Looking for more critical thinkers

Calling all critical thinkers and those with special interests!

I have made it a mission of mine to be in every reddit sub for every nation on the earth (or at least the ones in english).

I am trying to gauge interest in any who wish to bring their passion and knowledge in a category to join a groupchat (on the dinosaur of a platform known as Facebook).

What im looking for and why:

My whole life ive been interested in different countries and cultures and the idea of having an 18+ groupchat in which many nations have a bit of representation its a dream come true. Id love to have people who are educated and capable of deep discussion about various topics.

Criteria

  1. Have a special interest in any field politics, philosphy, history, heck even those proficient in film music or theatre.

  2. You can take a joke. Its a fairly on task group chat however id say the only stuff that is censored as far as words go is any words pertaining to race or explicitly sexual material.

  3. You are respectful of different religions. The group chat is very commonly excercising various different belief standpoints and jokes as long as they are in good taste are perfectly acceptable

What to expect:

  1. Debates: these can range in a variety of topics from politics to history to science. And they can border on "heated" but at the end we are all just trying to learn and any oversteps will result in bans after a warning if course

  2. Varied religious backgrounds id say the group is about 65% Christian 35% atheist but everyone in there is comfortable with sharing details about their religion free of ridicule aside from the lighthearted jokes. We have also recently added some others majority of which are Muslim.

  3. The group right now is majorly american but there has been a fair bit of canadians that have joined and left over the three years the groupchat has been around. We recently got some members Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Germany

  4. Right now we have experts in the following categories

Cryptocurrency TV Shows and Pop culture Philosophy American Law World History Military History Video Game History Meteorology

The group is probably like 45% autistics with special interests so we pride ourselves on knowing our craft.

  1. Each month I post news articles from every nation's internet news source in alphabetical order usually a letter a day. And we monitor and disccus the conflicts happening abroad

  2. The group is 100% male which wasnt even by design thats just how its gone so far but there isnt a gender requirement one way or the other.

The donts:

No excessive meme spam. I tend to allow discussions with GIFS but depending on how many join the chat, theres no need for excessive memes

No posting sexual or graphic material some mems walk the line but never cross it.

No racial slurs

The creator of the GC is the final authority on everything

The point of the GC is to engage and have fun. If somebody is going a month without at least reading the posts then you shouldnt have joined in the first place silly! Inactives are often removed after one month.

Lets educate eachother! The goal is to increase comradery and learm about eachother cultures.

As of right now im wanting natives to whatever nation I post this in (as I intend to copy and paste) and depending on traction Im going to try and invite either the first people who respond or the most educated.

If you want to leave a rude comment or something about how you have better things to do go ahead! This is reddit after all!

But at least for the sake of being entertaining lets avoid repeats so far ive heard

Incelfest

Sausagefest

Pretentious

Arrogant

Red pills

Sounds like Hell

Remember we are looking for people who want to make friends and debate ideas not people who think themselves witty comedians.

Unusual request!

I am going on a trip 1may with a friend to ride through the mountains to Monaco and back. We planned to ride in one day from Belgium to Liechtenstein area and then do a 7 day trip. But because I have free gas on my car, and highways aren't the most fun, we're thinking about going by car to Liechtenstein and putting our bikes on a small trailer. But I'm not comfortable leaving my trailer on a parking lot for a week. So If someone would be as kind to let us put our trailer on their driveway? We would be eternally gratefull! If this kind of post is not allowed, let me know and I'll delete it. Thanks 🙂

Best place to try Käsknöpfle?

Hi! I’ll be visiting Liechtenstein in August. Where can I try the best Käsknöpfle? An old post here suggested trying it in Triesenberg, what do you think?

I will be arriving in Vaduz from Zurich. I won’t have a car, I’ll be taking the transit :)

Backpacking through Liechtenstein

Hello! I am looking to spend a few days in Liechtenstein the summer while I backpack through Europe. Once I reach Liechtenstein, I had the goal of walking from the Austria border to the Switzerland border. However, I will be coming from Munich, Germany by public transportation, and it doesn't seem like I can stop directly at the border. Does anyone have any recommendations for how I can fulfill this goal? I checked on Google and it looks like the entire trip would be 4.5 hours walking, which I think is doable. Appreciate any help!

Moving to Liechtenstein - anyone willing to share experiences?

I am probably going to be moving to Liechtenstein on a temporary L residence permit. My housing will be taken care of, so I am not worried about that. Has anyone done this before, willing to share experiences? Here are some of my main questions, but I would love to hear anything anyone has to say! I am a relatively experienced "expat" having lived in a few countries, but it would be my first time living in a country where I do not speak the language!

  1. Any work for English speakers? My partner will probably be coming and can occupy themsevles otherwise, but working is always a nice easy way to meet people.
  2. Healthcare: how hard is it to get specialist care or even a generalist doctor? I am followed for a chronic illness which is under control, but requires monitoring and prescriptions. I am not worried about price but moreso availability and timeline to get into the system.

Those are the practical questions, but I am also very much interested in the experience, how the people respond to newcomers, things not ot miss, etc.

I'm going to be in Vaduz for one day, what are some nice hikes/areas to check out while I'm there?

In late my my friend and I are going to travel from Vienna and travel down to Switzerland and Milan.

Where gonna sleep one night at Vaduz as a stop but I offered to stay and checkout Vaduz instead of traveling to Zurich immediately, cuz might as well because where there.

I know Vaduz has some areas to check out but from what I can see we can finish Vaudz in about 2 hours, are there areas around Vaduz to check out like 4-5 hours max hikes, or towns/villages in Austria/Switzerland etc.

Liechtenstein National Day

Hi everyone! I went on a hiking trip in Liechtenstein last year and fell in love with the country. I want to come back for the Liechtenstein National Day celebration on August 15th. I read somewhere that I have to apply for tickets for the reception in the Rose Garden. Does anyone have an idea of how I would do that and if I can do it as a foreigner? Thank you!

License Plates

I am a license plate collector visiting Liechtenstein for a day and was wondering if anybody has an old or extra license plate I could have or purchase. I really need one for my collection and would very much appreciate it. I can come to you and pick it up. I am staying in Vaduz but can go anywhere.

Best hikes of the Liechtenstein trail

Hi all,

I will be visiting around the 15 of May, walking the Liechtenstein trail. I was wondering if you had suggestion of cool/harder hikes that connect with it. I'd like to get a grasp of the landscapes and stay at an alpine hut if possible. Thanks in advance!

Hat einer von euch an der Uni in LIE den LLM Executive Master gemacht und kann ein Feedback geben? Lohnt sich der „Titel“ im Bezug auf das Gehalt anschließend ?

piracy laws

is the approach to pirating content in Liechtenstein similar to the one in Switzerland: downloading/streaming from illegal sources is not an offence (at least is not prosecuted), and only uploading/sharing stolen content will get you into trouble?

Thanks in advance!

Citizenship by marriage

Hello everyone!

I was trying to get some information on how to get a citizenship in FL and some websites say that I need to be in the country for 40 years, some 30, some 10 and some 5. I don’t know where the truth is, that’s why I ask you directly. I’m mostly taking about citizenship by marriage, or if there is any other way of obtaining a citizenship, I’d love to hear that (I’m highly qualified EU citizen).

Thank you!

Survey about your political worldview (18+; 15-30 mins to complete)

Hello, we are a group of psychology researchers from the University of Kent, UK. It would be a huge help if anyone from any background who is interested would fill out our quick survey (18+ years old only) about your views of politics, society, and more.

Fill out the survey here: https://universityofkent.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8ICkX7mBre5IGpM

We are posting here because we hope to collect responses from a wide range of political perspectives and backgrounds. Please let us know if you would like a summary of your responses in comparison to others once the data collection is complete.

The survey takes 15-30 minutes to complete, and we are happy to respond to any queries or questions. Please private message us to avoid giving away the point of the study to others.

Thanks for your time.

Edit: The survey is now closed! Thank you very much for your time, we will be sure to post the results up here when they're ready.

Or places in it!

How safe is Liechtenstein? What is it like living in such a safe country like Liechtenstein?

According to the 2024 Safety Index Liechtenstein is right now the safest country on earth!

Since there aren't many people living in Liechtenstein and it's one of the wealthiest countries in the world there can't be many reasons for people to steal or to break the law.

That's why I was wondering what is it like living in such a safe country like Liechtenstein?

  • Are all places safe in Liechtenstein? (In most countries there are certain places people should avoid)
  • Can you for example sleep without locking the doors of the house?
  • Can kids go to school alone?
  • Can women walk alone in the streets at 3:00 a.m?
  • Can women always walk around alone without fear of being raped or anything like that?
  • Do people give you your wallet back if you lose it?
  • Can you walk around without fear of being assaulted at any time of the day?

What do you guys think?

Kurze Frage zum muslimischen Ausländeranteil in Liechtenstein / Brief question on the proportion of Muslim foreigners in Liechtenstein

Was haltet ihr davon?

Danke fĂĽrs Lesen, ich freue mich auf eure Antworten :)

In English:

According to Wikipedia 5.9% of the population in Liechtenstein is made up of Muslims. I wonder if this is really true or not, it seems that most of the immigrants in Liechtenstein come from non-Muslim European countries like Germany, Austria, Switzerland etc.

That's why I'm asking this question, namely how the Muslim population in Liechtenstein can be so high when most of the foreigners in Liechtenstein come from neighboring countries and not necessarily from the Middle East.

Do you guys really see many Muslims in Liechtenstein? Or perhaps there is an error in the recording of this data? What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to your answers :)

How much home office is allowed for cross-border workers?

How much home office (teleworking) is allowed for EU nationals living in Switzerland and working in Liechtenstein (without consequences, social security stays with Liechtenstein)?

I have found two sources:

  1. "Umgekehrt können Grenzgänger, die in der Schweiz wohnen und weniger als 50% Telearbeit für einen Arbeitgeber (oder mehrere Arbeitgeber) mit Sitz Deutschland, Österreich, Frankreich, Italien oder Liechtenstein leisten, weiterhin den Sozialversicherungen am Arbeitgebersitz unterstellt bleiben." (source)
  2. "The multilateral framework agreement is only applicable to constellations involving two states that have signed this agreement and to persons who are subject to the EU coordination rules. Persons to whom these coordination rules were already not applicable cannot benefit from this multilateral framework agreement (e.g.: EU citizens residing in Switzerland and working in Liechtenstein or Swiss citizens residing in Germany and working in Liechtenstein)." (source)

So, is up to 50% (or up to 25%) home office allowed for EU nationals living in Switzerland and working in Liechtenstein?

Which dishes best represent the cuisine of Liechtenstein?

Hello Liechtenstein! I'm doing a cooking challenge in which I cook food from a different country every week. Liechtenstein is coming up soon and I'm wondering if you have any suggestions for me. I realize you're a tiny country, so maybe you don't have a lot of dishes that you can consider your own. Or maybe you do! I'm just not sure. Throughout the week, I have time to make a few main dishes and any appropriate sides. I can also fit in breakfast, snacks or appetizers, and maybe a dessert. I am open to just about any kind of dish, whether simple or complex.

So far, I found these dishes that I'm interested in making:

  • Ribel
  • Hafalaab
  • Liechtensteiner fish stew
  • Käsknöpfle

What would you add (or remove)? I'd also love links to authentic recipes if you have them (they don't have to be in English).
