Need urgent help - legality of house contruction

Hi all,

A friend of mine is looking to buy an independent house in Luxembourg, he pulled the cadastrale extract - Releve Parcellaire par commune et section cadastrale for the property, the report shows RBT at 0 and RNBT at 5.04. Does this mean the owner does not have permission to build a house or in other words the built structure is not legal and needs to be registered? If latter what is the usual cost of such procedure with a floor area of 135 sqr mtr?

Thanks

CDD resignation

Hello all,

I was wondering how to get out of a CDD contract before its end date. My workplace has become unbearable and offers no growth opportunity, therefore it makes more sense to get ahead with different companies.

As there is nothing specific mentioned in my contract, I assume that labor law applies. Apparently CDDs are once more quite disadvantageous, as you have to stay until the end of the contract, unless their is a mutual agreement.

Anyone been in this situation and got out of it? Any tipps or advice are welcome.

Rant post: Who does Luxair think it is?

Luxair is not Emirates or Singapore Airlines! It is barely even full service. You get Cremant, but in those rickety planes that you have to bend to enter and always stay bent. 1k EUR to get to Geneva in Economy. Someone needs to wake them up from their slumber.

Warhammer 40k

Hello,

Wondering if a warhammer 40k community exists in Lux? I saw an older post suggesting a place in Mersch that unfortunately shut down.

Any renovation company in Luxembourg with an interior designer? Kitchen repainting?

Hello,

We are looking for a renovation company for a new flat and most of the companies we see are just renovation and they don’t really advise on colours to put or how to distribute the space better. Of course they tell some guidance but not enough.

Do you know of any company that also offers advise and work with an interior designer or interior architect? Also, the kitchen is new but ugly, so we would like to maybe redecorate it painting the furniture. I saw online that this is done in a lot of cases…

Any tips or advise?

Thanks!!!

Free labor in Lux.

As a student looking to make extra money, I’ve had my share of interviews and trial days in Lux over the past 2 years. Waking up at 6 AM, so you can travel over 2 hrs to be made to wait for another 20-30 mins once you actually get there, only to spend like 3 minutes in the actual interview, to be told “you’re not rly what we’re looking for” by a person who’s clearly looking at your CV for the first time right then and there. Doing “trial” where the manager “forgot” to prepare lemonade the previous day, so your “trial” is cleaning the place then making lemonade for 3 hrs straight, being denied when asking if you could wait tables(the actual job), only to be told u’re not what they’re looking for. Other “trials” where you bust ur ass as the ppl who work there are basically mostly chatting or doing nothing, then getting told u’re not cut out for the job and not given a reason when asked why. These are just SOME of my stories! This seems quite exploitative as some establishments have the power to just do trials with a new person every day so they don’t have to pay people doing their petty work like mopping floors and squeezing juice. Trial days should be paid, whether it’s day 1 or day 10 for real!

Bellegen akt

Hi beautiful citizens of Luxembourg,

Does anyone know what is the status of that raise from 30.000 to 40.000 eur "discount" in the bellegen akt when you buy your first home in Lux? The last information I had from one and half month ago was that it had not been voted yet and therefore it could not be used by the notary to calculate the amounts due. I cannot find any updates online :(

What is the most suitable commune or municipality to reside in Luxembourg?

Hi all,

I would like to know which commune/municipality is the best to live in, has the best itinerant to the city of Luxembourg, has great views, nature, good community events, and a reasonable amount of goods and services.

Some examples I think fit the criteria are Mersch, maybe Dudelange (transport is bad due to many French taking the A3), Lintgen, and Lorentzweiler.

Are the public authorities doing anything?

I’ve been living in Luxembourg with my girlfriend since April 2023 and we moved to the central station area just six months ago.

A couple of days ago, I was coming back from work, I got off the bus at Quai 1 and headed toward home with my GF.

While walking right in front of Basic Fit (in the shittiest street in Luxembourg according to some locals I met), I was forced to walk on the side of the street in order to avoid coming too close to a group of crackheads lying on the sidewalk.

They were obviously under the influence, screaming, drunk and littering the place.

You have no idea about the smell.

Out of the blue, a police car stops right next to us, and a police woman shouts at me, ordering me and my girlfriend to walk on the sidewalk.

We were right on the border of the street, trying to avoid getting harassed by these junkies, and the police, instead of doing something to these people decided to reprimand us.

Is this normal? Why would the police come and scold obviously “normal” people and do nothing against the junkies and crackheads?

Right in that moment I was speechless and I complied, but now, thinking back to what happened I feel quite frustrated.

What would you have done?

Primary school rants

What’s with all the bits of papers, sheets and photocopies of excerpts, exercises and info tables pupils get? Why is this mess preferred to a few simple and comprehensive BOOKS where you start at the beginning and finish at the end?

Ps4 Slim To Sell/Trade?

Hey everyone! I have a black ps4 slim lying around which I don‘t use anymore and was wondering where I could sell it. Or maybe some people in this group are interested in getting it. (I‘m not sure if I‘m even allowed to offer it in here 😄) I also have a few Disk Games and a black controller: Red Dead Redemption, Gta 5, Spiderman, Starwars, and I think also some cartoon driving game.

The price would be negotiable, starting from 100€

P.s. I would also trade it against an Iphone (anything from iphone 8-13)

Tennis in Luxembourg / looking for partner

Hey all! I am looking for a tennis partner - anywhere close to Diekirch/Colmar/Junglinster or even Sandweiler... (i'd be flexible).. I used to play quite a bit tennis, but are out of shape and like to start to play regular (2-3 times a week).

Let me know if someone is interested - via pm or here.
