basically the same as /r/mtb but, more female focused.
as soon as there are female moderators, I will be removing myself as moderator, as I feel there is little place for a male moderating a female centric sub

Hi,
I live in the northeast US and my partner wants a mountain bike and she is 5'5 .I was wondering if a 29er or 27.5 would be recommended ?
We will be riding mostly fire roads , dirt and gravel , and light trails / XC
any input on sub 1000 dollar hard tails also appreciated
Thanks so much !
Anyone here ride on 29er? Bought Specialized Rockhopper Sport couple of weeks ago. the tyres look huge hahaha wonder if riding will be a breeze.... anyone? Have not assemble the bike yet, however now i feel like changing to 27.5. And some say that it's not recommended due to the geometry of the frame. So i need some reassurance haha!
I have been procrastinating buying knee and elbow pads bc I was overwhelmed by the possibilities. Then I started looking at knee guard sizing and am suddenly very disheartened. I want something reliable, that I can ride with comfortably, but I have a 17 inch calf and a 23ish inch thigh. Can anyone recommend a pair and why you like them? Any helpful advice you can offer is greatly appreciated!
Plus size girl getting into MTB just bought a diamondback fs ranger 2.0 but really struggling to find appropriate trousers, any suggestions?
My ex got me into mountain biking, and as he was quite talented at bike mechanics and loved tinkering, he used to do all my repairs. I wish I'd learned more from him before I found out what a nasty man he was and it all ended in tears, but, now I'm gonna learn!
Besides keeping my tires pumped up and lubing my chain regularly, what are some tips for maintenance and basic repairs you can share? Also, what are some tools every girl should have, even if they're not aiming to be a fully fledged bike mechanic? Any good youtube series that you'd recommend?
Playing with the idea of a full suspension rig here in Arizona. Of course you get the female v. male geometry topic... So I ask, what're you riding?
