Anyone doing master's NORISK 2024-25, how has it been so far?

Has anyone here been accepted into the NORISK master's program?

I’m interested in applying for the next cohort and would love to hear about the experiences of the first cohort.

What did you find beneficial, and what do I need to prepare for my application? Any insights would be appreciated!

Neighbourhood to live in Lisbon

I’m going on erasmus to Lisbon for spring semester and my university is Nova IMS. I’ve looked some apartments so far from neighbourhoods such as Alameda, Olaias, Marques de Pombal and Santa Apolonia.

Does anyone here have any suggestions if I’m on a right track with these neighbourhoods or is there anything else to consider? I’m probably most interested in Olaias and Santa Apolonia for some reason. I probably have a feeling that they are not as popular neighbourhoods but are still in a good location.

I wasted my erasmus experience

Hi, I am currently in the middle of my erasmus. My only fear at the beginning was I wouldn't make friends and even though I tried so hard I ended up not having any international friends at all. I have only 3 classes a week and they don't check the list there so I had to rely on outside activities. I attended all the welcome events and those organised by the faculty + some from esn. I met hundreds of people and had a lot of small talk but on those events there are different people each time or if i meet some a few times it doesn't go further. I tried texting people, proposing activities or asking if I could join but ended up getting ghosted or rejected. Also noone has ever invited me anywhere etc. As an example once I met a group of girls whose company I really enjoyed and asked to be added to their groupchat. They agreed but somehow suddenly stopped texting there but kept the group together... so probably they made another chat without me. I am sad because they were doing a lot of fun stuff and were kinda my vibe:/

I really wanted it to be the best time of my life and I ended up hanging out with random people every time, building only meaningless connections and never being met with any effort from the other person. Also from the very beginning I felt like everyone has "their friends" already. Like how?? + I feel like people stick sooo much to their nationalities.

Maybe I expect too much but I would like to go somewhere and actually have fun, spend time with someone who also is dedicated on the same level. Now I am still desperately looking for company or just staying home because I have noone to go out with. I feel like all the party stuff has passed by, same with the trips. I visited some places outside of my city but never went further because there was noone to go with. Now it's too late to travel because of the awful weather://

Any tips? Can I turn this around now half-way through the exchange? But I guess not since I was always the one taking the initiative and stepping out of my comfort zone:(

EMMIE '25

Has anyone been selected for the EMMIE program? Are there any key points to keep in mind before applying? Also, there's a section where we need to provide details about the project we're working on or planning to work on during the program. Any suggestions on what the project should be to improve the chances of admission?

Erasmus+ PhD Student

hi everyone,

My university gives me an opportunity to go any country (almost but they suggest mostly countries in Europe) minimum 5 to 30 days. They only want me to contact university in person and get kind of acceptation letter.

I assume this programs has special name but to be accepted and have less paper work, I can say I will be intern in university. (for example in university lab)

Do you guys have any suggestions where I can contact with?

I am mechatronics engineer, PhD student Fields: Control, Mechanical Modelling.

I have approximately 30 days to get official acception letter.

Inquiry

Hello everyone, I am planning to study in Europe and apply to Erasmus scholarship program. I have few questions and would like to get in touch with people who have experience with it to answer my questions. And is there any group chats for people who are interested in applying to Erasmus or already got the scholarship.

Exchange in INSA Lyon - courses

HI!

I am thinking of joining INSA Lyon for and exchange next semester. What is baffling me right now is the ECTS points given for each course. I found myself completing 30 ECTS with as many as 15 courses. None of my colleagues have virtually the same amount of them as I do. Is this how a regular French week at uni looks like? If anyone was there as an incoming student, can you tell me what the Internships for 5,6 or 16 ECTS looked like? I strongly consider taking one of them, but based on the description it looks like a regular practice in some company, what seems a bit off as an option for an exchange student.

Thank you for all answers in advance!

Looking for accommodation in Erasmus

I'm looking for a house to rent in Spain, Italy or Germany, but I'm always afraid that the sites I'm looking at are scams. Do you know of any legitimate sites for any of these countries? Dorms, shared houses or other types of accommodation work for me.

Where is best for an erasmus student, Linköping or Norrköping?

Hi, I'm going to Sweden for Erasmus and I have these two options to choose from, but I don't know where would be the best place to live? Which city has more international students, more things to do, events, clubs?

Research/Teaching

Hello everyone! 🇦🇲

I’m currently involved in teaching and research in International Relations (Yerevan State University), focusing on Geopolitics, European foreign policy and regions like the South Caucasus. I’m interested in connecting with others who might be open to academic collaborations or Erasmus exchange ideas, especially around themes like diplomacy, regional conflicts, and EU external relations. My focus is specifically on France’s foreign/regional policy.

I am from Armenia so there are a few opportunities. What I am looking for is to build links with Universities who focus on similar disciplines so that our staffs/students can also benefit from.

If anyone here has experience with these sort of partnerships or might be interested in discussing potential projects, I’d love to hear from you!

do you guys study/do the work ?

ok don’t get me wrong i don’t just lay back and do nothing, i go to all my classes, ive missed a 3 the whole time ive been here upon burn out. If i fail all my classes here, i still have a project that im doing for my home university- a portfolio about my year abroad- worth 120 credits. Its mid term season and every time i take an exam i just think “damn i know this but i can’t express it in spanish” or im completely lost and have no idea what’s going on. like i do all my homework, i participate but i don’t revise and i don’t know if i should bother because at the end of the day… does it really matter if i fail or not considering i have a project to fall back on ? while i know its not a guarantee but it’s such an easy project genuinely. Like ill read some material here and there but all of it just stresses me out because i constantly feel behind and overwhelmed.

Fashion Master's - London, Paris, Milan, Berlin

Hi everyone!

Im looking for a master's program in Fashion, where each semester is spent in a different city. I'd love for the locations to be Paris, London, Milan and Berlin. Has anyone come across a program that offers this, or something similar?

If not, I'd also be interested in any recommendations for top-tier, free (or low-cost) fashion master's programs that might have an international focus or offer exchange opportunities.

Thanks so much for any help!

EDUMaH 2024 current students and alumni experience

So I'm preparing to apply for it again this year, after I got rejected last application cycle. I was offered the admission but wasn't selected for the scholarship. I want to try again now as I can see some points in my application that need improvement and some irrelevant things that I need to remove.

But I've heard some negative experience about teaching during 1st & 2nd semesters and also not getting enough support with regards to networking and finding work opportunities post completion. Those who are currently studying or have completed the course, how has been your experience? Would anyone be willing to share their experience and any tips? Would love to hear from those on the other side!

Erusmus 2025 - My dream

Hi everyone,

I am planning to apply for erusmus mundus this year, I tried last year but got rejected.
I graduated last year with a low GPA 3.2, during my studies I did 2 internships and now I have almost 1.5 years of work experience that too in tech industry. I am looking apply for a Business programe but that is abit theoritical and towards cultural business management. How shall I tailor my profile to get admission + win a scholarship?
I really am interested in the programe but I am stuck on building the profile.
Your suggestions might help.

Thank you.

Messina, Granada or Porto?

I have these three options for Erasmus+. For me, Messina has the best program and better courses related to my degree. The program is well organised as well, but I am not sure about the lifestyle. However, if anyone has been in these unis, how was your experience? Which one do you recommend? Thank you guys!

Brno, Napoli or Strasbourg?

Hi, i can choose between Brno, Napoli and Strasbourg but I am not sure which to choose… if anyone has experiences or recommendations let me know! I like Brno since Erasmus seems to be organized well and the city is cosy and very student-like, Napoli is maybe too big, but also I speak a little bit Italian which I would like to improve. Strasbourg seems like a good mix maybe. So let me know, I’m mostly focused on meeting people and having fun!!

Is 6month at EPFL, Laussane worth given the financial stress is way out of my league

Hi all,

I am 3rd world citizen pursuing my Master of Electrical and Information Technology at KIT with specialization of Information and Communication Technology(ICT), Karlsruhe, Germany. Recently, I came across an ERASMUS/SEMP opportunity at my university for Fall2025. I can fill for a maximum 5 Universities in the preference list. I would like to add that I am financing my studies completely by myself and i have a tendency to spend my money wisely, I said this to give you some context to develop an easier understanding of my question and dilemma and I would like to keep my thoughts pretty free-flowing so that I can get more corrections and suggestions from people here.

I usually follow QS global ranking for University ranking and I only select those Universities which are more or less better in score than my host university.

My preferred list would look like:

  1. EPFL, Lausane, Switzerland
  2. KTH, Stockholm
  3. Politecnico di Milano, Italy
  4. KU Leuven, Belgium / Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands
  5. NTNU, Trondheim, Norway --> Only motivation to evidence Aurora Borealis/Polar Light

I dont know how it works in Europe job market, but definitely, the country where I come from, the elite universities tags on ones resume definitely adds up more zeros at the end of offered salaries( okay I know bit exaggerating) but its definitely true that certain Tier University has a different pay structure. My current question is also connected to my previous question, could you please have a look at https://www.reddit.com/r/Erasmus/comments/1gdaj0v/2000_chfmonth_is_it_true_that_erasmussemp/

In short, for bureaucratic reasons with city registration states that "For european students: A document proving that you have sufficient funding (2000.- CHF/month) for your stay in Switzerland". The 12000 CHF requirement would be way out of my current financial possibilities. The responses and the discussion with few of my friends, really forced me to think:

  1. Is it really worth attending 6 months studies at EPFL? I mean how much knowledge I am going to gain in complete for 6 months, given I will be in new city and country which ofcource take away some time with formal processes like city registration, bank account opening and other stuffs.

  2. I would have to do a lot of planning and put a lot of effort in terms of time and mental preparation on how I could gather the sum of ~10000 CHF, would it really worth?

  3. Luasanne is definitely 78% expensive than where living now. Would the mental stress for 6 months living low budget would be really worth it?

The other contradictory thoughts in my minds are:

  1. It might be my last opportunity to have such an opportunity to study in such a prime University like EPFL.

  2. The EPFL tag going to stay forever in my resume and life and could provide me some edge from competitors applying for same job(it might be my false understanding as well). It's something for me to proud and happy about.

  3. I am an ambitious guy, overcoming challenges and pushing my boundaries and making things work which at first looks impossible, gives me immense happiness and boosts my self esteem and confidence. Even if things doesn't work as I wish. I have my satisfaction that I atleast tried and didn't get scared of the challenge.

  4. Living in Switzerland is one of my childhood dream as well. No doubt its a beautiful country and what if it opens up new opportunities for me like Master-Thesis, PhD or job opportunities? who knows what future has to offer.

Please feel free to provide your comments, and don't hesitate to share your thoughts even if you think how crazy it is.  I read every comment. Maybe you can suggest some reordering or modification of choice of university I did above.. if you have any other university which are actually doing great in domain of Communication Engineering, Signal Processing, Image analysis, IOT, Wireless communication, robotics. I am honestly not the best guy for RFIC, digital electronics, mircrowave and related stuff. My preferred mode of Instruction is English. Let me know also if you wish to know which Universities has learning agreement with my home university. I would be happy to share on request.
@ german students could you also suggest where i could borrow credit at low interest rates?

Choosing a city

Hello everyone! I’m about to choose which city to attend - Lisbon, Bologna, Milano, Prague or Barcelona (a lot different, I know🫣) I’m very interested to hear what you guys’ experiences have been at the different cities - what was finding accommodation like, the academic level, student life, cost and experiences and overall impression? Do you have any regrets? What do you wish you knew beforehand? Thanks in advance! 🙏

Erasmus in Valencia, Seville and Naples

Basically I don’t know which city to choose to do Erasmus. I've heard and read positive and negative things, but I still have doubts about:

-the academic environment and reception for Erasmus students;

-the cost of living in each place (I intend to make 90% of my meals at home);

-if master's degrees are taught in English at the University Parthenope of Napoles, Universidad de Sevilla and UPV-ETSINF-School of informatics Valencia (despite being Portuguese and understanding a little of what is said, English would be better for me).

Any other information you have, both positive and negative about each city, I would appreciate it if you shared it.
