carbon okay or too heavy? I’m looking to complete it and have a challenge to train for but not specifically worried about a fast time! But also don’t want to have a miserable time due to my bike setup! I will say I don’t know too much about bike setups I just enjoy mtbing and a challenge!

Class 1 e-bikes in Colorado

Can you give me some ideas of areas where we can ride our class one e-mountain bikes in Colorado. We are from SW Missouri and there are tons of e-bikes on our mtb trails. Looking for blue level trails. We went to Salida in June of 2023 and didn't realize that e-bikes were not allowed on the mtb trails. Plan on a trip in September or next spring. Thank you!

29er. Is it hoo heavy?

Anyone here ride on 29er? Bought Specialized Rockhopper Sport couple of weeks ago. the tyres look huge hahaha wonder if riding will be a breeze.... anyone? Have not assemble the bike yet, however now i feel like changing to 27.5. And some say that it's not recommended due to the geometry of the frame. So i need some reassurance haha!

Knee pads for the thick thighed

I have been procrastinating buying knee and elbow pads bc I was overwhelmed by the possibilities. Then I started looking at knee guard sizing and am suddenly very disheartened. I want something reliable, that I can ride with comfortably, but I have a 17 inch calf and a 23ish inch thigh. Can anyone recommend a pair and why you like them? Any helpful advice you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Teach me some basic maintenance and repairs?

My ex got me into mountain biking, and as he was quite talented at bike mechanics and loved tinkering, he used to do all my repairs. I wish I'd learned more from him before I found out what a nasty man he was and it all ended in tears, but, now I'm gonna learn!

Besides keeping my tires pumped up and lubing my chain regularly, what are some tips for maintenance and basic repairs you can share? Also, what are some tools every girl should have, even if they're not aiming to be a fully fledged bike mechanic? Any good youtube series that you'd recommend?

What do you ride?

Playing with the idea of a full suspension rig here in Arizona. Of course you get the female v. male geometry topic... So I ask, what're you riding?
